  1. I have waited patiently for you to answer this under "General Problems" to no avail - and since I think it's deserving of an answer, I'm going to post it here and hopefully get a response. Thank you.

I've been wondering for a long time, under the Daily Poll question, why there isn't an option that says "None of these". Sometimes it doesn't apply, but most times it does - like the question about what 'else' Funny Girl should have won an Oscar for. I don't think it should have won another Oscar. When questions like this come up, I don't vote for the question, BUT it's more than that. Not thinking it should have won another Oscar IS a vote. It shouldn't simply be disregarded and not counted. I think people should be given the option of voting for "NO". I really would like to see this option added. Could someone at TCM please answer this. Thank you.

  2. Charlie, since Awakenings with Robert DiNiro and Robin Williams, A Beautiful Mind with Russell Crowe, and Charly with Cliff Robertson are so much alike, especially Awakenings and Charly, I'm just curious which you liked the best, best acting etc. - and why. Unfortunately, I can't answer that in return, I have a handicapped (autistic) son and all these movies, including/especially Rain Man, are too close to home for me. I am just curious as to your opinion. Thanks.

  3. Con, did it work? I'm pretty sure the intermission IS half way through - but that's sure taking a chance. I used to - before I got my beloved DVR - actually set my alarm clock and was sometimes up 3 and 4 times a night. Dedication, hmmm?! Or could it be stupidity? Oh, well - either way heheh - do let us know if you got the movie.

  4. For those of you (like me) to whom complicated IS an issue, lol, the page is at:

    http://turnerclassicmovies.com/schedule/month/?cid=&oid=7/1/2006

when you want to check August's schedule - when it's out - change the 7 to an 8, etc.

Sometimes this page is up - like when I posted the information about Liz Taylor being star of the month - and sometimes you can't get it. I assume that's when it's being worked on by the programmmers. I have a fear that someday they won't let us look ahead, at all. I hope that doesn't happen, however.

Does anyone know why this (nobr) stuff is occuring?

  5. I love the el train, brings back so many memories plus my favorite sound in the world, next to a baby's cry, is the sound of a train so it just "works" for me. Sunny Side of Life is too beautfiul to ever take off the air! Thanks for the info about the artist that I did not know. I'm going to look him up now. One ad that they do not show enough of is the TCM 'credit list' - the one where the names are 'doing something' amusing. I'm sure you know the one I mean. I really enjoy that one - "more" would be nice.

  6. Hi Larry, good to see ya! I sure hope you're wrong and Charlie never gets the reins. Don't you think that's why Elizabeth's holding on so long - waiting for Willie? He might be fun - he seems to have grown up a lot in the last few years - but I totally agree wtih you about that loser Charles. God Bless the Queen - and happy birthday to her.

  7. I just want you to know that I did try to find something - and came up blank, there is a 14 minute "movie" called Flux made in 1996, but it didn't say what it was about; there was an X-rated movie in which the guy is a welder (among other things I'm sure lol); and there are a few movies made for the welding 'trade' - but I wasn't able to come up with anything that sounded like what you're looking for. Sorry!

  8. It's a little bit early to discuss this maybe but near the beginning of July, TCM will be showing all versions, plus documentaries, of The Wizard of Oz. I can't give you the exact day cuz I can't pull up that schedule page any more - hopefully it's just today, but I've had the feeling that with the new schedule that they aren't going to let us look ahead on the 'old' pages anymore - so maybe it won't come back. But - I did get a little look at it. Liz Taylor is SOTM, and there are a lot of great movies - unfortunately, most of them I've seen dozens of times. Oh well - - - there's still gonna be the great month of May.

  9. Yes, they are playing A Place in the Sun on July 13 - I love Monty in that. Gawd, how I would have loved to have seen Richard Burton - what I considered the very best part of Liz Taylor. You know, I just can not believe that her eyes are violet. She could be sitting right here looking at me (God forbid) and I'd still say she was wearing contact lenses. I think one of the - certainly not the only one - reasons I dislike her is because I never, ever, did understand people saying she was beautiful. I just think not! Like I always say - different strokes . . . .

  10. "I read somewhere that Dietrich's family sold the rights to her image to a company that is going to do just that. And who knows what other families will jumpon the money wagon. Scary, no?"

Tracey - scary YES! As for your GWTW, can't you just gag at the idea of Tom Cruise playing Rhett. Oooooooooo that hurts! LOL

  11. I wish I could remove one of my threads, too - but I don't think you can remove them. Nothing wrong here, this is info that people might need to know so you don't need to remove it. However, it will likely soon get lost in the abundance of threads - like my hated thread which I hope never surfaces again. LOL

And - welcome to the boards.

  12. I never knew Lucy was a true blonde - you mean she wasn't a red head?? *she asks amazed* I always thought the blonde Lucy was the dye job - however, I thought she was a beautiful blonde,

Stoney, once again you hit it right on "horseface Sarah Jessica Parker". I can't bear to look at this woman. I've seen her hair color ads and she gives me a pain, therefore I've never been able to watch anything she's in - and doubt I could - and I know that is a real petty reason not to like someone but there it is.

Personally, I like Rita Hayworth ANY way - even blonde. I agree with Orson's decision to change her hair color for "Lady from Shanghai" - he wanted to completely make her different, and he did what he set out to do. I think it "works" but I'll admit that it's hard for me to say/think anything bad about anything Orson ever did - and I adore Rita so . . . . . Nobody should wear their hair parted in the middle, however, it makes a person's nose look bigger. I've read that many places.

  13. "As to so-called 'super' stars, I think this is a name they thought up for themselves. They are not super and they are not stars. They are for the most part overpaid hacks who continue to play themselves, over and over and over."

Go, Stoney! How true that is. I laughed a lot at your comment - - "and after that they eat placentas and jump on couches." I wonder if Tom knows how many of us (yes, me) were kinda borderline about his acting until he made a total fool of himself? But, hey he's a star, right? ;-) I think I was taken in by A Few Good Men since I actually haven't seen many of his movies. I might have confused a good movie with good acting. Forgive me??? lol

  14. There was a Canadian folk singer in the 70s, by the name of Valdi, and he and his wife cooked and ate the placenta. The story was all over the news. I really don't know what these people are thinking - but I don't think Cruise has what it takes to go through with it.

As for my reasons for disliking actors like Marlon Brando, Liz Taylor, etc. I don't want to go into it, because it's really just a matter of taste - and my comments might provoke an argument, which I don't want to do, Without mentioning who is who on my list, I will say that some of them I find no-talent and some I think are full of themselves, as well as other reasons. Like I said, it's personal choice - just like I can't imagine anyone not liking Al Pacino, and yet someone mentioned they don't, and I can't imagine anyone not thinking Brad Pitt has the looks of a Greek god but some people disagree profusely. Different strokes . . . . .
