Thanks to all of you who PMed me. I'm well on my way now - but don't know if I'll make it through the next 3 weeks.

Easy question - Rita and Hedy.

Jack - I didn't know there was a 'real life' thing between Claire Danes and Billy Crudup - I don't know much about modern day actors. In fact, that is the first time I've seen Billy and maybe only the second time I've seen Claire. I was definately talking about the movie, Stage Beauty. I tend to be very unforgiving about characters in movies and I thought her character shouldn't have done what she did to his character, right from the get-go - of course, if she hadn't there wouldn't have been a movie. hehe I know I'm quite illogical sometimes.
I won't begin to tell you of the rant and rave I did when Harrison Ford's character killed off Brad Pitt's character in The Devil's Own. I don't think any movie ever has made me that mad! I went on and on for days. LOL

Metsfan - I couldn't agree more about Pernell Roberts, I wish I'd have thought of him myself. :-) My very first love! I was 10. hehe I don't like watching Bonanza episodes without Adam. And I do check at the beginning.
Lucas - don't worry about not looking like Paul Newman - who does? ;-) If you did, your wife would have to find someone else to swoon over, it's a 'girl thing'. hehe
I also agree with Bob Montgomery. And totally admire someone (forget who) for adding Orson Welles. I think we forget how handsome he was in his prime because of how large he was at the end of his life. I just hate it when people make 'fat jokes' about Orson. :-(
And I'm so happy that no one mentioned (unless I missed it) the world's biggest fool, Tom Cruise.

"I really wish her debut had been as Bonnie Blue Butler...In "GWTW."
There truly is a God if we were spared that!

I just watched Stage Beauty last night - and I really enjoyed it. I found that I couldn't forgive Claire Danes for doing what she did to Billy Crudup though - and was a bit angry that he did. Best not to get too emotional, lol. But, I too, really recommend this movie.
About Capote - I totally agree with the conversation about that one, as well. Hoffman was terrific!
TZCutter, you're probably only forced to watch movies anywhere if you're a Scientologist. ;-)

I see you've got 2 Steve King films listed - oh yeah!!! :-)
But I really didn't like Lost in Translation. I feel that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Tyrone Power (before aging)
Errol Flynn (definitely before aging lol)
Dirk Bogarde
Tony Curtis
Burt Lancaster (not truly handsome, but oh, so sexy)
Brad Pitt (sorry but it has to be said)

Hi everyone! I haven't been here for awhile - life, y'know - it gets in the way a lot. :-)
I would just love it if some of you who either live in NYC or have been there can Private Message me. I can not believe I'm going there, but I am. I don't have much money and live way far away - western Canada. However, my kids know who insane I am about Stephen King - so they got me a trip to New York to see "Harry, Carrie and Garp" - which is going to be the most incredible event. JK Rowling is reading from Harry Potter, Steve King is reading from Carrie and John Irving is reading from The World According to Garp. Someday, people will look back on this and not be able to believe it happened! I can't believe it myself - I can't sleep at nights, I'm so excited.
We're also going to The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway - and hopefully to the Museum where the Impressionist art is.
If you can, please contact me and let me know something about the "real" NYC.
Thanks bunches - and it's great to be back here!

Claude Rains - without a doubt!

Six Degrees of Separation was on last night and I was having trouble sleeping so I watched it. It was terrific! Donald Sutherland, Stockard Channing and Will Smith. I look forward to seeing it again. The more I see Donald Sutherland, the more I like him. :-)
-
A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - - in fact, anything and evrything written by Tennessee Williams.
-
Thanks for posting that - really pretty, isn't it. Unlike the dumb version of I Will Survive for last month. I really like this one. :-)
-
Programmer - I'd much rather get a "no way, that is dumb, we're never gonna add that option" than to hear nothing from you. You've been really good about answering ohter questions, why not this? It's been posted here and on other threads for awhile now. PLEASE answer.

I'm up here, y'all, visiting my poor Canadian relatives, (on Rhett's side of the family, of course) in this terribly cold place. I can't wait to get home to my wonderful Tara. Fiddle dee dee. But, I'll think about that tomorrow . . . . .
Mongo, dahling, you should take your email addy off, now that I've copied it down, you never know when someone will be looking for an addy to spam. :-(

I will do that mongo, and I surely thank you VERY much!

