I think alot had to do with Jean Peters giving birth to Massai's child where he drops his weapons and just walks away. Trivia:There really was a renegade Apache warrior called Massai, who was a bloodthirsty killer renowned for stealing, **** and murdering. And he did indeed escape from a prison train bound for Florida and make his way back to his homeland. It is however doubtful whether he was 6 foot and had blue eyes like Burt Lancaster. vallo

(YAHOO.COM) LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Film director Robert Altman has died in a Los Angeles hospital, a spokesman for his production company said on Tuesday The spokesman told Reuters that Altman, 81, died on Monday evening. He gave no cause of death. Altman, whose films include "The Player," "M*A*S*H," and "Nashville," revealed earlier this year that he had been the recipient of a heart transplant approximately 10 years ago. He received an honorary Oscar at the 2006 Academy Awards. A true visionary he will be missed. RIP Mr. Altman. vallo

You're right Jack. About Jack being Jack. The Webber version was based closer to the book. But Kubrick's ending was much better than the TV version and the book.... vallo
