*"Is this because we were talking about underwear?"* - Mlle. Minya Underwear??????? I'll have you know Hercules wears a men's peplum. Kyle In Hollywood Message was edited by: hlywdkjk -
This is all conjecture on my part so take it for what it is worth. (Admittedly, not very much. I am often "wrong" with my hypotheses.) Many of the B-Movie / Franchise films made their debut on TCM last November when we were treated to a different series every day that month. I am thinking that many of the leases for these films lasted only a year - or less. That may be why they have slowly disappeared from the upcoming schedules. But I am sure they could be re-leased to the channel. Is there a series that TCM hasn't shown recently that would be a good acquisition? I bet TCM would be interested in suggestions of something "new" that they haven't shown before. As for the Chan and Moto films, TCM may be hesitant to show them outside of the context of the "Race In Hollywood" series. But, at the same time, it's not as if they haven't shown themselves to be responsible in these matters. If TCM wants someone to intrroduce them, I nominate my man 'markbeckhuaf'. I'd be "totally groovin' " on that. So keep up the lobbying effort. We all know that the programmers read these Boards and pay attention to what is discussed here. Kyle In Hollywood

*Sponsored Links* in "gmail", huh? Like Google needs the extra money. *"...I decided to listen to a couple of episodes of The Great Gildersleeve-much enjoyment was had."* - Mlle. Minya That's cool. The stories are very much character-driven so I am sure it is odd to try to "catch on" with an episode that may have been from the middle of the series. I have been devoting most of my online listening to "Fibber McGee and Molly" for the past few weeks. (And where the Gildersleeve character first appeared.) The show was more than just an overflowing closet. (See *Paper Moon*.) It's humor is full of lots of puns and "groaners". But it was also very engaged in storylines that reflected the times during the War Years. The show had stories that integrated Scrap Drives, Ration Points, War Bonds, Price Controls and War Plant Work into the lives of the characters. Supporting characters joined the WAACs and the Coast Guard (or maybe it was the Merchant Marines.) Either way, it is extremely different from what passes for "War-time Entertainment" today. But I often go to sleep listening to The Whistler. It is played for an hour every night on the Internet Radio Station that I have bookmarked. http://radio.macinmind.com/ I wonder when "Signal Gas Stations" disappeared from the highways? Mlle Minya - I find that very funny - especailly after I shocked the membership when I announced that I was posting in my BVDs not too long ago. (Thatnkfully, it hasn't been as warm in Hollywood lately) I didn't know that "gmail" placed ads on their email messages. But it doesn't surprise me. I have received email from "yahoo" users that always includes a link to "yahoo" when displaying the message. Do you think 'gmail' scanned the content of that particular message and decided Underwear Ads were the perfect link for all the posts from me that get forwarded to you. Otherwise, I guess 'gmail' thinks the keywords "Kyle / Hollywood / One-A-Day" are somehow underwear related words. The "One-A-Day" part makes sense. Doesn't eveyone have their underwear printed with the days of the week? Kyle In Hollywood (And go ahead. Google "Kyle's Hot Boxers" and see what ya get. No one will know.) -

*"To me, the early sound version of Cleopatra was much more memorable, all the way through it."* - FredCDobbs I thought that version (Colbert) was scheduled for September - but TCM is showing an early slent that month. (September 7^th^) http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=336572 -
*"Michael Richards does a voiceover for an interstitial on Red Skelton. I'd bet it was done before the heckling incident."* - Fedya Yep. This type of interstitial is created for "Star Of The Month" events. And Red Skelton was "Star Of The Month" _ten years ago_ - in April 1998. *"One wonders which side the original poster would take in the Jane Fonda debate."* If I remember correctly, that thread was started by a "one-post wonder" also - as was the recent "Shame On You TCM" thread calling out the channel for spotlighting Frank Sinatra on Memorial Day Weekend and virtually _all_ the rest of the "offended sensibility" threads. The 100 Greatest movies of all time: How many have you seen
hlywdkjk replied to skimpole's topic in General Discussions
I've seen a (surprising) Fifty of the films. And for those wondering what the second column of numbers refers to, I think it deignates the film's previous "ranking" on the site's last compilation list. Personally, I am partial to the list of 100 Greatest Films found at filmsite.org http://www.filmsite.org/momentsindx.html#100greats I used it (and the companion Another 100 Greates Films) on which to build my film library and guide my viewing habits. *"Could you tell me where to find the schedule? I am only aware of the schedules posted through September..."* - OneSharpDame Don't fret. You haven't missed it. The October Schedule isn't available online yet. When it does become available, you will be able to find it at this link - http://www.tcm.com/schedule/month/?cid=&timezone=EST&oid=10/1/2008 (Eastern Time Zone) Kyle In Hollywood

