  2. The Music Box Theater I believe The Music Box is going to be set up in a similar configuration to the photo above - with cocktail tables complete with table lamps. It will attempt to recreate the nightclubs found in the films of the '30s & '40s, like *Ball Of Fire* or *The Awful Truth* ("My love is gone with the wind. Woo-Woo-WOO") Attention has been paid to all sorts of details to make the scene as authentic and fun as possible. I do expect there to be a dancing area too so bring those boogie shoes. 3. Didn't it say that details and schedules would be available at the Festival Information Desk? If not about the shuttle, it said that about something going on next week. There will be a lot of information about events and other services made available next week at the Info Desk in the Lobby area. Be sure and stop by - if only to pick up your screening pocket guide. 4. _*Still on the Road To Hollywood - 2011*_ A Collection of Posters and Still Images Belgium (Click Through On Above Images to Access Larger Versions.) The 2011 TCM Classic Film Festival screens *A Night At The Opera* (1935) with an introduction by Andy Marx, grandson of Groucho Marx. Special Added Attraction: *What's Opera Doc?*
  5. Hi Marysara - The Buck Rogers serial starts this Saturday morning (April 23). For some reason it isn't on the monthly schedule. It the Now Playing guide, the titles are listed by the name of each individual chapter in the serial. Hence, this Saturday at 11am (8am PDT) Now Playing lists "Tomorrow's World" (1939) which is Episode One of *Buck Rogers*. Episode Two follows at 11:30am (8:30PDT). It appears that two episodes will be shown every Saturday during the 11am (8am PDT) hour until the series is complete. Kyle In Hollywood

  9. I found some new and interesting items in the Festival website. There is a new "Festival 101" page on the site with some really good information. And a few other surprises have been slipped into the website too. *Festival 101 FAQ* A great guide for some answers to popular questions about the Festival in general and for events that are specific to the 2011 Classic Film Festival. http://www.tcm.com/festival/index.html/#/festival/faqs101 *Perks for Matinee Passholders!* TCM has arranged for Matinee Passholders to take part in two special activities scheduled for the evening hours next weekend. There will be a special Spectator's Gallery set up at the Chinese Theater so Matinee Passholder's can watch the arrivals for the Opening Night Gala on the Red Carpet. Bring your camera and get that picture of Robert Osborne, Alec Baldwin or many of the Festival's Special Guests as they arrive for the screening of *An American In Paris*. Also, Matinee Passholders are invited to attend the performance by Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks at the Music Box Theater Friday night. The event is free to _all_ passholders. *TCM Festival Studio Production Schedule* If you want to watch Robert Osborne or Ben Mankiewicz film some of their Festival pieces, TCM is putting a "studio" in the Lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel. Beginning Wednesday, the affable hosts will be recording pieces to be shown on TCM during Festival Weekend and we're all invited to watch. (Ben Mankiewicz is also filming around the pool of the Roosevelt Hotel.) There is tentative schedule of taping times through Saturday posted in the "Festival 101 FAQ". *Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks* Live at The Music Box Got friends in Southern California and want to include them in a TCM Classic Film Festival event? The appearance of Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks live at the Music Box Theater is open to the public! All passholders (including Matinee passholders) have free admission and General Public admission is available for $20.00 ($10.00 w/ student I.D.) The performance begins at 9:00pm and ends at 11:30pm. There will be a limited number of shuttles (passholders only) running from the Roosevelt to the Music Box Theater (and back, I hope) that evening. *Silent Auction to Benefit The Film Foundation* TCM is holding a silent auction of a Gibson guitar which has been specialy designed and decorated to honor the movie *Shaft*. The guitar will also be signed by Festival Special Guest Richard Roundtree. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to The FIlm Foundation in support of their ongoing mission to preserve motion picture history and TCM will match the winning amount by donating an equal amount to The Film Foundation as well. --------------------- Kyle In Hollywood

  13. Kristin - I am no fashion maven or arbiter of tasteful attire. It means little to me when you write "I'm not seeing people in cocktail attire." I'm not familiar with the term as a certain style. That's my shortcoming and not yours. If it helps, I think the recommendation is to find something between "formal" and "business casual". If you would like a "guide" on what you might wear to the Opening Night Gala, how about thinking "What would Holly Golightly wear if she were attending the Gala in 2011?" If that is "dressier" than you expected and not already in your wardrobe, then I am sure what you do have that is closest to that idea would be fine. If what you have is "dressier" and you think you'll be overdressed, let it go. Make your choice of attire and "own it." Go have fun. You will see all sorts of attire that evening. Whatever you decide, I think you'll be one beautiful rose in the bouquet of women on the Red Carpet. If others can offer some guidance, please chime in. Kyle In Hollywood
  14. *"People are tired of TCM showing naked moves which should be shown on HBO..."* - sheri10 Nudie Movies on TCM? How in the hell have I missed all those? Oh. Maybe you are referring to *Tarzan* and *Ecstasy*. "Move along. Nothing to see here." Kyle (Jesus Of Montreal next Easter would be wonderful) In Hollywood

  20. *"Do they sell haggis burger at the In and Out? That's all I eat."* JonMelville Even on In-N-Out's "secret menu", I've not seen any haggis. http://www.in-n-out.com/secretmenu.asp But I do see you have a high tolerance for gentle teasing about your heritage. You can even throw in yourself. That's good. We'll get along well. Kyle In Hollywood
  21. *Now, Voyager* was on my list of films I would enjoy seeing at the Festival. But the "competition" is too tough. It is showing opposite *To Kill A Mockingbird*, *Girl Crazy*, the Peter O'Toole Interview and Leslie Caron's conversation in Club TCM. If you watch the recording, you will definitely have other interesting options to fill those two hours at the Festival. But it is up to you. Kyle In Hollywood
  22. _*Still on the Road To Hollywood - 2011*_ A Collection of Posters and Still Images (Click Through On Above Image to Access Larger Versions.) 24. *"A tall, Scottish man? Ooohhh....I'll be there, all right."* - SueSue Mr. Melville could be a not-too-distant relative of Sean Connery. (Google Is Your Friend, SueSue) And it seems he has a bit of a name for himself in Scotland. I'm impressed. Very impressed. Kyle In Hollywood
  25. Yes. "Lost" here refers to legal issues that kept it from the public for many years. But it also includes a "restoration" of certain elements that had been removed. http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article/374106%7C373951/The-Mysterious-House-of-Dr-C.html Kyle In Hollywood
