  1. Friday, July 25^th^ *The Sea Hawk* Message was edited by: hlywdkjk
  2. *"Benjamin: Don't like...at all!"* - ILoveRayMilland Is that the brother that does very little dancing? (The brother on the far right in the picture below?) I found myself always watching the group scenes just to see where he was placed inorder to "hide" his lack of dance ability. (Click through for a larger version) Kyle In Hollywood
  3. *"...there's a fascinating board conversation about "Stagecoach" at current, so you are exhibiting good timing..."* - FrankGimes Once an apple-polisher, always an apple-polisher. Don't worry, I am not going to provide visual aids for Professor Cutter's full curriculum. I think I have posted all the most interesting Ford posters by now anyway. And I have an "educational" series all my own planned for August. Kyle In Hollywood
  4. *"Hey, your wildfires pollute much more than our wildfires!"* - ydobon Yeah, That's it. All those wildfires in Houston and LA. (Actually, there was that wildifre in Griffith Park last year.) But what do we care. It all floats Eastward. (Kidding.) Aren't Houston and LA constantly battling for #1 in the "Dirtiest Air" competition every year? I do think LA has highest rate of childrenhood asthma in the nation. And if the "dirt" that gathers on my windowsill everyweek is any indication, I can "see" why. Kyle In Hollywood
  5. Maybe it's because it is fresh in my mind from the recent showing on TCM this past weekend but I like the opening of *West Side Story* very much. Flying overhead looking down on the New York cityscape that gets denser, less familiar and more bleak with each shot until we "land" in that playground. And then finger snapping starts... Kyle In Hollywood
  6. Tuesday, July 22^nd^ *The Velvet Touch* with "Star Of The Month" Rosalind Russell tonight on TCM.
  7. *"I'm sure the 11-13 group won't be as excited, but they are going to get the short end of the stick because there are younger ones in the audience."* - FrankGrimes Too bad Grace Kelly never could make a cameo in *Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo*. Then the teens would have something to look forward to. (And we'd have an new generation of FrankGrimes's to contend with.) Kyle In Hollywood
  8. *"...the kids ages are from around 5 to 13, so it's gotta be something appropriate and that they can understand. Any suggestions?"* - sarah1493 I think *The Love Bug* could be quite popular. I'd also recommend - *The Incredible Journey* (1963) http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=79177 or its remake *Homeward Bound - The Incredible Journey* (1993) http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=78280 *My Side Of The Mountain* (1969) http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=84393 *Babe* (1995) http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=67844 *Free Willy* (1995) http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=18366 Though the popular latter films may have been seen by most of the audience by this time in their lives. 9. J0hnN - The TCM schedules for the US and Canada sometimes vary due to licensing rights for films. See the message in the TCM Support Center for "TCM In Canada". http://support.tcm.com In regards to this Friday, it is pretty certain that Canada will be seeing *The Picture Of Dorian Gray* in place of the Walt Disney *Bedknobs And Broomsticks*. Apparently, some of the Disney Live-Action films that have been licensed to TCM don't include permission to show them in Canada. I checked yesterday's afternoon schedule and TCM in the US showed *The Shaggy Dog* while TCM viewers in Canada were offered a '30s Clark Gable/Fay Wray film in that same time slot. But that licensing arrangement must allow some Disney films to be shown on TCM in Canada. In August, the Disney films *The Absent-Minded Professor* and *Son Of Flubber* are part of Fred MacMurray's "Summer Under The Stars" day. (See August 9^th^ of the Canadian Schedule.) But it does _not_ include the showing of *The Shaggy Dog* that is being rerun in the US on that day. Enjoy *The Picture Of Dorian Gray*. Kyle In Hollywood
  10. Not expecting it to happen for at least ten or more years - barring something unforeseen and tragic - I'd put my money on Alec Baldwin. In the past year, he has proven himself as both a Guest Programmer and as an Interviewer ("Role Model: Gene Wilder"). I think he he has a sincere appreciation for the channel and would be truly excited to be the "face" of TCM. I wouldn't be disappointed if Elvis Mitchell was offered the position either. Kyle In Hollywood
  11. Hi Hollis. Nice to see your name around here. (And I hope you are around long enough to read this.) No. I own _none_ of the posters I have posted in this thread. I have only collected their digital images from the internet. And they have come from multiple sources (many forgotten) over many years. I hope you come back and check in often. Kyle In Hollywood
  12. *"At this point if I could just kiss a Frenchman in Paris (in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower would be optimum), I would be pretty darn happy."* - Mlle. Minya Then don't forget to pack that provocative red dress you've spoken of and wander the Left Bank. Can't miss. *"He can't be a mime, though."* Certainment. The "_strong_ and silent" type they definitely are not. Kyle In Hollywood
  13. *"...I'm particularly appreciative of this week's selection."* - Mlle Minya Thank you. And you're welcome. Have you found a "Johnny" of your own? It's an accessory every vampy dame needs. Or are you hoping to find him Paris? (see *A Little Romance* - sort of.) Kyle In Hollywood
  14. *"...I'm starting to fear the worst is around the next corner."* - FrankGrimes The paranoia has finally set in. Kyle In Hollywood Message was edited by: hlywdkjk because the errant space made my reply disappear.
  15. *"Kyle I think you mistakenly responded to johnbabe. Was it in error?"* - hamradio No. I chose "reply to thread" rather than having to choose between one of the two members to whom I directed the post. It seemed the most "diplomatic" method of posting. Just to be clear, "johnbabe" should not be implicated in any way with what I wrote below. Kyle In Hollywood
  16. To the two of you. Leave each other alone. You both are only drawing attention to yourselves - and not for he best reasons. It is very unflattering coming as it does from two members who have contributed positively to these Forums in the past. But this behavior is becoming increasingly annoying even for those of us that have not taken sides. And it is starting to spill across multiple threads. Keep this up and you're both just drawing targets on your back. Is that what you want? Otherwise, let it and each other alone. Kyle In Hollywood
  17. *"I wanna play. Can I be Aaron Burr?"* - ydobon Not until we know who you think is Alexander Hamilton. Kyle In Hollywood
  18. *"Kyle, it did get a smile out of me. But I was thinking of Lynn as Franklin..."* - filmlover Oh. And here she was telling everyone she had knee surgery. Now I see. She's hobbling around on a cane because she's got a bad case of the gout. Kyle In Hollywood