Regarding *The General* - Many libraries (and even Netflix) have a copy of *The General* that uses a score comprised of classical music pieces - notably Elgar's "Pomp And Circumstance". If that is what you have at home, put it aside and don't bother watching it. It is insufferable. But if your copy has a score composed specifically for the film then I think I'd choose *The General*. And then you will be ready to watch Keaton's *Sherlock, Jr.* later in the month. Of course, you could watch both. Each are great fun. (How did you miss *Harvey* being shown on TCM last Sunday?) Not Gaining Any Extra Spance PM Box Full!
hlywdkjk replied to gagman66's topic in Information, Please!
*"? Why do I have to open the message first before it can be deleted?"* - gagman66 You can delte a message without having it open. When you go to your PM mailbox, there's the "list" of messages. Just "tic" the little box on the far right of the message line of any / all messages you want to delete. By "tic-ing" any of the boxes, you will then activate a button at the bottom of the list marked "delete" (beneath all those boxes"). After tic-ing, click on the "delete button and those messages will disappear. I suggest you start deleting on the oldest page of the messages in any folder. (I have four pages of messages in my Inbox. Page 4 has the oldest messages. Look for the page number in the footer underneath the list of messages.) Just keep "tic-ong" boxes of the messages you want to discard on a page and then hit delete. If you want to delete _all_ the messages listed on a page, you can "tic" the box in the blue header at the top of the list of messages on a page. That puts a mark in each of the boxes and you can hit the "delete" button in the footer of the list and remove them all in one step. Of course, you might want to open some messages and re-read them before you decide to delete them. I always right click on a message and open it using the "Open In A New Window" option, check it out and then close the new window. This way I keep the mesage list open in a window for easy "tic-ing" Do this for the "Inbox" folder and the "Sent" folder adn you will have a cleaned up PM Mailbox in just a few minutes. The 100 Greatest movies of all time: How many have you seen

*"You know what I would find very interesting? If TCM were to host a top 100 list on their site..."* - ccbaxter I knew there would come a time when this obscure link would come in handy. This link takes you to page listing the 150 most "popular" film entry pages in the TCMDatabase. http://www.tcm.com/top/titles/?cid=177227 Now, this certainly isn't a "critical" list of the best films of all time and it is probably influenced by what is on the TCM schedule over a period of weeks but it does give one a pretty good idea in what TCM viewers are interested on any given day. (I guess it is compiled by counting "page views" but I am not sure about that.) Here are the top ten listings this morning - 1. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) 2. Scarface (1932) 3. Casablanca (1942) 4. Imitation of Life (1959) 5. Written on the Wind (1957) 6. Freaks (1932) 7. The Shop Around the Corner (1940) 8. The Third Man (1949) 9. The Manchurian Candidate (1962) 10. Ball of Fire (1942) Kyle In Hollywood -

gagman66 - Your PM Mailbox will hold 200 "messages". That includes all messages in any of your folders - Inbox / Sent / Drafts, etc. So don't forget to delete any unnecessary copies of sent messages in your "Sent" folder. And the "meter" begins reading "red" at 75% capacity (150 total "messages"). Kyle In Hollywood -
GIANT KILLER RATS INVADE TORONTO......
hlywdkjk replied to CINEPHOBIA's topic in General Discussions
edonline - While I think this is a disruptive post also, in the past, TCM tolerated postings in here that are related to film screenings and similar announcements. They draw the line at postings of a purely commercial nature. If you still want to report this posting, there is a link under "Announcements" on the Forum Home Page of the Message Boards. gagman66 - Lynn is right. A member's mailbox gets "reset" after midnight (EDT) every day. I, too, panicked on day trying to get that red meter to go down. I deleted to well under one hundred messages but it wouldn't acknowledge it. But all I had to do is wait until the next day. Rest easy. Unless you're planning on a mass mailing before midnight, you should be fine. Kyle In Hollywood -
