I'm confused. Maybe as much as RO. The only Keaton film shown last night was part of the "Essntials, Jr." series and that was intro'd by Bill Hader. The rest of the films shown, which would have a RO intro, were L&H, Max Linder and Harold Lloyd films. So how did Buster Keaton even come up? Kyle In Hollywood

Second Alert to Movie Too Late--0 hours warning

*" Last night, I got the second warning at 11 pm PT. That was exactly the time it started here."* - 'solarblast' Are you sure you saw it last night? *Mr. Hulot's Holiday* is showing _tonight_ (Sunday) at 11pm PDT in the traditional "TCM Imports" slot. I hope you see this message - and the film - in time. Kyle In Hollywood -

2011 Turner Classic Movies DVD catalog Review
hlywdkjk replied to skyhook909's topic in General Discussions
*"But consider for a moment it's purpose: a sales-tool To sell DVD movies for MOVIES UNLIMITED. TCM has their name on it in big letters and down below you find in small letters the MU logo. To be fair I think the order should be reversed. It is aimed at those folks who buy very popular titles. Titles that are easily available almost anywhere else."* And where in the promo does it claim to be anything else than a catalogue selling DVDs? The whole piece is built around the idea of collecting DVDs and building one's own library. Kyle In Hollywood -

TCM should show great TV mini-series' from the past...

I think this entire thread should be moved over to the TNT Message Boards. "TNT Knows Drama" (and Basketball.) Kyle In Hollywood -
*"I have only been watching since last summer and have the 2011 Movie Guide which lists the thousands of titles that you have for sale. Do you not also have these titles in your archives?"* - kuklapolitan First, Cheers Burr Tillstrom! Second, the TCM Video catalogue is just that - a catalogue of videos for sale from MoviesUnlimited, a second-hand party which created that book specifically for the TCM viewer/video shopper. It is not a listing of all the films TCM owns or controls or can schedule for showing on the channel in any given month. The films available for showing on TCM over a period of six months is a MUCH smaller number than what you find in the TCM Video Catalogue. Kyle In Hollywood

TCM should show great TV mini-series' from the past...
hlywdkjk replied to a topic in General Discussions
No. In a 300+ universe of cable television channels, there are multiple oulets on which such programming would be a better fit. It would be difficult to justify showing multi-part dramatic series from commercial television on TCM. Nor can I think of any context that could make them attractive additions to the TCM line-up. Kyle In Hollywood -
TCM has in the past, I believe, shown *The Longest Day* on June 6th. The film has definitely been shown on TCM. (They have also shown "Pearl Harbor" films on December 7th.) But the anniversary of D-Day comes so soon after Memorial Day when TCM presents military films all weekend-long every year. Therefore, some years TCM doesn't acknowledge the invasion at Normandy. If, as 'wouldbestar' has written, AMC has shown the film recently, then it is likely that channel has the television lease on the film and it wouldn't be available to TCM anyway. But it is a great film to watch today - or any day. Kyle In Hollywood

*"I said I was using generalities."* - gatester But doing so in the manner you did only sows confusion - even if you explain yourself hours or days later. Better to not write using generalities (and imprecise pronouns) at all. No one here knows what you are thinking - only what you are writing. Kyle In Hollywood

'gatester' - It's time for you to settle down. You've been treading a very fine line with some very poor behavior in this thread and in others in these Forums. Members here have tried to explain to you that your assertion that TCM has "colorized" any of the the films they show is wrong. They are not even responsible for the restorations of the films they show. The films studios themselves do this work. You need to watch your use of pronouns. When you wrote "You Are Too Stupid To Notice", that is read as being directed to the person to which you are replying - whether that is what you intended or not. And calling your attention to your poor choice of words is not being impolite. So knock it off with the name calling and take the chip off your shoulder. You've gone out of your way to pick a fight with persons who were trying to be helpful. It seems you have problems with the picture quality of TCM on your television - both in terms of the color and the sharpness of picture. As people here have pointed out, this appears to be an issue only in your home. You should address these problems with your cable system. Continually ranting about it in the TCM Message Boards is foolhardy as TCM is not responsible for such problems. Your disgruntled manner is poor way to introduce yourself around here. It took less than a week for you to alienate yourself with some of the friendliest people that congregate here. And I can't say that I blame them for the reception they have given you. You might want to start over and leave your baggage from experiences on other websites behind. Kyle In Hollywood Edited by: hlywdkjk on Jun 4, 2011 9:37 PM for spelling errors

The 19th TCM Programming Challenge: Easy as 1-2-3
hlywdkjk replied to kingrat's topic in TCM Program Challenges Archive
skimpole - The schedule one creates should replicate a traditional TCM weekly line-up. So it should include all those "franchises" you mentioned. (And don't forget "TCM Underground".) You need not "theme out" your daytime line-ups but most Challengers do themes for all parts of their schedules - days and nights. (Programming Challengers are a very creative lot.) But you should create "themes" for the Evening line-ups, as is typical for TCM. You can create multiple themes for use during a single day's daytime line-up. The entire daytime for a single day need not be devoted to one theme. In the past, I believe "Star Of The Month" has been presented on a Friday Night only once - Grace Kelly. Her "slim" filmography sort of mandated using Friday Nights. Otherwise, "Star Of The Month" honorees are saluted between Monday and Thursday Nights. And I also believe 'kingrat' wrote already that the "1-2-3" features need not be shown during the evening hours and can be included during any part of a day.
