  1. Although not considered a "team" per se, where one went the other was usually there. Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet.
  2. Looks like all the Liz Taylor fans will be happy this July. I think she's Star of the Month since a lot of her movies will be shown on Thursdays. Time for me to take up sports. ;-)
  3. Thanks bunches, Mongo. I knew you'd know the answer. Amazing Greenstreet was only in the movies for less than 10 years, and yet he is someone that left such a lasting impression, and so many great movies.
  4. About Angels with Dirty Faces - those are really good observations. I just never thought there was a question about Rocky's intentions - food for thought.
  5. There was a Canadian folk singer in the 70s, by the name of Valdi, and he and his wife cooked and ate the placenta. The story was all over the news. I really don't know what these people are thinking - but I don't think Cruise has what it takes to go through with it. As for my reasons for disliking actors like Marlon Brando, Liz Taylor, etc. I don't want to go into it, because it's really just a matter of taste - and my comments might provoke an argument, which I don't want to do, Without mentioning who is who on my list, I will say that some of them I find no-talent and some I think are full of themselves, as well as other reasons. Like I said, it's personal choice - just like I can't imagine anyone not liking Al Pacino, and yet someone mentioned they don't, and I can't imagine anyone not thinking Brad Pitt has the looks of a Greek god but some people disagree profusely. Different strokes . . . . .
  6. Mongo, it seems I haven't bothered you for awhile - it's about my turn. :-) Can you find out some info about Sydney Greenstreet for me, please. What I want to know is if he was a tea plantation owner in Ceylon, how on earth did Hollywood find him? Thanks.
  7. I think red - for obvious reasons - OMG did I say that?!
  8. Kevin Spacey could play McQueen, IMO. I'd love to see a bio about Steve, I just adore him. Scarlett
  9. *smile* Yep, I suppose - - - in my mind, there is no question, however. And, I wasn't referring to society, or Hollywood, when I mentioned "redeemed". I believe Rocky finally did one good thing before he died - and I believe Father "whoever" thought so, too, Scarlett
  10. I love that movie, as well. The one thing that has always troubled me is that, since it was a true story, after her husband was found (after she went through the police set-up and the made up story etc.)he didn't corroborate her story. IF she really was with her husband, it should have been easy to prove. Why didn't they work more on that angle. I never did understand that and to me that proved she was guilty. But who knows ..............
  11. I don't know for sure, of course, but the trivia game that I have say Danny Thomas was the first choice for The Godfather. I don't like Marlon Brando, and that's the only time I have liked him - but imagine, Danny Thomas?????????
  12. Exactly - cuz he was locked up for a few minutes as a kid - at his father's suggestion. I think I'd be scared of cops, too.
  13. Sorry to break in here - but I just wanted to say 'sorry' for not being here to post the 'next question' awhile back. I had just gotten over pneumonia twice - and at the time I should have been posting, I got very sick because of the antibiotics I'd been taking - I've been MIA for a week. Am feeling better now, thankfully! I see our friend Fred posted a good question, tho - and it actually was just a click of the enter button who got there first with the right answer to the Singin in the Rain question - me or filmmaker. Now back to regularly scheduled thinking and answering - - - - Scarlett
  14. "we dont know if Rocky was faking or if he was actually geniune at the end" - (about Angels with Dirty Faces.) Don't we? I thought it was REAL clear that he was faking. If he wasn't totally faking what would have been the point, and his redemption, of the movie? I, in no way, see Rocky Sullivan "loosing it" if he wasn't faking. JMHO.
  15. I have tried to watch Executive Suite many times - and just don't like it at all - and don't want to waste my time trying to watch it again to bother trying to figure out why I didn't like it. :-) I think boredom was one reason tho.
  16. Doris Day Rock Hudson Marlon Brando Liz Taylor Cesar Romero Leslie Caron Liza Minelli Woody Allen Frank Sinatra Dean Martin Debbie Reynolds Sophia Loren Sylvester Stallone BIG TIME I'm sure there are many more. It's amazing how to me how most of my disliked stars come out of the 50s Scarlett
  17. Movieman - yes, I sure do mean Farley. It's funny that I would type the wrong name, too, cuz I don't like Stewart Granger and I really like Farley Granger. Guaranteed it was a mistake made from just not thinking, not a mistake in the actor. Thanks for pointing it out. Like I said to Stoney, just below, making mistakes would be typically "me". LOL Scarlett
  18. I guess I really shouldn't be a smart-**** and say Sunset Blvd, should I? Nah, I guess I better not................... ;-)
  19. Do I HAVE to ignore it? I thought I was gonna actually get one right hehe - my guess was The Gunfighter Johnny (Jimmy?) Ringo being Gregory Peck - one of my favorite westerns. Do I get half points? 25%? 10%? Would you believe.............. LOL
  20. Arghhhh! The board told me it wasn't gonna post this one so I made another post - and then it went ahead and posted this. Sorry for the double post! Scarlett
  21. Isn't that the truth! LOL I actually changed my mind - decided that the answer was too easy to be right - and was going to leave it blank - then decided to be brave and changed it back. And when I reposted, your answer was there, and the same as mine. So - we're either both right - or both wrong. hehehe
  22. Singin' in the Rain - but I think that's too easy. lol Scarlett
  23. I used to get Newman and Brando confused periodically when I was younger - one reason it took me so long to get to like Newman. So, IMO, there are some similarities.
