  1. *"Aw, shucks, Kyle, you are a doll. I lurk a lot around here, just don't post much. I'll be sure to give a full report!"* - Sandy K Glad to know you are only being silent and not absent from here. *"I could not go because I was not able to cancel a rehearsal for a show that I was directing."* Well then, it is all the better that you are attending in two weeks. (TWO WEEKS!) I'll be looking for your report. Kyle (Wanna take over "Spiderman" in NYC, Ms. Director?) In Hollywood
  2. *"edit: Ooh looks like April 2nd is actually a Saturday!"* - kinokima I apologise for the error in my original post. The original press release I used to write it and quoted from listed the NYC date as "Monday, April 2nd". But the page for the screening at the "Road To Hollywood" site does list the date as being "Saturday, April 2nd". I hope this change will make it easier for you to attend in April. (And begin checking for downloadable tickets on the 18th. The press release said tickets would be available on the 18th while the website says that they won't be available until Saturday, the 19th. But better to be safe than sorry.) Kyle In Hollywood
  3. *"Kyle, Lynn sent me a private message and I got my tickets to North by Northwest here in Cleveland. THANK YOU for thinking of me!"* - Sandy K Ya-HOO!! I am so glad you got the message from Lynn. And I am thrilled you got tickets to the screening in Cleveland. When I read about that event, you immediately came to mind. (And I think of you quite often. Well, "miss you" and your presence around here actually.) I was so worried that the tickets would have been snapped up before you found out about the screening. Have a great time, OK? And tell us all about it afterwards. (I hope the film is one you like.) Kyle (I've done my good deed for the week.) In Hollywood
  4. *"I'm curious .. did this info come in an e-mail? Nothing has shown up in my inbox. Did everyone else get it?"* - Wolfie I did get an email too. But you can also read all about it at the links below - http://news.turner.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=5571 http://news.turner.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=5572 And the info at the links is much more elaborate and includes other screenings not mentioned in the email. ( *West Side Story* and *The Devil Is A Woman*, among others. ) Kyle In Hollywood

  6. Thursday, March 3rd *Mutiny On The Bounty* (1935) Germany (Click Through On Above Image to Access Larger Versions. Select "Actions", then "View All Sizes".)
  7. *"Thank you so much for taking the time to post this Kyle."* - Gregory1965 You're welcome. And it sounds like it was a good decision to post the line-up here in General Discussions. I envy you and your partner. While *Rio Bravo* with Angie Dickinson in attendance sounds like soo much fun and Shirley Jones speaking about *Elmer Gantry* with Ben Mankiewicz is an exciting evening at the movies, a screening of *The Manchurian Candidate* with Robert Osborne and Angela Lansbury sounds perfectly sublime. I hope the School Of The Visual Arts has a large auditorium/theater for the screening. And make sure you download the complimentary tickets ASAP on March 18th. Last year's screening of *All About Eve* at the huge Ziegfeld Theater "sold out" rapidly. Kyle In Hollywood
  8. *"This is what the inside of the Paramount Theater looks like here in Austin. It's on the same street as the Capital! It's beautiful outside as well as the inside!"* - BSG Thanks for posting the picture in here, "butterscotch". The interior is truly amazing. And I bet "SueSue" has her eyes on taking over one of the boxes on the sides of the auditorium when she comes to the screening in Austin. Kyle In Hollywood
  9. *"If it's not too expensive maybe I will try to get tickets for the NYC spot...* - kinokima If, by expensive, you mean the cost of the tickets, there is no cost. The tickets are free. But if you are including the expense of travelling to NYC, then I can see how it might add up to a major outlay - especially if you decide to spend the night in the city. I hope you do have the chance to attend. And I am sure TCM is aware that their Philadelphia viewers are feeling neglected once again. Maybe next year... *The Philadelphia Story* would be a great picture to show. Kyle In Hollywood
