Hi classicsfan1119...
I agree with you in regards to this month's showings on TCM. What a treat we are in for to watch so many wonderful comedy classics that I know I have rarely seen. Yesterday's "April Fools" kick-off was a lot of fun and essentially reintroduced me to Laurel and Hardy as I hadn't seen much of their work in so many years. Can't wait to watch more of all the great comedians. Thanks TCM! :-)

I think you're right, Stoneyburke666 in regards to appeasing the censors. Most likely, Cary didn't kiss as much in order to toe their line. It seems so many of the earlier films had those "chaste" type kisses or perhaps close-ups of the couple in tender embrace, cheek-to-cheek, rather than show a full kiss or prolonged one as they do today. A passionate kiss could be filmed quite cleverly if shot by someone as skilled as Alfred Hitchcock. My goodness it was done with such intensity! Amazing what you can express without really "showing" much. I think some film makers today would benefit greatly by thinking about that. :-)
Also, I must say that I agree with your assessment of Bogey...he was pretty great in that department too, especially with Lauren Bacall. Smoldering is what they were!

What a great topic! I LOVE Cary Grant. He is one of my all time favs. :-) I thought he and Ingrid Bergman had steamy chemistry in Notorious especially during the infamous scene of "discovery" down in the wine cellar. Also, I liked him with Loretta Young in The Bishop's Wife. I thought they were both very sweet yet remained unrequited (as I suppose they should be) which is why it made me long for more. He was such a gentleman and true professional. I appreciate his excellent manners, way with words, funny wit and that awesome tan. They just don't make them like they used to. It's so hard to fathom the Michael Caine story...I mean, who could NOT know Cary Grant? He was a brilliant star that truly shone bright.
Also...it's nice talking with other TCM fans. This is my first time here and I just adore the TCM channel. It's such a treat to turn it on and find something great to watch each and every time. Thank you TCM for all that you do!
Take care. :-)
