"Baby Face" with Barbara Stanwick 1930's
vallo13 replied to molly7677's topic in Information, Please!
Urged on by a not-so-kindly old cobbler (Alphonse Ethier), who recommends that Lily read Nietzsche - and ?Be strong! Defiant! Use men to get the things you want!? Not sure of the name of the book. Try here:http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/nietzsche/#2 vallo -
I checked a few sites and I don't think the film is available for VHS or DVD. you could try here:http://www.robertsvideos.com/index.php3 But I think (if they carry it. It will be a copy not a original) vallo

what defines a classic film ? age, year, color ?
vallo13 replied to wheel123's topic in General Discussions
"Classic": generally considered to be of the highest quality or lasting value, especially in the arts, authoritative and perfect as a standard of its kind.Something created or made, especially a work of art, music, or literature, that is generally considered to be of the highest quality and of enduring value Well each person would have their own description of what is classic,so it's kind of hard to say. I guess it would cover any film, any year. The thing is, TCM is known as The "Classic Movie" channel (Un-Cut and Commercial Free) so when a newer film's are shown there will always be flack. Because we can find the newer films on just about any of the other Cable channel. vallo -

I'm not sure if it was Satellite or Cable but I did notice some sound/skipping problems with "Waterloo Bridge" the film prior to "Baby Face". I have Satellite......... vallo -

It does sound like an 80's Teen Film like, Some Kind of Wonderful, Mischief, Losing It or something John Hughes would write in the 80's. Any more clues may help.... vallo

vallo13 replied to StPeter's topic in Information, Please!
St.Peter, This is what I found: Format: AC-3, Closed-captioned, Color, Dolby, Dubbed, Original recording remastered, Special Edition, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC Language: English Number of discs: 2 Rating: G Studio: Warner Home Video DVD Release Date: November 7, 2006 Run Time: 185 minutes @IMDb.com said the film ran 178minutes so I would think the additions were added. I too remember Million Dollar Movie Hope this Helps... vallo -
I watched it for the first time Saturday Night. I liked it. But I was reminded of "It's A Wonderful Life" with the comparison of The Bank Run and the Owner digging into his own pockets and the final outcome in the bank .(small SIMILARITIES). Capra uses his setting's well making "the bank" is just as important as the films characters. Really liked "Kay Johnson" as Huston's wife. vallo