  10. *"How is everyone missing the irony?"* - PS Oh, I'm not. I find it very amusing. And I don't know whether to take the OP seriously or if it was some very clever troll post. Kyle In Hollywood
  11. *"Anyone living in Chicago will have a blast attending the showing at the Music Box Theater on the far north side of Chicago."* - fxreyman Sounds like a great place. 'butterscotchgreer' PM'd me a shot of the interior of the Paramount Theater in Austin. It is gorgeous. I hope she posts the photo here in the Forums too. Kyle In Hollywood
  12. *"You should have seen me when I saw that Mrs. Miniver was gonna be on the big screen in Austin and when I had my first date at 17."* - BSG *Mrs. Miniver* on the big screen? Wow! I bet you didn't sleep for a _week_ . Kyle In Hollywood
  13. butterscotchgreer - Use the link in the first post of this thread and click on Austin. (Ok, here it is again - http://www.tcm.com/2011/roadtohollywood/index.html ) But the tickets won't be "released" to the public for another month. You will be able to download one beginning April 2nd. Are you gonna be able to sleep tonight? Kyle In Hollywood
  14. *"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I'm in austin Kyle!"* - BSG YEA! That's great. I don't know if there is one here that I could be more pleased to hear that they are going. *"I am so going to buy a ticket!!"* And you want to know what is even better? The tickets are free! You, Ben M. and Angie D. ! ! ! That sounds like so much fun. I'll be looking for your complete rundown of the evening. Kyle In Hollywood
  15. *"Really looking forward to this one now, though I'm struggling a little to put Bing and Joan Fontaine together in my mind."* - DougieB So, what did you think? Was it as interesting as the poster led you to believe? (I got home too late.) Kyle In Hollywood
  16. *"But, much to my delight, I just received tickets to a TCM Classic Film Festival showing of it (through my membership in SIFF), right here in my ol' hometown of Seattle on 3/3, hosted by Robert O and featuring Eva Marie Saint!! Booyah!!"* - David In Seattle And that is coming up this week! Let us know how it went, OK? Kyle In Hollywood
  17. mijoux - The tickets for the NYC screening of *The Manchurian Candidate* on April 2nd won't be made available until March 18th. So you should still have a chance to get a seat. http://www.tcm.com/2011/roadtohollywood/index.html I hope you make it as these screenings are very fun. Kyle In Hollywood
  18. The Longer Road To Hollywood - 2011 (Because these events are taking place across the country, I am placing this in General Discussions rather than in the Film Festival Forums. Many not attending the event in Hollywood might miss this opportunity if I placed it down there.) TCM Announced the 2011 Edition of "The Road To Hollywood", the channel's roadshow of free screenings across the country leading up to the 2011 Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, April 28th - May 1st. And, for all those that felt left out last year, this year the show is stopping in a slew of new cities in many different regions. The "Road" show starts in Seattle on March 3rd with a screening of *North By Northwest* hosted by Robert Osborne and Eva Marie Saint. (Sorry, already "sold out.") The rest of the itinerary and screenings are - _Cleveland_ - Wednesday, March 16 *North By Northwest* - hosted by Robert Osborne and Eva Marie Saint (Tickets Available March 2) _Tampa_ - Monday, March 21 *Smokey and the Bandit* - hosted by Ben Mankiewicz and Burt Reynolds (Tickets Available March 9) _Chicago_ - Thursday, March 24 *Seven Brides For Seven Brothers* - hosted by Robert Osborne and Jane Powell (Tickets Available March 10) _New York City_ - Monday, April 2 *The Manchurian Candidate* - hosted by Robert Osborne and Angela Lansbury (Tickets Available March 18) _St. Louis_ - Monday, April 4 *The Birds* - hosted by Ben Mankiewicz and Tippi Hedren (Tickets Available March 21) _Long Island (Huntington, N.Y.)