Here's the email announcement I received from TCM -
-------------------
Schedule Change Announced for Wednesday May 7th.
Last summer TCM presented a day of Roy Rogers films during our annual "Summer Under The Stars" event but the print quality of those films was (very) poor. This caused us great distress and we have been wanting to present these films again when we had access to better prints of these notable westerns. Our work has finally paid off. Our distributor came through and we now have very good prints of some of these films.
To celebrate these new prints, we decided to present them on a very special occasion - the 110th birthday of Roy Rogers's sidekick George "Gabby" Hayes this coming Wednesday, May 7th.
New daytime schedule for Wednesday May 7th -
3:00 AM *Young Buffalo Bill* (1940) Buffalo Bill Cody tries to help a rancher protect a diamond mine on his property. Cast: Roy Rogers, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Pauline Moore. Dir: Joseph Kane. C-59 mins,

*"That's b/c you will be glued to the tv enjoying every second of every one of Gary's movies that they wil be showing "* - coopsgirl
Uh, didn't you and the rest of the posse get the email alert from TCM about the schedule change for this Wednesday?
Lord give me strength!. Do I have to be the one to break it you all? This is terrible. Please tell me _someone_ already knows. I shouldn't have to do this to you.

*"I don't understand why some members of TCM Nation are so negative about seeing a television special such as this but many of them were enthusiastic about seeing Dick Cavett interview Bette Davis, Groucho Marx, Katherine Hepburn and Alfred Hitchcock."* - thomasterryjr
As I remember it, many folks were dead set against TCM showing the Cavett interviews - until they saw them. I admit their scheduling raised my eyebrows. But each was a wonderful addition to the programming. Funnily, the TCM "original" interview with Mel Brooks was probably the weakest of all the Cavett programs. Thomas Wolfe was right.

Well, I guess I chose the right Valentino poster to post today - I got an approval from a professional and a drooling Mlle. Minya. Can't get much more successful than that.
Thanks 'visualfeast' and 'Minya'.

*"Didn't TCM show Elvis' 1969 TV show a little while ago?"* - vallo13
I don't remember that - but that's not to say it couldn't have happened. I'll admit to ignoring "Elvis" on the TCM schedule.
I do remember two Elvis concert films though -
*Elvis On Tour* (1972)

and *Elvis:That's The Way It Is - Special Edition* (2000)

*"I thought that "High Society" took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania..."* - Sandy K
You'd think that the musical remake of *The Philadelphia Story* would take place there, wouldn't ya?
But I think the premise for having Louis Armstrong in the film is to have him performing at the "Newport (R.I.) Jazz Fest" so the location was changed.
And I guess by the 1950s, Newport was more emblematic of "High Society" than Philly.

*"I would welcome Judy's shows, as well as Streisand's early TV specials."* - visualfeast
I don't know if I am ready to go there just yet. (Two of Barbra Streisand specials appeared on PBS a few years ago.) But I was happy to see the first Sinatra special last night. I think it appropriate to showcase these performances by a legend who was a star in both film and music. And, unlike Elvis, Sinatra never made a "concert film" that could be incorporated into the schedule.
Thankfully, unless all Hell breaks loose later in the month, it seems the Frank Sinatra specials on TCM are going to pass with only a whimper.
There doesn't seem to be any desire to re-fight the "Dick Cavett Wars of '06".

*"What’s this 1965 TV show doing on TCM?"*
Gosh, Fred. What took you so long?
You nearly destroyed my faith in "Dobbsian Nature."

I don't have a problem with your dissecting my post for typos. (At least I am one of the few that can spell Mankiewicz) But I hope you understand that a "typo" is much different than stating something as fact that is not true.
I also hope you'd agree that Robert Osborne would have caught the mistake in the text immediately. And it says "something" about Ben Mankiewicz that he didn't.
I'd bet the July rent that even Rose McGowan would have caught the error.

That exchange between Robert Osborne and Rose McGowan is one of the highlights of the series so far.
To see their looks of mutual surprise when they each said "Vivien Leigh" was MasterCard priceless.

*"After a few of these, he probably doesn't even know what he's saying any more."* - laffite
Quite possible - but I would bet the rent that RO would have caught THIS gaffe in the copy and made the change before taping. If I remember correctly, he and Lucille Ball were friends and he even shows up in the PBS American Masters program about her. RO knows what Jerry Herman musical Lucille Ball starred in - and more importantly who starred in *Hello, Dolly!*.
The most "enlightening" aspect about this stumble was realizing Ben Mankiewicz has never seen *Hello, Dolly* or he would have quickly caught it himself. He probably never watched *The Matchmaker* which he introduced today either. He really showed himself to be a suspect film fan with this "outro".
Right about now, I'd bet _next_ month's rent he'd read Thorton Wilder is Gene Wilder's father if it was placed in front of him.
Wouldn't it be fiun to think that it was "sabotage" and that the writers have it in for him?
"Up next, Audrey Hepburn as the original Sabrina, The Teenage Witch".

*"I love "Some Came Running." It's a huge favorite of mine."* - FrankGrimes
That's great (and surprising) though I don't think the poster is all that interesting. (All text. Little illustration.) But I wanted to note tonight's beginning of the Sinatra Event on TCM - even though *Some Came Running* isn't scheduled until the end of the month.
This has been a very difficult month to plan out. Two days a week for Sinatra, exciting Essentials to acknowledge and Memorial Day - for which I have some really unique items to offer.
And then there is that extra-special birthday on the 7^th^.
With so many TCM events to plan around, it leaves little room for creativity. Maybe next month. But June has two nights a week for the Asian Images series. I guess there's always August.

If you go to Dan Duryea's listing in the TCMDatabase, you can browse through all the films Duryea has made and synopses of all the films. Maybe you can find the title that way.
http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/participant/participant.jsp?spid=54835&apid=35099
To display the complete Duryea filmography, just click on the "more" found at the bottom of the column on the left. Click through on each of the titles to be able to read the details on each film.
If you are sure you saw the film on TV in the 1950s, I would pay close attention to his films from the 1940s in your search. When you find the page for the desired title, that page will also tell you if the film is available on Home Video on the right side of the page.
Good Luck.

*"when I win the lottery and am able to buy the aforementioned 17th century farmhouse, it will be much easier to get on with the locals."*
Have you seen *La Glorie de Mon Pere* and (especially) the sequel *La Chateau de Mon Mere* ? I think you'd enjoy them.
(But I wouldn't put the poster for *The Bait* on your farmhouse front door.)

Am I wrong or did/does Regis Philbin have some sort of (tenuous?) connection to the Rat Pack and Frank Sinatra? I know he was the announcer for Joey Bishop's television show but did it go further than that?
If so, I wonder if he was approached to offer reminiscences of Frank Sinatra during this month's Sinatra event? I am not too excited to hear from Sinatra's children every Wednesday evening and am hoping TCM asked some other "showbusiness" associates to speak on him.
