  2. I watched all three films. Loved them all especially "The Southerner" (thank you mongo) The thing that makes these films good (compared to Today's films) are the character Actors. "Our Very Own"- Joan Evans,Ann Dvorak ,Donald Cook & Natalie Wood. "The Southerner" with J. Carrol Naish ,Beulah Bondi ,Percy Kilbride ,Charles Kemper ,Blanche Yurka & Norman Lloyd (how can you go wrong). "I Want You" with Peggy Dow, Robert Keith ,Mildred Dunnock Ray Collins ,Martin Milner and even Jim Backus. That's not even counting the fine leads in these films.. Thanks for the heads up, I took off from work yesterday,just to catch these fine films.. vallo

  14. Handsome guy, liked him as Philo Vance in a couple of films.And a few Abbott & Costello Movies. If he was born in 1909 wouldn't he of died at 44 yrs.? What type of surgery was he getting? vallo
  15. 1962's "Convicts 4" with Ben Gazzara, Vincent Price,Ray Walton,Stuart Whitmore,Timothy Carey and Rod Steiger. Directed by Millard Kaufman. Haven't seen this film in 30 years. True story of John Resko who is rehabilitated in prison by his artistic talents. vallo
  16. Welcome Mornia, While the films in the 20's & 30's, like Anthony Adverse didn't have strict Animal Rights Laws like they have today. I don't think they would kill any horses for the sake of the film.I think it was special effects.. Fred Jackman did the special photographic effects for the film. vallo

Feb. 19 12:00 AM TCM "The Band Wagon" American actor Robert "Smoki" Whitfield entered films in 1948, at a time when opportunities for black performers were still extremely limited. When he wasn't playing Pullman porters or family servants, Whitfield could usually be found in heavy "African" makeup as a tribal chieftain or medicine man. He was a regular in Monogram's Bomba the Jungle Boy series, playing a friendly native named Eli (in the first Bomba, however, he was called Hadji).   23. Another (great) Dame without a star... Loved her in just about anything, Miles Archer's wife in 'The Maltese Falcon, Detective Story, and of course Panama Smith in The Roaring Twenties etc.. Shame she died so young.... vallo
