PLEASE BRING OLD MONTHLY SCHEDULES BACK!
hlywdkjk replied to EagleMark's topic in General Discussions
FCD - Unlike Sal, (since you seem to want to use that analogy) the persons responsible for this website are taking the comments here and making changes and improvements in an effort to please their guests. So, what's your beef? But the website isn't going to be the same as it was. "Time Marches On." *"But you also know we pay our monthly bills to the cable/satellite companies and they pay TCM for us. I've been paying for Turner movie channels for 35 years."* Using 2010 prices for consistency, over the past 16 years, you (individually) have paid TCM a whopping $49.92 for it services. (26 cents a month for 12 months for 16 years.) Still feeling like Charles Foster Kane when it comes to your investment in TCM? *"You get your opinions straight about who owns his own restaurant and who doesn't and you get back to me."* There you go... making up lies about me again. I never used the term _owned_ except to describe "Sal.". I dare you to find the quote that says otherwise. I choose my words too carefully. Kyle In Hollywood -
PLEASE BRING OLD MONTHLY SCHEDULES BACK!

*"Hey, man, according to Kyle, this board belongs to us cable and satellite subscribers!"* - FCD Fred, when you hand over your cash directly to TCM, then you can lay claim to the channel belonging to you. Or ask them for a refund. Or unsubscribe. Or you can burn the place down. *"No, that's Kyle's logic. See his post about who "owns" Sal's restaurant..."* DON'T BE POSTING THINGS I NEVER WROTE OR TAKE THEM OUT OF CONTEXT! I am getting really tired of this consistent droning on about your "grievences" toward TCM, its staff, this website and the other members here. You take every opportunity to drag your "issues" in to threads where it has no relevance. It's pathetic. _This discussion thread is about the Monthly Schedule._ Kyle In Hollywood -

*"I started using Word because this message board has always had a problem of timing out when someone takes a little time to type a message in the boards message box."* - FCD I understand that. It is the same reason I composed messages in a Notepad text file before posting. I was only pointing out that using "Notepad" didn't cause the problem you are experiencing when using the Word program. But then again, I don't know what "Smart Quotes" are exactly either. I've never learned Word. Kyle In Hollywood -
And another - The recommended width for posting images/graphics to the Forums was 600 pixels or less. Using that dimension would avoid the scrolling bar appearing. But the width for posted images that don't result in a scroll bar has now "shrunk" to a width smaller than 600 pixels. Don't know what the "recommended new width is exactly - only that some images between 550 pixels and 600 pixels now are displayed with a scroll bar at the bottom. And were some pages on long threads of many pages intentionally "removed" from the Forums? While I can access the page with the Original Post in the Poster Gallery in "Your Favorites" (page 306), pages 305, 304, 303, etc. do not load, are inaccessible or no longer exist. You can check that out here - http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?threadID=116507&tstart=0&messageID=8012093#8012093 and try to get to the subsequent pages yourself. Also try it with "Movie Rambles" in the "Films And Filmmakers" forum - http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?threadID=149374&tstart=0&messageID=8321660#8321660 and try to display pages beyond the very first with the Original Post. *"YAY! Thanks for picking Wagon Master today, Kyle! It's such a great movie!"* - JackFavell And Ben Johnson has nothing to do with your feelings about the film, right? Riiiiight! Thanks for chiming in. I feel like I've let you down lately as you've been so quiet. Kyle In Hollywood -
Here's a Problem to Add to the List - The "User Search" function is "down." Type in and search 'hlywdkjk' and I don't exist! While my "disappearance" may make some here happy, the "loss" also applies to every other user name too. But the Search function for topics/keywords, etc. seems to be working fine. Kyle In Hollywood

*"Ive posted on a lot of different boards, but this is the only one where this happens, and it didnt start happening until three days ago when some international terrorist infiltrated TCM and wrecked their message board and Schedule section."* - FredCDobbs The loss of certain symbols is "new" but pasting from"Word" documents has created problems in the past. Members who participated in the "Programming Challenges" and created their week of a TCM schedule in Word did find problems with the display when pasting it into these Forums. I use the simple and basic "Notepad" program for composition and have no problems. I am always surprised anyone would use the bloated Word program to compose a message to be pasted in here. But god forbid I be accused of trying to take away one's freedoms (of using Word) if they want by telling them to use Notepad. And has anyone else noticed that 'hamradio' suddenly went AWOL the day the upgrade went into effect? I wonder what he is hiding from? There needs to be a Congressional Investigation. Now! I was always suspicious of all that equipment he owns. Kyle (Just Kidding, 'ham') In Hollywood -
"Stella Dallas" (4:15 a.m.) cancelled/rescheduled - Why?

