  1. *"Wouldn't you say Widmark was psychopathic in "KISS OF DEATH"? He was a pickpocket in "PICK-UP ON SOUTH STREET."* Of course! My mistake. I've only seen the clip of the wheelchair scene and thought it was from *Pickup On South Street*. Thanks for the opportunity to correct the error. Kyle In Hollywood
  2. *"Moms ARE sexy. Do I want to view my mom as sexy? No! But other moms are sexy."* - FrankGrimes Balderdash! Mommy? You just "Dial M..." everytime. Don't forget to call your Mom today - even if you're still living in her basement Kyle In Hollywood
  3. OK, I'll play - _Machiavellian_ - Burt Lancaster in *Seven Days In May* (having seen the clips recently in the Lancaster promo) Anne Baxter in *All About Eve* _Psychopathic_ - Robert Mitchum in *Night Of The Hunter* Richard Widmark in *Kiss Of Death* (thanks Cinemaven) _Narcissistic_ - Andy Griffith in *A Face In The Crowd* Vivien Leigh in *Gone With The Wind* Kyle In Hollywood Message was edited by: hlywdkjk to correct the Widmark error
  4. Sunday May 11^th^ And another that I stumbled upon the other day.
  5. *"How about Nashville ?"* Good one 'scsu1975' - though I prefer to never see it again. Once was enough. I'll add two - *Inherit The Wind* http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=16639 "The townsmen of Hillsboro, Tennessee, led by Rev. Jeremiah Brown, arrest high school biology teacher Bertram T. Cates for violating a state law that prohibits the teaching of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution." And one I am not familiar with but would make a point to see - *All The Way Home* with Jean Simmons and Robert Preston http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=67096 "In the early 1900's Tennessee, a loving family undergoes the shock of the father's sudden, accidental death." Kyle In Hollywood
  6. *"And I loved Dorothy McGuire in A Summer Place, sort of another mom movie!"* - casablancalover I always confuse *A Summer Place* with *The Summer Of '42*. And I don't think I should! Kyle In Hollywood
  7. 'joefilmone' and 'Minya' - For comparison, here's a smaller version of the *Cat On A Hot Tin Roof* posted on January 26^th^. And I think the similarity you both noticed is quite valid.
  8. *"As for your mom...does she freeze her salads, too?"* - dianabat No. But I am sure on any given day there is a fifty pound block of cheese the 'fridge. Kyle In Hollywood
  9. Saturday May 10^th^ All I had was a (rather mediocre) poster for tonight's Essential selection ... ...until 'whistlingypsy' saved the day and sent me this wonderful Lobby Card for the film. Many thanks to 'whistlingypsy'
  10. Albert Brooks' *Mother* is a perfect representation of my relationship with my mother. Though "we" haven't gotten to the resolution found in the film yet. "The ice cream isn't old. That's just the protective layer of ice." Kyle In Hollywood
  11. *"Yes, there is speculation but the lack of supply is the problem."* Uh, as oil futures are traded in US dollars and the US dollar is worth only a fraction against the currencies of the rest of the Industrial World, the "cost" of the barrel of oil goes up as the value of the dollar goes down. And what happened to President Bush's assertion that all he had to do to combat riising gas prices was to call his friends in the House Of Saud and tell them to release more oil? Just wondering... Kyle In Hollywood
  12. *" already on notice. Although it's quite possible my daughter will spend some of the day with me."* - movieman1957 Sounds like a great Father-Daughter experience. And in case you hadn't noticed, some of the Laurel & Hardy shorts are being made available On Demand this month. *The Live Ghost* (never seen before) has been available this past week and *Beau Hunks* became available for a week starting today (Friday). I hope you have access to them on your cable system. Kyle In Hollywood
  13. *"Summer Under The Stars Rocks the freaking house!!!"* - markbeckhuaf Does this mean all is forgiven re: *Rush Hour 2* ? (And you had doubts that August could be interesting.) Happy to see you happy, pal. Kyle In Hollywood
  14. *"That's 32 Stan and Ollie films."* - movieman1957 Time to plan where to send the rest of the family for the day, 'movieman'. The Zoo? The Amusement Park? The Grandparents? 'Cause I know you won't want to be disturbed for 24 hours. I think all the L&H titles that are without descriptions right now are "new to TCM". I know that *Brats* is new. Been wanting to see that again for a long time. I am looking forward to catching the Gregory Peck film *Man WIth A Million*, most of "Marie Dressler" day and some of the Fred MacMurray titles. I think it is a great line-up for August... but, why oh why put *84 Charing Cross Road* on in the middle of the night? Kyle In Hollywood
  15. *"Another piece of great art. I wonder if these artists were paid what they were worth, or whether their work was considered "just commercial stuff"?"* - visualfeast I am sure it was the latter. I would hope they were "on staff" and were at least paid a salary and not on a "piece by piece" basis. Kyle In Hollywood
  16. *"Mr. Grimes will be ever so excited when he sees this!!!!"* - Mlle Minya Ya think so? Actually, I felt it necessary to atone for my "Gabby" ways in the Coop Gals thread this week. I don't want them on my bad side. Kyle In Hollywood
  17. Thursday May 8^th^ A "Gary Cooper's Birthday Hangover"
  18. I see it didn't take long for this thread to degenerate into racist "humor". I didn't expect such stupidity from the crew in here. Especially when knowing TCM's "Asian Images" event is coming next month. Kyle In Hollywood
  19. Fedya - I don't think the "Asian Images" site is available in a non-Flash format but you can read more about the plans for the event here - http://www.tcm.com/movienews/index/?cid=200106 I am sure it is not nearly as extensive as the Flash site but it might give you some of the info you seek. Kyle In Hollywood
  20. Oh! I hear there's another birthday today too. Wednesday May 7^th^ Happy Birthday Gary Cooper
  21. Wednesday May 7^th^ Happy Birthday George "Gabby" Hayes
  22. *"I never missed a single one. Even when I'm away from the boards for days I play catch-up on your poster entries."* - bOb39 That's good to know. And flattering to boot. Kyle In Hollywood Message was edited by: hlywdkjk (broken link)
  23. > {quote:title=scsu1975 wrote:}{quote} > North by Northwest (Mt. Rushmore) I (and George Kaplan) concur. Kyle In Hollywood
