  1. I haven't seen any of the "interviews" yet but I did catch the promo for the series as a whole. And while the music didn't bother me, the "accent" of the voice-over did.

But I defer to the folks at TCM on their choices on such matters. I already expressed my concerns about the "Creative Cutting" promos and was found to be alone in my criticism of the pieces. (And I still don't think I necessarily am "wrong" about those.)

  2. *"Yes, there is speculation but the lack of supply is the problem."*

Uh, as oil futures are traded in US dollars and the US dollar is worth only a fraction against the currencies of the rest of the Industrial World, the "cost" of the barrel of oil goes up as the value of the dollar goes down.

And what happened to President Bush's assertion that all he had to do to combat riising gas prices was to call his friends in the House Of Saud and tell them to release more oil?

    Just wondering...

  3. *" already on notice. Although it's quite possible my daughter will spend some of the day with me."* - movieman1957

Sounds like a great Father-Daughter experience.

And in case you hadn't noticed, some of the Laurel & Hardy shorts are being made available On Demand this month. *The Live Ghost* (never seen before) has been available this past week and *Beau Hunks* became available for a week starting today (Friday). I hope you have access to them on your cable system.

  4. *"To show you how good my eyes are, I didn't even notice that little underline between "Nando" and "Morton"! "*

Hey. Don't blame your eyes. The format of the Forums to underline all user names makes the underline symbol "disappear". You couldn't see it because it's not really there.

It took me a while to learn that all "two word" names in these Forums have that symbol between the first and second word.

And, if in doubt, click on a user name to go the that member's posting history. THe correct spelling is always found on that page.

  5. *"That's 32 Stan and Ollie films."* - movieman1957

Time to plan where to send the rest of the family for the day, 'movieman'. The Zoo? The Amusement Park? The Grandparents? 'Cause I know you won't want to be disturbed for 24 hours.

I think all the L&H titles that are without descriptions right now are "new to TCM". I know that *Brats* is new. Been wanting to see that again for a long time.

I am looking forward to catching the Gregory Peck film *Man WIth A Million*, most of "Marie Dressler" day and some of the Fred MacMurray titles.

I think it is a great line-up for August...

but, why oh why put *84 Charing Cross Road* on in the middle of the night?

  6. I see it didn't take long for this thread to degenerate into racist "humor".

I didn't expect such stupidity from the crew in here. Especially when knowing TCM's "Asian Images" event is coming next month.

  7. 'tobitz' and 'nightwalker' -

Make sure you include the little "underline" mark between "Nando" and "Morton" - Nando_Morton - and capitlaize where appropriate. (click on the user name to see the exact spelling)

    Nando_Morton -

Here's the _best_ I can do for ya.

  8. *"Works for me. Thanks Kyle."* - bOb39

    You're most welcome!

I also have a German *Tarzan* poster that I hope to put up one day.

I used too believe that I had enough posters to post one-a-day for about a year. I think it could actually last for closer to two years. Or more. (Hard to believe that this thread has already been going for six months.)
