*"I sense Ford/Cooper Movie Poster Madness!!!!! Yeeeaaahhhhh!!!!"* - Mlle. Fleur de Lis Now, now. If that was what I had planned, it would be best posted to that 'torture" thread, wouldn't it? Nope. That's not what I am thinking of doing. (Though I _do_ have to do something with all those *Stagecoach* posters.) Let's just say, it excites me but I fear it wil be met with a collective "yawn" by many others. But that is all weeks away yet. I did notice today that "Gary Cooper" has been absent from here all month. (55 days to be exact.) And July won't be of any help as he enver made a film with Rosalind Russell. I don't know if the "gals" will ever forgive me. Kyle In Hollywood -

There are certain posters that go up that I intuitively know will be well-received - and today's was one of those. Though I, like 'visualfeast', don't quite understand the photo image of Robert Montgomery in the poster either. It's not like Montgomery isn't easily rendered by an artist. (See *The Lady In The Lake* posted May 31^st^.) As to the "milestone" noted below... At first I thought I had somehow reached 3000 _posters._ (Remember, it's mind-numbingly hot in this apartment.) Snapping back to reality, I looked over at that number next to my cryptic monker and, sure enough, it reads 3000. Hmmm. Didn't see _that_ coming. And if FrankGrimes hadn't pointed it out, I likely wouldn't have noticed 'til it was long past. 3000 posts in three years, while interesting to note, doesn't impress me nearly as much as the number of page views this thread has had in little over six months. It pleases me much more to know that many members pop in here every day to see what piece of ephemera I've chosen to share with the community. Now _that's_ special. So, "Thanks" to all of you that stop by here making this thread a popular destination of the Message Boards. I'm glad you are enjoying yourslves...because I am having a ball in here. (Of course, that might change after what I have planned for the month of August. ) Kyle In Hollywood -

Hi 'cinemafan' - The banner ads have been around for quite awhile - though the Revlon ad is "new". I have seen banner ads for "L.L. Bean", TNT shows and Golfing over the past few months. If your problems are recent, than the banner ads themselves may not be the problem. Were you also the poster having trouble navigating through the Site Header at the top of the page because it wouldn't respond when you clicked on a "link" in the header? If so, then you may have a problem with your "Flash" program. Or the "header" just isn't loading completely leaving you with unresponsive links in the header. I am not a geek who is qualified to suggest how to remedy that for you if that is the source of the problem. Maybe someone else can be more helpful. Kyle In Hollywood

Regarding the "Suggest A Movie" feature, I believe many of the postings can be written off to mischief and TCM will disregard those suggestions appropriately. But there is also the possibity that some of the postings are legitimate and come from International viewers of TCM. TCM in other countries is much different than the US/Canadian version. In the UK (as in most of the international versions), contemporary films are a prominent part of the line-up and in Latin America, classic television shows are featured everyday. Some of the International versions do have their own websites - but others do not. That could explain some of the unusual postings. And it is quite possible that even the international TCM websites link to the TCM Database hosted here which could draw those viewers to post in the "Suggest A Movie" found here. Glancing though a few pages over there, I did see some requests from overseas viewers. Someone from the Netherlands wants to see *The Strawberry Statement*. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing that one either. Kyle In Hollywood And a "shout out" to "Jane in Minneapolis" who seems to post notices of fullfiled requsets on upcoming schedules at the site. Nice Job! Message was edited by: hlywdkjk

*"...it sounded like they had sunk a lot of money into renovation, but they are in the business of self promotion."* - Mlle Fleur de Lis Well, I guess paint _is_ expensive. I actually can't speak to what has been done to the apts. by the current owners. I moved in long before they acquired the building. But a lot of the details that make a building from the 20s unique and chrming were removed before even I moved in. kjk -

This is sort of the view from my apartment window. I found this on Google/'flickr'. Though, instead of looking toward the "Ojai" from the right of the building, I look straight on. And the sign on the roof of the "Ojai" is neon and is lit up as I type. (to my neighbor across the street who obviously took this picture, apologies for borrowing it.) And believe me, my building pales in comparison to the Alto Nido. That one was never let fall into disrepair. Can't say the same for mine. kjk -

*"...but I have this mental image now of you in some forties style apartment, near a window looking out over the naked city and it's eight million stories, sitting in front of a computer that somehow has a classic typewriter keyboard..."* - Mlle. Minya Sounds like you've got me confused with Joe Gilles. But, the truth is my '20s apartment is very much like Joe Gilles' in the Alto Nido from *Sunset Blvd.* - which is just a few blocks away - but the building is not nearly as nice. http://www.altonidoapts.com/ If you're interested, there seems to be a vacancy in the Alto Nido - http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/apa/719334360.html And rather than looking out over the Naked City, I look up the hill toward the location of the Valentino estate and the hilltop spanish bungalow that is in *The Day Of The Locust*. My building - http://www.swelgroup.com/haven.htm (Don't know what is up with the photo. It looks like a facade!) And as for the pipe, that's a bit too Melvyn Douglas in *Mr. Blandings...* for me. But if you wanna be Myrna Loy... Kyle In Hollywood -
Hi 'sudable44' - Nice to see around here again. It's been awhile that I've seen your screenname. Hello All - After I was seemingly "knighted" by her highness FlowerShower" (aka - 'rainingviolets'), I thought a *Royal Wedding* was in order. (The Order of Sir Kyle In Holly Wood?). The other choice for the day will have to wait. What Mlle. Minya doesn't know won't hurt her. Everyone seems to be excited about *The Crimson Kimono*. I may just have to tune also - so 'scsu1975' and I can find out what "the lady in green" is up to. No good? But I hold no illusions that FrankGrimes will actually watch it. He seems to be all talk when it comes to _watching_ TCM. ( "What was his strange appeal..." is something I mutter everytime I wander into the FrankGrimes thread.) Glad "Mlle." is feeling alive with the sound of ... I don't know what. Loons? Nah. Those are in Minnesota - and wherever the Thayers summer on Golden Pond. Whatever sound it may be, have a wonderful, cough-free weekend. Yes. It is hot down here. Hopefully the power stays on. I have a new window fan next to my desk which came with a digital thermometer built in. Thanks to this new fangled fan, I know that it is 95^0^ in my apartment. Sadly, I know that is correct - even at 8 o'clock in the evening. Newman and Woodward have nothing on the Long, Hot Summer I have ahead. So, now you all know that if I am online this summer, I am sitting here typing away in my BVDs. Kyle In Hollywood
