  1. Thanks for the info. I think that's the first time I've seen that. Just another reason to support film preservation.
  2. I was watching "A Star Is Born" for the first time (the one with Judy Garland) on TCM today and wondered why during the movie the audio track of the movie would continue but the video portion would periodically switch between still shots and action shots. It gives the appearance that portions of the film were damaged and they used the substitution of still shots to keep the movie going. Or was this just a method used by the director to enhance the movie? If so, it was a turnoff for me. Please respond -- I'm curious.
  3. The housewife Phyllis Dietrichson was played by Barbara Stanwyck, who received an Oscar nomination for her role.
  4. Does anyone know if The Purple Gang (1959?) (I believe it starred a young Robert Blake) is available on video? Does TCM ever plan to show it?
  5. On Monday, January13, just before the airing of "It's a Date" with Deanna Durbin, TCM showed a short about a guy who receives gas while in a dentist chair and dreams about various stars in 1930's Hollywood. What was the name of that short? It had stars like Joe E. Brown, Mae West and Zazu Pitts.