_ - Wednesday, April 13 *The Birds* - hosted by Robert Osborne and Tippi Hedren (Tickets Available March 30) _Austin, Texas_ - Saturday, April 16 *Rio Bravo* - hosted by Ben Mankiewicz and Angie Dickinson (Tickets Available April 2) _San Francisco_ - Wednesday, April 20 *Elmer Gantry* - hosted by Ben Mankiewicz and Shirley Jones (Tickets Available April 5) _Los Angeles_ - Thursday, April 21 *From Here To Eternity* - hosted by Ben Mankiewicz and Ernest Borgnine (Tickets Available April 7) -------------------------- Tickets can be reserved beginning on the appropriate dates at the link below - http://www.tcm.com/2011/roadtohollywood/index.html Please, if anyone knows how to get in touch member 'sandykaypax', please let that Ohioan know Robert O. is coming to Cleveland. But don't wait as the Cleveland tickets are becoming available tomorrow and they don't last long! "Mrs. Bennet" wouldn't forgive me for letting this slip by her. And do we know anyone in or near Austin, Texas? Kyle In Hollywood Edited by: hlywdkjk on Mar 1, 2011 7:51 PM
  19. Tuesday, March 1st *The Emperor Waltz* (1948) Italy (Click Through On Above Image to Access Larger Versions. Select "Actions", then "View All Sizes".)
  20. *"A cosmetics executive's search for eternal beauty turns her into a monster!"* *"Mars invades the Earth in a search for female companionship!"* *"A giant octopus attacks San Francisco!"* How can anyone read those descriptions and not be excitedly amused? Fifties "Creature Features" direct from the Drive-Ins of our youth (or those of our parents.) What a fun time this is going to be. But the "out-of-the-ordinary" this June doesn't stop there. TCM has chosen some interesting actors to spotlight on June nights. They range from the silly (Ernie Kovacs) to the sublime (Jane Greer). Other interesting evenings are devoted to Johnny Sheffield ("Bomba"), Audie Murphy and Freddie Bartholomew ("Lloyds Of London"). TCM throws a One-Night-Only Jazz Festival including a Clint Eastwood concert at Carnegie Hall, A Thelonius Monk documentary and the Eastwood directed *Bird* about the legendary Charlie Parker. "Cool, man." Wednesday, the 15th _must_ be "Guest Programmer" night. With the line-up consisting of - *Night Of The Hunter* *God's Little Acre* *A Face In The Crowd* and *Touch Of Evil* what else could it be but the picks of a serious cinephile? (or are they just a poseur?) Not forgetting what month it is, the schedule includes a night for June Brides. But there is no room for sentiment as the evening is immediately followed on the next night with a line-up of divorces and other marriages gone bad. I guess all the sentimentality was reserved for Father's Day with its appropriate and traditional selection of paterfamilias films. MacKyle (Scotland Night too!) In Hollywood
  21. *"Very cool flick, Kyle, thanks!"* - markbeckuaf You're welcome, my man. Happy to know that you are finding one or two things to watch during the "31 Days..." event. (But I know how much you are looking forward to the March Schedule. (Did you get a good look at April and May too?) Kyle In Hollywood
  22. Monday, February 28th (Rare 2-Sheet Poster) (Click Through On Above Image to Access Larger Versions. Select "Actions", then "View All Sizes".)
  23. *"We're trying to get it for the airing in March."* - tcmprogrammr Thanks for the reply. Here's hoping the other version arrives for March. Kyle In Hollywood
  24. *"...unless they are both living on two different planets working for two different entity's called TCM, someone is FOS."* If you define "library" as films that TCM owns, it is miniscule. If you define "library" as films that TCM has access to in any given month, it is quite large. That large "library" would include titles from the original "Turner Library" and films from other sources - such as the Hitchcock titles controlled by Universal. When TCM has licensed those films, they would be considered as part of TCM's "library". But there is no longer a "permanent" TCM library. What's so difficult about that? Kyle In Hollywood
