*"... But, just what would it take to raise YOUR red flag(?)"* After having a pleasant and reassuring conversation this past weekend with the new General Manager of TCM (Hi Jeff! Pleasure to meet you!), everybody should toss their red flags into the nearest rubbish bin. Nothing's going to change. All the Upper Management of Turner Networks know what a wonderful and unique channel they have with TCM. In terms of viewer loyalty, it is (nearly?) unprecedented for a television channel. I doubt that they want to be the one to destroy that while TCM is under their custodianship. If you are a fan of TCM for the past ten years, the objective is to continue that "tradition" with the same persons in place that have been responsible for instilling such devotion among its viewers. There is no need for any angst, worry or cynicism - unless one chooses to be. The future of TCM will be much like its past. Kyle In Hollywood

One of the many highlights of the 2011 TCM Classic Film Festival for me was the display on Club TCM of some amazing original film posters. There were about two dozen posters of various sizes on display in the room, all from the collection of graphic artist Mike Kaplan. The most striking were the Original "French Grandes" Posters, hanging in frames with posters on both the front and back sides. Photo courtesy of TCM Film Festival Gallery Photograph by Adam Rose The images measured 47" x 63". That's 4ft by 5ft! Every time I passed through Club TCM I couldn't help but stop and gaze and these remarkable posters. Thanks to Mike Kaplan for lending these wonderful posters to the Classic Film Festival and Bravo to TCM for presenting them during the festival. I hope to see more someday. There's a rumor speading like wild fire around the Classic Film Festival in Hollywood that TCM is going to sponosr a Classic Film Cruise as soon as this winter - and it will be an East Coast departure. Hmmm. Sounds like TCM is more than pleased with the response to the Classic FIlm Festival and is ready to expand with similar events. I bet Nicky Ferrante is already booking passage. How difficult is it to get individual tickets?
hlywdkjk replied to Alistair's topic in Questions and Concerns
*"(D)oes anyone have actual experience with this procedure, and have any insider tips?"* - Alistair I don't have any insider tips nor have I attended many popular screenings (so far). But, as a veteran attendee, I would suggest trying to attend films in the very large Chinese Theater (1100 seats). Of the events you listed, screenings on Saturday of *Citizen Kane* (It was announced that Norman Lloyd will be in attendance to speak about the film) and perhaps *Gaslight* may have the best chances of selling individual seats. If it does interest you, Julie Andrews will appear at the screening of *Breakfast At Tiffany's* in honor of her late husband Blake Edwards and is showing between the two films you listed. *All about Eve* is showing in the largest of the Mann theaters (with 477 seats) but a Bette Davis film will likely be very popular with passholders. Public/General Admission seating is $20.00 for each screening, There are no Public/General Admission tickets sold for events in Club TCM. Club TCM is reserved for passholders only. Information missing from "Now, Voyager"
hlywdkjk replied to FredCDobbs's topic in General Discussions
OK, if Charlotte and Jerry were chaste when in the taxi overnight, then explain to me why Charlotte uses that incident to break-off the engagement with the Boston Blue Blood. All she does is begin to describe the night and the Blue Blood seems to know where the story is going and suggests its best to not continue the engagement. If this wasn't about telling the Blue Blood that she had been "de-flowered", what was it all about? On its own, just being stranded in a taxi because of circumstances out their control certainly wouldn't justify calling of an engagement, would it? There had to be more to it than just sleeping next to a stranger. Kyle In Hollywood Edited by: hlywdkjk on Apr 26, 2011 10:51 PM -

Vince Giordano at The Music Box Friday night
hlywdkjk replied to Jezebel38's topic in Questions and Concerns
Hi CineMaven - Welcome To Hollywood! (I had to get that out of the way first.) It's great to have you here in my 'hood. Can't wait to see you! Non-passholders can attend the Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks concert at the Music Box Friday evening. Admission is $20.00 for the general public and available at the venue the night of the event. (No advance sales.) As to other options for non-passholders, I am not certain. Last year the lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel was open to the public (save for the duration of the Opening Night Party.) But because TCM has taken over the lobby and turned it into a studio for taping this year, I don't know if that area is completely off-limits to the public and passholders only are given access. Of course, if you and your guest are staying in the Roosevelt, your guest will likely be given the ability to travel through that area. And if they happen to stick around the lobby awhile on their way to the Blvd., who's to know? Same goes for tapings happening poolside. Plus, the restrictions on that area wouldn't begin until the start of the Festival - so you and your guest should be able to wander the Roosevelt freely today and tomorrow (Wednesday.) Typically, footprint ceremonies at the Chinese Theater, like the one for Peter O'Toole on Saturday morning, are "public" events. Whether that is the case with this ceremony is unknown. I don't know of a past ceremony that was affiliated with an event like the Classic Film Festival. I suppose TCM could cordon off the entire area and only allow passholders access to the viewing. I wouldn't blame them if they did. But past ceremonies also blocked the Boulevard and put up bleachers, etc for the viewers. I also don't know if those arrangements will also be in place for Peter O'Toole. So, those are two other "possiblities" - but no guarantees. You might want to inquire when the info booth opens on Thursday. Or tackle our pal Genevieve if you see her. (Be sure and see her sometime over the weekend.) I hear she is already whirling around the area. And I just heard that the Roosevelt is quite the hub of activity already. It's full of folks we both know. Go take a peek. See you soon.
