I watched 1951's "Ace in a Hole" (couldn't wait so,I brought a DVD copy from Classicflix for $12.00) Great film and in good condition.
This film REALLY needs to be released. Kirk Douglas' ,Jan Sterling and Billy Wilder's finest hour.
I remember seeing this film years ago, still very powerful.
IMDb Trivia: When the film was released, it got bad reviews and lost money. The studio, without Billy Wilder's permission, changed the title to "The Big Carnival" to increase the box office take of the film. It didn't work. On top of that, Billy Wilder's next picture Stalag 17 (1953) was a hit and Billy Wilder expected a share of the Stalag 17 (1953)'s profits. Paramount accountants told him that since this picture lost money, the money it lost would be subtracted from the profits of Stalag 17 (1953).

>"I strongly recommend a DVD recorder with a hard drive"
Jon, I'll eventually have to go that route, But it can be costly. TiVo is no good... (because my rent includes utilities-like satellite and TCM)
I do purchase a lot of DVD's when available.
And Thank you for you offer (P/M) I'll let you know.

Well I said I'd participate, But work and life seemed to sneak up and kill me with a lot of projects. But enough of my excuses. I read all the entries and LOVE Them all. I hope a percentage of these films make TCM. But I'm bias to "allieharding's Schedule". I think it's the Joan Blondell, Ann Harding films that pushed me over.
Great,Great job from all of you involved.

It's not just AMC I was watching "Lost" on ABC and there was a commercial every 8 minutes. More commercials than show.

Sorry, I must have missed your post heidigunn, I usually read most of them but I don't post as much as I used too.
I've check TCM's schedule every day and lately I've been disappointed with the re-hash of their 8pm films. If you're going to put the same films on @ 8, Show classics from the "Golden Era" not films that I've seen of other channels (yes I know they're commercial free) But, I think if they rent their films, they try to get the most out of them while in their possession.

Why oh Why are they putting on "Paper Moon" again @ 8(est) How many times has this been on at that time spot. How about putting on the Bobby Driscoll's" The Window" at 8 instead of at Midnight. My biggest **** is that they don't mix up their films a bit. I work and I've missed Kay Francis again today and get home at 5pm. And can't turn on TCM to enjoy a films because most films l've seen and ones I want to see are on during the morning hours or later at night.
Back to watching my DVD's.....

It almost sounds like Hitchcock's 1936's ":Sabotage" with Sylvia Sidney and Oskar Homolka. But it's a small Cinema not a factory.

Yes I did when my Mom was alive. Now I talk film with my 14yr. old son (but he'd rather talk about "Rock-Bands") I turned my landlord on to classics and we talk film @ times.(But, he'd rather talk sports) So I quess that is why I joined these boards. Ya can't find a good classic fan when you need one. At least I can here.

Welcome aboard and relax and enjoy (sorry to here about your back) Yes, Mr. Osborne is the tops in his field. TCM is the only channel I turn to first. Commerical free and uncut. I was watching "Lost", last night and there were commericals every 8 minutes (More ads than show) We here are all classic fans. So feel free to read and post your opinion any time.

>"one thing though...I hate the slimline cases of the Bogart Collections"
I know what you mean. I just purchased Collection #2 and was disappointed also (not with the films) Warners always does a great job but, Slim line cases is a little tacky.
