  1. Well, I have a new problem. The whole look of the page has changed. The fonts have changed. The separation between the topic headings have changed. I've lost my icons next to my name. I have lost the separation line between postings, the alternate shadings between them. Shaded sections of copied texts are gone. Even the box I am typing this in is half as wide as it was. I am using Firefox. Have not only restarted my computer but restored it to yesterday's date. This board appears to be the only thing affected. It was fine early on this morning but changed. I can still use it but seems more cluttered and difficult to read.I don't know yet whether it is on my home computer but will check later. (The index and sign on pages look normal. Only when I get here does it change.) Any thoughts? PS. IE looks more normal on this computer but have never really had any success actually posting anything with IE. (Up to and including yesterday.) 2. >A real 50's wife with a place for everything and everything in its place. That is what my mother always says. I tease her that that is going on her tombstone. Running a close second is "This isn't getting anything done."
  3. Thanks to everyone for your warm congratulations. I have a high level to keep up on the next one. Everyone can help keep me straight. Frankly, I thought "Audrey" was going to win as well. More reasons to be surprised.
  4. I think back in the 30s and later some major cities had 8 or ten newspapers. It seems to have been a far more interesting world than the later world of TV news.
  5. Lynn: I went through all that and didn't thank you. Thank you. You did a wonderful job. Me
  6. I am inclined to demand a recount. I am flattered beyond words. I marvel at the imagination of others and how they put together schedules and am always surprised when someone chooses mine. Congratulations to the other "programmers." Everyone did a marvelous job. I hope everyone had fun too. The ultimate wish is that somewhere along the line something someone did will one day make it on the screen. I hope that all of you, plus some more newcomers, will find the time to join in the next one. It is a fun thing to do. Maybe along the way some of you might give an idea when it would suit most of you to do the next one. Thanks again. I have to call my bride.
  7. Thank you so much for your vote. I am flattered. The thing I tried to do about Canutt was cover as many things as he did in his career. He was an actor, director, stunt coordinator and, if I recall, he wrote and produced films in his early days. Indeed, I meant that he directed the chariot race. He would seem to have been to old for some of the more physical demands.
  8. Miss CM: That is a fine picture of Doris. I like her when she is sock-less. Sir Francis: "Scotchie" didn't tell me. I'm crushed.
  9. I even bore myself. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to be with me all day.
  10. I had a man from Comcast come out and said the box wasn't retaining the IP address and would lose some of the frequencies. This only happened on my HD channels. The regular digital channels are fine. If it is anything like mine you might have to unplug your box and plug it in again. This might give you a short term fix. I find I lose mine when I come change to the channel. If I am already on it I don't usually lose it. If other channels start to be effected like TCM then you may need a new box. I think that is my next step.
  11. You know her! You are a rare find. The only people I know that know her are those I have introduced her music to. I met her once at a signing. She is a lovely lady. She was gracious and very nice to me. I have seen her in concert five or six times, at least, through the years. Just a wonderful, pure voice. Thanks for sharing that piece.
  12. I never really knew much about Gene Pitney. I only have one record and he sings backup/duet with Jane Olivor.
  13. Marysara: Are you having this problem on any other HD channels? I also have a problem like you describe but when it happens it is not the only channel. filmlover: On most things it looks really good. Last week I watched "True Grit" and it looked terrific. The B&W films are some better but I would think marginally but the widescreen color pictures look really good.
  14. We do celebrate that day more than Valentine's Day but also celebrate our regular wedding day. She wants a nice quiet night at home. We'll have dinner and watch something. She will have worked early on Saturday and we are helping a friend move as well. We went to the symphony last Saturday. The Baltimore Symphony did Moussorgsky's "Pictures At An Exhibition." It is one of my favorite works and she loved it too. My Mo-Bear (Maureen) often thinks we are silly (but in a nice way) that after all this time we still act we are dating. Thanks for your kind words.
  15. Hi MissT: I have seen "Decoration Day" before and really liked it. I even had it on my Netflix queue but for some reason it is not available anymore. Yes, I think my bride would like it. (Your Grandmama has excellent taste in movies and granddaughters.) Saturday will be 29 years from the day we met. I am constantly amazed she still loves me.
  16. Never mind. Edited by: movieman1957 on Feb 16, 2010 12:41 PM
  17. I saw it was on yesterday. Often they will show something two or more times over a week. I am trying to catch "Decoration Day" tonight.
  18. >Mr G (funny isn't it? Mr G and MissG? I never noticed before) Oh Lord, he is going to need smelling salts.
  19. Re: "Johnny Trouble." I'm embarrassed I can't quite remember it but I think Groucho said - "Money goes out the door when love comes innuendo." (A good pun should never go to waste.)
  20. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but the whole month was designed that way. In this month's "Now Playing Guide" not only do they do the usual listings they also show the name of the actor that connects one movie to the next. You'll find them through the whole "31 Days." Good catch though.
  21. Thanks so much for the covers. This is another fine job. I appreciate your effort.
  22. Wendy: I hope you have a wonderful birthday. You do so much to make this a fun place to be I hope we can do the same for you . Happy Birthday. Chris
  23. For V-day I thought I'd put the most romantic song I could think of. Johnny Mathis - "Arianne." http://www.youtube.com/watch#playnext=1&playnext_from=TL&videos=-FF5rfdz768&v=EiOEOETObTs
  24. TCM does a little featurette on "Love Affair" vs. "An Affair To Remember." It shows how some setups and shots are almost identical. Everyone some of the dialog is lifted. I can well handle Kerr or Dunne. I am not particularly a fan of Boyer. I like Grant. There is something about the older film that I enjoy more.
