  1. *"Is there a full listing of all the films to be shown? I'm wondering if the Valentino Sheik movies will be shown? Ive never seen them."* - traceyk65

*The Sheik* (1921) is being shown the first night. (After a showing of *The Thief Of Bagdad* (1924), my must-see that month.)

You can scan the titles included if you look at the July schedule -

    http://www.tcm.com/schedule/monthly.html?tz=pst&sdate=2011-07-01

The series is running Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

  2. *"...lest you doubt my "cry-ability" with the pics you have started with so far, ha.. go check out Miss G's Movie Rambles thread and see what your Rockwell pic of the mom and dad started for me today.. ha. I have cried at least THREE times since I saw your post... and I blame you. (but I mean that in a good way)"* - rohanaka

I hope ration stamps don't start you sobbing.

I'll take responsiblity for only so much. You and your post in the Rambles is completely your doing - and so nicely done too. (Makes me want to watch *Empire Of The Sun* again soon.) I'm pleased this thread was the catalyst to your post over there.

I'm partial to the "Freedom Of Religion" image - mostly for the added line of "Each according to the dictates of his own conscience." because that conditional description is too often disregarded in America today. Religion was a personal and private matter. I wish it was that way again.

  3. *"(T)hey still have the coming two months in that format, they just aren't posting the links. Your speculation as to why they are no longer posted may well be correct. But, any one with any sense knows that schedules are subject to change, more so the further out they go. Also, I'm sure that many people here liked having those easy links, and wish they would be restored. It couldn't be that difficult."* - VX

Restoring those links would be welcomed by many and I'm sure it would be an easy "fix." But I think you caught on to the reasoning behind not making them "officially" available yourself.

"Anyone with any sense knows that schedules are subject to change..."

You and I and most everyone who hangs out in the Forums knows how tentative these early schedules can be. But for casual visitors that only went to the homepage and used the links there to access an upcoming schedule, it may not be understood that those pages are actually "works-in-progress". With TCM posting an official link to the upcoming monthly pages, it implies to the visitor that these are finalized schedules worthy of printing. And we know from experience that too often that is NOT the case. I can hear them now. "If it isn't finalized, why are you "telling me" it is ready to print?"

Never underestimate how "confused" some visitors to this site (TCM.com and not necessarily the Forums) can be regarding programming issues. The ones that do migrate here asking questions often need to be enlightened about the most mundane issues. I think we have both answered inquiries posted here that, in our minds, were obvious to us yet we had to be very explicit with our explanations to the new visitor.

For we "savvy" viewers that hang out here in the Forums, it appears we will still have the "easter egg" links to upcoming monthly schedules. So far, TCM hasn't halted our access to these preliminary line-ups. Hopefully that won't change. It is a great "tool" for engaging this community and I think TCM likes reading the reactions from some of their most devoted viewers.

At least, "anyone with any sense" at TCM should understand that.

  4. *"The program scheduling has especially irritated me this last October and December. There were what I consider to be intense dramatic/horror movies being shown in December, and wartime love movies being shown in October. In order to satisfy my Horror Lust for October I had to actually go to my own DVD cabinet."* - KC

Well, TCM can't show _only_ horror films in October, now can it?

Last year's Hammer Horror Festival (Fridays) seemed to be very popular. And the entire Halloween weekend was full of classic horror films. Starting that Friday, TCM showed such titles as

    *The Vampire Bat*

    *I Walked With A Zombie*

    *The Walking Dead*

    *Freaks*

    *Mark Of The Vampire*

and a block of Vincent Price films including

    *House Of Wax*

In 2009 TCM showed a marathon of Boris Karloff features on the 30th of October and celebrated "Mad Scientists" on the night of the 31st.

I think you have a very specific idea of what is a "good" horror film that you would like to watch for Halloween. Peter Cushing's and Chrisopher Lee's "Hammer" films would please most folks. Perhaps it is a good thing you have a library of your own.

  5. *"I would LOVE to see "The Music Man" on TCM."*

    Lucky you!

TCM is spotlighting Shirley Jones in the evening of Wednesday, July 13th. The evening starts off with *The Music Man* at 8pm EDT. (5pm PDT).

Other films that night include *The Courtship Of Eddie's Father*, *A TIcklish Affair* and *Oklahoma!*

And I think TCM has its eye on getting *Anna And The King Of Siam* before showing *The King And I* again.

  6. *"I love the classic radio shows as much, dare I say, maybe even more, than classic movies! Due to the economy, however, I'm not sure I'll be able to afford renewing the contract when it expires."* - itsart2too2

If you are referring to cancelling the satellite radio contract, there is this free web alternative OTR radio station -

    http://radio.macinmind.com/

24 hours a day (though programming is repeated daily) with a variety of genres highlighted.

  7. *"if meatloaf can host, why not she? (meatloaf is the rocker I'm trying to remember who hosted once, right?)"* - KC

Not on TCM. Meatloaf hasn't sat across from Robert Osborne introduing movies. The only "rocker" that comes close might be Mark Motherbaugh (of Devo) who was included in the month-long Guest Programmers event. But Motherbaugh is much more interesting as an artist and musician.

The closest TCM ever got to having a "character" co-host for an evening was having Kermit The Frog also appear during Guest Programmers Month.

PS - Oops. There was the rockstar that was the "host" for the first season of TCM Underground. Forgot about him.

  8. *"I don't think I ever saw this thread before, Kyle...it's fascinating, especially the Lusitania posters. Sad, though. I thought for a couple minutes that patful was back."* - JackFavell

Sorry it somehow slipped by you in years past but happy you found your way here this year. It makes updating the thread every year so you and others can catch up the right choice.

And I miss our friend greatly too - especially during this weekend.

*"A hearty and sincere "WOO HOO" to you, Mr. In Hollywood. This is turning into a favorite annual tradition for me."* - rohanaka

Thanks. I hope you will enjoy the choices I've made for 2011. It might actually be a "kleenex-free" year for you.