My kids names are Matthew, Mark, Luke and Jean (feminine John). Believe it or not, it started out unintentional, even though I'm a Christian.
I named my daughter, Jean, after my mom, and spelled it Jeanne, because of Jeanne Crain. Just a different, prettier spelling. Then I had my first son, and named him Mark because I really like the name Mark. The same with Luke, I named my second son Luke because I just love the name. When my daughter was pregnant, she wanted to carry on with the gospel names, so she gave me the choice of Matthew or John. It was then that we realized (we were stupid not to have realized it earlier, I'm sure) that Jeanne is the feminine form of John, so we picked Matthew. Even though the little guy knows Jeanne is his birth mom and he has "two moms", I have legal custody of Matthew, I call him my son and he calls me 'mom'. So - in effect, my children are all named after the gospels. When I get confused, I just call "whatever gospel you are, quit it" . . . or whatever the case might be. *smile*
I tell them they are lucky their names aren't Errol, Tyrone and Orson. heheh

Every time I watch the Bette Davis clip for May, I cringe when it comes to this part. My most hated 'stupid' line is when Davis says in The Letter "with all my heart, I still love the man I killed" - now, who would say that, like that? A person would say "with all my heart, I still love . . . " Roger, Bill, John, whatever the guys name was. It just sounds soooooo phony, in my opinion. I do understand why the writer wanted it said like that, but I think it falls much short and just sounds 'stupid'. What is your "drives me nuts" line?
-
Thanks vallo. You know, in my speculation of the title of it, I completely forgot what my original question about it was lol. I wanted to ask if anyone knows if it's available on DVD - or if the movie even exists anymore. Has anyone ever seen it? On Aussie TV, maybe? I think it would be a wonderful movie to own.

I would love to get a subscription to Now Playing - but it isn't offered in Canada. TCM is working on getting it into Canada - but that won't help, because I have a US satellite. So, I need the US guide, not the Canadian one. If I sent some pre-addressed large envelopes and money for postage (I couldn't pre-stamp the envelopes because of the different stamps) would/could someone out there forward me the issues? The bonus for whoever let me use their address is that you would get to read the magazine - just don't do the crossword puzzles, lol. Any takers? I would like it to be someone I "know" from the boards. Thanks bunches! :-)

I really like them both - and think they were both fine actresses, but I think Olivia was the prettier of the two. It took me a long time to warm up to Olivia, after GWTW. I thought she was soooooooooooooo incredibly 'sucky' as Melanie (who I also took a long time to warm up to). People, in real life, just aren't as good as Melanie in GWTW, so I disliked Melanie for a long time, but grew out of it. Once I did warm up to Olivia, she became one of my very favorite actresses, if not my favorite. I think my favorite Olivia role is, believe it or not, in The Strawberry Blonde which is one of my favorite movies - but I love her in almost anything. Rebecca is also one of my favorite movies. Watching Fontaine as the SOTM a few months back makes me think that the reason she wasn't bigger/better was because she didn't have that many 'dynamite' roles. Which I think was a shame. Prior to watching her SOTM, I would have said Olivia was the better actor - but now I'm not so sure, and feel bad that Fontaine wasn't offered better roles, by people other than Hitchcock, who obviously saw what others didn't. I think the 'feud' is such a shame - maybe because my sister and I are much the same as the deHavilland sisters.

Definitely one of my very favorite movies - and Flynn was so gorgeous with that long blond hair. Yum!
Does anyone know anything about Flynn's early Australian movie which was the first Mutiny on the Bounty - it was apparently called 'something else'* because I can't find it under Mutiny. I would so love to see that version of the movie - and Flynn would be so wonderful as Christian.
*Now, Charlie - I just know you're gonna make a comment about a movie called "Something Else" - *grin* - so I beat you to the punch and looked it up myself. Apparently, there was a TV series called that - and a movie that sounds like crap, except Frank Gorshin was in it. ;-)
-
Stephen King - hey, he does make movies - and he has done cameos - so I'm considering him an 'actor'. Ok, ok, I'm stretching things - - a lot - - - lol. But, you can not begin to imagine how much I want to meet this man.
To be TRUE to the question - Claude Rains.

Funny how they like to take pot-shots at Flynn - jeolous cruds!
I got a book from the library about 20 years ago - don't know who the author was but he should be 'dealt with' severely. I was so POed! He told all the usual crap and then tried to say that Flynn and Ty Power were lovers, which I totally don't believe, BUT he even had the gall to say that they "broke up" because Flynn liked his sex 'this way' and Power liked his sex 'that way'. Like the guy would know, right??? I was doing a 'tazmanian devil dance' (no reference intended lol) to that one, lemme tell ya. I even get mad, now, 20 years later when I think about it. Until I remind myself of what an idiot the author is/was. :-)
