While I did get a DVD player, I made sure to buy the combo DVD/VCR do to all the Tapes I own. I may buy a DVR (recorder) only to tape (pardon the pun) films from TCM. As long as I have a color TV, it doesn't have to be Plasma or an LCD. Just work...... vallo PS: The Red Rope maybe an option................

> that Sal Mineo (didn't he die young and, if so, of what)??? From IMDB.comExpanding his repertoire, Mineo returned to the theatre to direct and star in the play "Fortune and Men's Eyes" with successful runs in both New York and Los Angeles. In the late 1960s and 1970s he continued to work steadily in supporting roles on TV and in film, including Dr. Milo in Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) and Harry O: Such Dust As Dreams Are Made On (1973). In 1975 he returned to the stage in the San Francisco hit production of "P.S. Your Cat Is Dead". Preparing to open the play in Los Angeles in 1976 with Keir Dullea, he returned home from rehearsal the evening of February 12th when he was attacked and stabbed to death by a stranger. A drifter named Lionel Ray Williams was arrested for the crime and, after trial in 1979, convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder. Although taken away far too soon, the memory of Sal Mineo continues to live on through the large body of TV and film work that he left behind. Robert Osborne did mention this after the film. vallo

He did seem to lose weight. His face is thinner and he's not as barrel chested as he was before. Still the man rocks..... vallo -

It could be "A Dog of Flanders" there is a 1960 version w/ Donald Crisp and David Ladd. But the movie was orginally made in1935 which wasn't as good as the 1960 one. Try Here:http://imdb.com/title/tt0052745/#comment vallo

"Attack" That's one of my favorite films "aftermath", Jack Palance as Costa: Listen to me, Cooney! If you put me and my men in a wringer - -if you send us out there and let us hang - -I swear, I swear by all that's holy, I'll come back. I'll come back and take this grenade and shove it down your throat and pull the pin. The man was one of a kind...... vallo

(From Yahoo.com)LOS ANGELES - Jack Palance, the craggy-faced menace in "Shane," "Sudden Fear" and other films who turned to comedy at 70 with his Oscar-winning self-parody in "City Slickers," died Friday. Palance died of natural causes at his home in Montecito, Calif., surrounded by family, said spokesman Dick Guttman. Palance was 85 according to Associated Press records, but his family gave his age as 87. When Palance accepted his Oscar for best supporting actor he delighted viewers of the 1992 Academy Awards by dropping to the stage and performing one-armed push-ups to demonstrate his physical prowess. "That's nothing, really," he said slyly. "As far as two-handed push-ups, you can do that all night, and it doesn't make a difference whether she's there or not." That year's Oscar host, Billy Crystal, turned the moment into a running joke, making increasingly outlandish remarks about Palance's accomplishments throughout the night's awards presentations. It was a magic moment that epitomized the actor's 40 years in films. Always the iconoclast, Palance had scorned most of his film roles. "Most of the stuff I do is garbage," he once told a reporter, adding that most of the directors he worked with were incompetent. Movie audiences, however, were electrified by the actor's chiseled face and hulking presence, and a calm, low voice that made him all the more chilling. As a kid he scared me as an adult I loved him. As I once heard, no one played Attila the Hun like Jack Palance. Rest in Peace Jack. vallo Message was edited by: vallo13