*"Speaking of "dates" ...did you say Ben's an early riser? Ok, forget it, baby, the dream is over!"* - misswonderly Ha ha. Actually, I was only teasing. I have no clue what Ben's morning routine is like. But have you chosen which "Ben" you like best - with or without the goatee? I ask because he may be thinking of growing it back. When he was on the Red Carpet of the Academy Awards, it appeared that he was in the process of growing it back. Glad you have noted the next screenings of *Stella Dallas*. Kyle In Hollywood -
svein - I am no "sweepstakes" expert but all contests of this type that I am familiar come with the caveat of being open only to U.S. Residents (and those of Puerto Rico and U.S. Territories). It is likely a complicated legal issue. I am guessing that a sweepstakes that permits cross border entrants would be a form of international commerce and subject to the laws and rules of not just the United States but Canada. I wouldn't be surprised if it would also entail having a Canadian presence (like an office or mailing address) of some sort. But that is all hypothesizing on my part. It is legal issues that causes TCM to offer an altered schedule to its Canadian viewers. It would prefer to offer the complete U.S. schedule to the viewers in Canada if it could. But many films are already leased to other Canadian outlets and therefore have to be removed from the Canadian listings. It is not the way TCM would like to do it - but it is the way it _has_ to do it. I am sure that applies to the "sweepstakes" too. Maybe we can get TCM to offer a Canadian "Road To Hollywood" screening next year. Kyle In Hollywood

*"All these great Barbara Stanwyck flicks ! But why so early in the morning? For me, the world doesn't exist until 8:00 a.m..."* - misswonderly In case you missed it, 'AndyM' pointed out that *Stella Dallas* will be aired again on March 27th and April 22nd. And both screenings are showing at times _after_ your world begins to exist. Kyle (I hear Ben M. is an early morning person) In Hollywood -

*"Thank you, thank you for posting this info! As soon as I saw it I went to get tickets for 'North by Northwest'."* - Calamity You're very welcome. And I am happy you're attending and that you still could get tickets. Somebody needs to let the Cleveland Plain-Dealer know so they can publish it. I would have thought it would have sold-out by now. 1968B2 - I haven't seen the March "Now Playing: The Show" yet. Hopefully this weekend - online. But I did read this piece Ben Mankiewicz wrote for the March issue of the magazine proper and is posted online. FredCDobbs wrote - "He's an unrepentant racist." *"I'm sure his bosses and managers required him to say that. The film can't be shown on TCM without someone saying that in the introduction. Notice it in the future. Every time it's on TCM, someone says that in the introduction.* *But no one ever says* "Chief Scar is a racist, a murderer, and a child rapist." *PCers don't allow that."* Staff Programmer Scott McGee (also) said - "But as you dig deeper in the film and the more you watch it, the more you realize that Ethan Edwards, the John Wayne character, has more in common with those he hates than those he supposedly represents." Granted, it is kinda oblique, but doesn't that sound like an acknowledgement that the Commanches of the film are also racist murderers? Besides, if your interpretation of the comments was true, would a "PC'er" then name their son after Ethan Edwards? To a "PC'er", the wife's ex-boyfriend's name would be preferable to naming him after a racist John Wayne character. Kyle (Isn't "Nathan" also a John Wayne character name?) In Hollywood

