Thanks for the info tracy65k,I order alot on films from them. There is a good section called "the buzz" that you can write them and ask when certain movies will be available for future releases. Hopefully some of the movie distributers will listen. vallo

Although The night of the hunter was well received it did not lead to any more directing jobs for Laughton,so he continued to act(from IMDb.com)

I beg to differ Mongo, but the movie is:1972's "The war between men and women"
with Jack Lemmon, Barbara Harris and Jason Robards.

Here are a few DVD releases as per Film buff on line:
10/18/05-LIFEBOAT (1944)-Ms.Bankhead
10/25/05 Detective Story (1951)-Kirk Douglas
12/06/05 -Kiss of Death(1947)-Victor Mature
Now if they would release 1950"Caged" with Eleanor Parker, that would make my day... vallo

Bud Abbott was, if not the best straight - man in the business. It's a shame that Costello and himself owned money to the IRS,and he died living off social security, especially when they did all those USO tours for free during WWII for the USA. What a shame. vallo

I was watching the other night "Destry rides again"1939 and when Marlene Dietrich was singing "See vhat the boys in the back room will have" all I thought about was Madeline Kahn in "Blazing Saddles" I couldn't keep a straight face.
She was one of the best and she is still missed.

I'm not sure if it was a rubber plantation but 1941 "Law of the tropics" with Constance Bennett and 1992 "Indochine" with Catherine Deneuve. Just a few that I can think of. vallo

Also try moviesunlimited.com or amazon.com but sometimes the movie may NOT be available on DVD or VHS.
Keep checking this site, sometimes there are movie alerts.
The hardest thing about loving classics is finding them available for your personal collection.

I purchased the "Thin man" box set and it is worth every penny. The 7th.disc is a William Powell and Myrna Loy bio.
As for another Loy/Powell movie get "Libeled Lady" 1936 Powell steals the movie with his "Fishing' trip" with Walter Connelly. Also stars Jean Harlow ,Spencer Tracy..Very Funny..
Directed by Jack Conway

Xxmass,I agree being a classic lover myself, that some people don't understand.I live for the past (movies that is) but you're correct about todays(so-called) stars and the films that are being made.(dreck)Give me a old movies any time. And if people say I live in the past,so be it .I'm the one that is being really entertained. They'll just complain about sending $10.00 for a remake when I can watch the original on TMC.
