  1. The game is on Sunday Feb. 1. It should start around 6:30pm ET.
  2. Hi Donna: So glad to see you here. I'm very happy you're joining in again. Good luck. Chris
  3. I had put it out there but I can't remember who mentioned that sparked my interest. We just pass it along.
  4. No, I have not heard of that film. I really like McCrea. He and Stanwyck were making pictures together then. I have a book that shows it from 1936. It gets **1/2 stars. it's about folks living on the Mississippi. God knows if we'll ever see it.
  5. I didn't know Kermit was a left handed banjo player. I remember a Peanuts strip where Charlie Brown said that "every new born baby shoud be issued a dog and a banjo." This is the key to a happy childhood.
  6. April: Celine's song is from "Titanic." I only know "Jesus Take The Wheel" as someone at church was thinking of doing it once but we never got around to it.
  7. If you didn't know you can go to the TCM data base and type in a title and it will tell you if it is scheduled. (In this case through March.) Nice to meet you Anita. Chris
  8. The tension is building. Of course it might be a headache. I have visions of Patful hard at work at his desk with a movie book, a pen and a cup of coffee. He asks himself "Should I stay up or go to bed? This is so much fun."
  9. I had heard McDonald was part of Steely Dan but I couldn't tell you anything about his time there. Steely Dan was not a group I spent much time with. I've only been a casual listener to The Doobie Brothers but your first pick, "Black Water" was one I just couldn't listen to. I'm not familiar with much except their hits. One more thing about McDonald is he is featured on a song ("Don't Give Up") on the Contemporary Christian album "Streams." If you don't have it you might check it out as it has some great songs by a variety of artists on it and some wonderful instrumentals to finish it off.
  10. April: Here is a favorite Fogelberg tune - http://video.aol.com/video-detail/dan-fogelberg-lonely-in-love/60255907
  11. Some of the hair in that video will make the ladies jealous. Next question since you brought up "The Doobie Brothers", Michael McDonald. Love him or hate him? I enjoy his solo work but my wife can't stand to listen to his voice. My favorite - http://video.aol.com/video-detail/michael-mcdonald-take-it-to-heart/3380379619
  12. Can you imagine her electric bill for hair dryer?

  14. >By the way, I have enoyed the Dan Fogelberg and Alan Parsons Project discussion. I just love it when Chris talks music. He's on it. Thank you. I can't tell you how much that means. Thanks for posting "The Rainbow Connection." My wife and daughter love that song so when I get time to play the piano at home that is one of those that make an appearance. "The lovers, the dreamers and me."
  15. It's the lovely Theresa. I am one of those fan people. Like you it drowns out other things. I, however, turn mine around so I get the noise but not the air. I would love to have music but my bride tells me it is too distracting. However, she will put on a DVD too until she falls asleep. I find that more distracting because of the screen flashing. Though if I can't sleep I'll get up and go watch something. Chris
  16. I've been waiting on you. Young minds always have tons of ideas. Good luck and thanks for joining in. Chris
  17. >thank you movieman you're very gentlemanly Thank you. That's a very kind thing to say. I'm gonna like you.
  18. Since you mentioned "The Alamo" we can throw in "The Man From The Alamo" with Glenn Ford. I t has been showing on The Westerns Channel lately.
  19. You can start with "Red River." 1949. John Wayne. Welcome to the boards. Have fun. If you want to talk Westerns you've come to the right place.
  20. >SHE slept on the floor??? OK, I won't go there... "I'm not going to sleep" she says as she puts down a sofa pillow and a blanket. "You're going to miss the show" I advise knowing she will be gone in minutes. And so it goes. After years of being unable to wake her no matter how hard I try I just leave her there. At some point you just don't even try anymore. She'll come to bed when she can. Put on some soft music. Make a CD that will help relax you. I recommend John Barry.
  21. My wife never met a time of day that couldn't be improved by a nap. She can sleep anywhere. She has on more than one occasion slept for the night on the living room floor. I can't nap. Sleeping is more a hobby for me. Any I can get will have to do.
  22. Hi Kathy: Shoot, now you got me thinking it might have been Spandau Ballet. Please forgive me. Today I am an idiot. I should go back to bed.
  23. I saw an interview Huston did with Dick Cavett and if he had any hard feelings about it he seemed to have left them behind. He mentioned that it wasn't what he wanted but he was matter-of-fact about the reality of the situation.
  24. The thing I found unique about Parsons was while he wrote or cowrote so many of the songs and played keyboards he didn't sing on anything, at least nothing I own. He had a core band but at times drew in people to do a number on an album. The two most famous are Christopher Cross who did a cut on an album called "On Air" and the lead singer from Styx, whose name escapes me, did a tune for "Time Machine." Parsons was an innovative produer. Also, if I remember corriectly he did some work for Pink Floyd by producing "Dark SIde of The Moon."
