"Attack" That's one of my favorite films "aftermath",
Jack Palance as Costa: Listen to me, Cooney! If you put me and my men in a wringer - -if you send us out there and let us hang - -I swear, I swear by all that's holy, I'll come back. I'll come back and take this grenade and shove it down your throat and pull the pin.
The man was one of a kind......

(From Yahoo.com)LOS ANGELES - Jack Palance, the craggy-faced menace in "Shane," "Sudden Fear" and other films who turned to comedy at 70 with his Oscar-winning self-parody in "City Slickers," died Friday.
Palance died of natural causes at his home in Montecito, Calif., surrounded by family, said spokesman Dick Guttman. Palance was 85 according to Associated Press records, but his family gave his age as 87.
When Palance accepted his Oscar for best supporting actor he delighted viewers of the 1992 Academy Awards by dropping to the stage and performing one-armed push-ups to demonstrate his physical prowess.
"That's nothing, really," he said slyly. "As far as two-handed push-ups, you can do that all night, and it doesn't make a difference whether she's there or not."
That year's Oscar host, Billy Crystal, turned the moment into a running joke, making increasingly outlandish remarks about Palance's accomplishments throughout the night's awards presentations.
It was a magic moment that epitomized the actor's 40 years in films. Always the iconoclast, Palance had scorned most of his film roles.
"Most of the stuff I do is garbage," he once told a reporter, adding that most of the directors he worked with were incompetent.
Movie audiences, however, were electrified by the actor's chiseled face and hulking presence, and a calm, low voice that made him all the more chilling.
As a kid he scared me as an adult I loved him. As I once heard, no one played Attila the Hun like Jack Palance. Rest in Peace Jack.

There is enough hate in this world. So why are we having a problem sticking to the rules that the post set forth.

What a shame with her great thread of Brooklyn and Characters pictures. I hope she comes back ,she will be truly missed. Sooner or later, if we keep going this way the Message Boards will be a thing of the past for most of (Good/ Nice/Caring) people here. And it would be a waste land....for the Trolls....

If you haven't seen "Executive Action (1973)" with Burt Lancaster, Will Greer and Robert Ryan. Plot Outline: A wealthy group of power-brokers employ mercenaries to assassinate JFK. Good Film/watch it. It is food for thought.

Your right Mrsl, But at times it is most frustrating. I Do pass up certain threads I feel may just be a waste. But I guess I shouldn't. I wish you could crochet gags for some of the posters. The name calling is the most irritating. we all have a right to take part in this site. But lately it is a turn off. If people want to "rank" each other out. Do it through the Private Messages area DON'T post it here so everyone can see. There are a handful of posters I would Truly miss if we all decided to leave do to the resent events here.

When I first came on the boards (around the same time as lzcutter) I was amazed at the knowledge and input of this site. I finally found what I was looking for in a Classic Site. There were so many great folk here that I could not make up my mind which thread to join first. Over the course we lost far too many Posters, many of whom never returned. At the time I joined I felt welcome and my two cents were worth something. The thing is (your correct lynn) that some do think this is a soap box. Lately, I pass up threads knowing I may get critiqued for my opinion. Sometimes I wish we could wipe-out the boards and start all over again. I know I shouldn't have those feelings But lately things are really getting out of hand. we can't all like the same films, directors and actors. we all have a difference of opinion. If you don't like something maybe we should keep it to ourselves or state that this isn't what I like. the name call and fighting MUST stop or we'll ALL be looking at blanks pages real soon.

She was born in 1916 and died 1946. Not much on her she only made 6 films starting with "Bringing Up Baby" in 1938.
Trivia
Sister-in-law of Howard Hawks and Kenneth Hawks, cousin-in-law of Carole Lombard.
