Or? . . . . . . you're gonna send Cagney after them? Maybe Peter Lorre? hehe

Larry, what a wonderful story, I sure hope this movie goes as planned etc. I'd love to see Jennifer in a good movie. :-) Yes, wouldn't it be wonderful if 'some' station, 'some' place would offer things like old talk shows etc. That would be so incredible seeing all those wonderful old stars, during a 'normal' 24-hr. period of their lives. I wouldn't be able to tear myself away. :-)

William Bendix . . . did I miss something? :-)
katyscar11ett replied to katyscar11ett's topic in General Discussions
Thanks path - yes, they sure are fun to spot. 8D I'll be on the look-out for them now. ^^ -
I know Monday's are Robert Montgomery days this month . . .since he's star of the month - and rightly so IMO. I'm really enjoying all his movies. I did also notice that there were 4 or 5 - or maybe even 6 - movies in a row today starring William Bendix. Even though I watched all these, I did have things to do between movies, etc. so didn't listen totally to what went on between movies. What I'd like to know is if someone even acknowledged that Bendix was in this chain of movies? Or did anyone even notice? *grin* I know sometimes things just get overlooked. Did anyone notice if anyone noticed . . . ??? I've always liked Bendix and was glad to see him in so many movies. :-) Thanks. 2006 is starting out great, IMO. :-)

What Movie Tunes Get Stuck In Your Head?
katyscar11ett replied to daddysprimadonna's topic in General Discussions
Obviously, this didn't post the first time. ? Not really the type of movie songs that you're speaking of, perhaps, but the one song that does get stuck in my mind for days after watching this movie is Captain Boogie's March from Bridge over the River Kwai. -
I'd like to clarify an opinion I posted on this thread about a month ago. I said that I thought Dennis Quaid was/is a very sexy man. I had just seen The Big Easy, and had never seen Quaid before. Since that time, I have got about 20 movies from the video store and/or library in order to familiarize myself with Quaid. I've seen movies I've hated and movies that I've really liked. I've seen Quaid in roles that I thought he did wonderfully, and in roles that I thought he did a lousy job of, to movies that I just thought stunk, regardless of Quaid. The only thing consistant in all of my movie watching, is that I've never seen Quaid sexy again. Much to my disappointment!!! I'm still watching Quaid movies and still hoping. I think he's a fair decent actor but the thing that drew me to Quaid in the first place was likely only a one time thing, Too bad, too, cuz he was very sexy in The Big Easy. Anyway, obviously it was the 'role' not the 'actor' that I find sexy. :-)

Jackie, I'm amazed that Ontario doesn't get TCM. It seems you get most things first. That really sucks and I hope it changes for you.

Cabaret!

Thanks Matt. :-) Yes, I did notice that reflection in Crossfire. ^^ Another great film noir. There are so many great noir films. Gotta luv 'em!

It sounds like it could be either of these movies. I haven't seen Father was a Fullback, but will if it shows anywhere cuz it sounds good. :-) The Male Animal is a good movie, as well. :-)

A movie star who you would like to see to be made in to a movie bio
katyscar11ett replied to thomas's topic in Your Favorites
I can think of one that I hope NEVER is made into a movie. The Eddie Fisher autobiography. Has anyone read it? I don't think I have ever read a worst piece of trash! According to Fisher, he single-handedly saved every alcoholic in Hollywood - and screwed every actress. Sorry, I have to say 'screwed' because the book reads like a skin mag. Fisher has NO respect for anyone. None. I kinda liked him until I read this piece of trash, now I can't stand the man. He sure has a great sense of writing fiction, however! ^^ -
Did you like best? The de Caprio version? Clifton Webb version? Or the English version currently on TCM, A Night to Remember. I always base my opinion FIRST by enjoyment level, then technical etc. I've been saying for years that I don't think the award winning version is any better than the first 2. I think they are all terrific movies. Whatcha all think?

Thanks for the url, karloff, I'll hang onto that one. :-) I assume you just change the 4 to 5 etc. I was hoping I'd be able to come back with some good news, but I'm afraid not. It isn't that great a schedule for April. I remember not liking last April's either. It was heavy on comedy, slapstick mostly - which I'm not fond of. Anyone who likes that kind of thing should enjoy it. If it were a month of film noir, I'd be in heaven. lol Which is really a matter of one's personal taste, I guess. I'm sure many will enjoy it, and that's ok cuz if there's a month of comedy, maybe there WILL be a month of film noir, and other genres that I do like. Overall, I'm not keen on the schedule, but I did find some movies I like, and some that haven't been on in awhile, so that will be good. It's good that months like this come along sometimes - or I'd NEVER get any housework done. :-)
-
How did you manage to find April's schedule? I know how to find unposted schedules the OLD way but what are you using for a url the NEW way. ^^ Then I'll comment. lol

I'm gonna latch on to Shania's coat tails here cuz I think she's got the right answer. :-)

What Star would you like to see a month devoted to?
katyscar11ett replied to a topic in Your Favorites
William Powell would be great! One of my favorites, for sure. It's funny about Powell, whenever I am lucky enough to interest young people in classic movies, the one person that they all seem to really like is Powell, without fail. It's nice to see that since I like him so much myself. I didn't remember Peter Lorre being SOTM in 2004. I don't know what I was doing at the time - but it obviously wasn't watching TV. Sad! Do you think they might consider Lorre again, just for me? LOL Whatcha mean, 'fat chance'.? -
Actually, the correct title is Here Comes Mr. Jordan. But, no, it's not scheduled for TCM. I did, however, see it recently on another channel. It could have been FOX or The Movie Channel. My guess is that it's a FOX movie and that they play it occasionally on FOX. I only saw it a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully they will show it again soon, and you will be able to catch it. If I hear of it coming up, I'll post the information here and hopefully you get the channel. :-) Yes, I really love this movie. Montgomery AND Rains - can't get much better! ^^

"Either that or SamTherapy's scaring 'em all away with his big words and percentages." Crispy, you really are a HUGE laugh. :-) "Either that . . ." or YOU are scaring people away by your continual bitching, nagging, complaining and rudeness. It's been a long time, I'm happy to say, since I've come across someone as full of themselves, and their opinions, as you are. However, you aren't worth the energy for me to get upset, instead I find you a real joke! Do you have ONE decent comment to make TO anyone or ABOUT anyone? Even your user name "crispy"comment indicates that you thrive on your brittle, snappy, argumentative opinions. You continually make snide, sarcastic, condensending comments to other members of this forum, seemingly to make yourself look wise and clever - but instead people are beginning to see right through you - and you're looking pretty foolish and immature. I'm sure you'll have something very intelligent and stimulating to say to me - after all, it certainly looks like this is what you've been waiting for - someone to call you on your ****. So, flap away . . . maybe someone will be interested, but most of us could really care less. All your negative comments about me will just put me in the same category with other people on this list that you have been ignorant to . . . you sure are fast to judge people you barely know. If there was a way to block your comments from showing up on my computer, I'd do that immediately. I, like most of us here, come to this message board to discuss classic movies, great actors and actresses and the wonderful TCM. I don't have the time or the inclination to read how wonderful and intelligent YOU are - at the expense of everyone else. GROW UP! That's the last thing I'll ever have to say to you - you've already taken up too much valuable time in my head - and you're not worth the effort. I wonder how any of us managed to survive before you came along to 'show us' how wrong we've all been in so many areas. And here we were wasting our time getting along, having good discussions and being friends, despite our different opinions. Tsk, tsk.

Thanks for sharing that Mongo. It is quite amusing. *grin*