*"So, I've been getting a little inside scoop here and there. There are definitely ISSUES."* - sandykaypax As of yesterday, Ms. Taymor is out. But they have already hired their new director. Sorry you missed out. But you DO get to see Robert and Eva Marie instead. I'd like to think you'd prefer spend an evening with them rather than Bono & The Edge anyway. An $80 million stage musical just boggles my mind. I can't help but think spending that much money is a waste - even before the show opens or without the ISSUES. "Stella Dallas" (4:15 a.m.) cancelled/rescheduled - Why?
hlywdkjk replied to cherie62's topic in General Discussions
cherie62 - 'MovieMadness' is correct that the cancellation notice was (likely) sent in error. Over the past month, viewers that had email notifications set for the films *Night Must Fall* and *The Wages Of Fear* got a cancellation notice that turned out to be false for those films. Both of those films did air as scheduled. For some reason, films in the last slot of the TCM day have a habit of being pushed over into the listings for the following day. Don't know why that is but - it results in the "system" no longer seeing a film like *Stella Dallas* at 4:15am/1:15am as being shown on March 10th. It is now listed as being shown on March 11th. But because the film is no longer listed as airing with the other films for the 10th of March, it is sending out cancellation notices. I am glad you saw that it is still on the schedule and that you have the DVR set to record the 4:15 am film. It should be *Stella Dallas*. Kyle In Hollywood -
TCM, PLEASE BRING BACK THE MONTHLY SCHEDULES!!!!!
hlywdkjk replied to classicsstarlets's topic in General Discussions
I agree - if only for you and your monthly "(New Month's) Schedule Is Up!" post that so many of us look forward to reading. I don't know if it applies, but a lot of pages are inaccessible right now - at least if one uses previous bookmarks or web addresses. My "bookmark" for the TCM Film Festival no longer works. http://www.tcm.com/festival/ I get the "Page Not Found" message. Hopefully some of these pages will return soon. Kyle In Hollywood -
If you are collecting "comments" on issues beyond "posting problems, I have a few. But to start, I can add one improvement to the new format - the site doesn't "hang" or go dead when trying to post a message. I no longer have to compose my posts in "Notepad" and then copy them to the compostion box and hit quickly "Post Message" for the message to go through. I can now write in the composition window for five minutes or longer and the message will post successfully. But I am curious as to what "screen resolution" the site is constructed for? I have a 15" monitor, I use IE 8 and Windows XP. The screen resolution is set at 1064 x 768. (Largest available.) Since the upgrade, I have a slight "left-right" scroll bar at the bottom of the page. I get only a hint of the "wallpaper" others have written about on the right-hand side - and only if I scroll to the right. Would love to get rid of the scroll bar. I also see no "icons" for various functions in the thread/message display boxes. All I have is a text link to reply. Schedule pages issues include - getting the pages to display with the correct time zone. As it is now, only EST seems to display - especially for the monthly schedule. One can no longer adjust the text size on the monthly schedule page. And it will take 40 pages to print the complete monthly schedule page - if using using the Windows print option. (Don't know what the pdf version page count is.) Seems unusually - and excessively - high page count. And is the pdf file (inaccessible as of now) the complete monthly schedule or just the "primetime grid" which is what has only been available in in pdf format? I would be surprised if the full schedule is really in a pdf format for downloading or printing. That would be "new". Kyle In Hollywood

New Format for Daily Schedule and Home Page etc.

*"I just want to know where these people have been. Where have they been hiding?"* - fxreyman Rey, they're the "guests" who come to lurk and linger and read but choose not to engage. The low post count should not be used to determine if a member has some sort of legitimacy to complain or ask for revisions. It is really an unfair inference. From what I've seen many registered here long ago - even before someone like me. They have obviously been around tcm.com for quite awhile. Their feedback on the changes that appeared today is as important and valuable as anyone elses. Plus the changes they've found are not just to these Forums. There has been a drastic overhaul of the online schedule(s). Many visitors to the site use those on a regular basis and have come to expect a certain level of information from those pages. As it stands today, the schedule requires new actions and steps to access the information that was clearly visibe before. It was a surprise to everyone this morning when what one has been accustomed to seeing is no longer in front of you in this new format. I have yet to read a post in this thread that was "out-of-bounds" in its criticism of the changes. What everyone encountered today are not "nits" that they are "picking." This is a much different discussion than hashing over "repeats" or the definition of "TCM's Library." It is time to quit this innuendo that all posters with a small posting history have nefarious or disruptive motives with their presence today. It isnt true and it isn't fair. Kyle In Hollywood -

FULL LIST OF FILMS - movies missing from list
hlywdkjk replied to catcarson's topic in Questions and Concerns
Good Morning - I also noticed those titles missing from the "Full List" page at the Festival site. I am sure it will be corrected in coming days. It might be useful to know that for last year's Festival, there were some titles that were announced early that never made it to the final line-up of screenings. I am not saying that may be the case with any of the titles you mentioned but at this point, I think everyone should look at all programming announcements with the caveat of "All Screenings Subject To Change."
