I'm thinking I'll vote for a John Ford movie in the final round.
Don't stretch yourself.

I'm thinking.....

>Are you happy with the way the "Best Western Ever" poll is advancing at SSO? What's your choice for the Best of them all?
It's OK I guess. I don't have any real problems with the finalists (or what lost.) Of the four remaining I'd pick "The Searchers." I think I watch it the most. How about you?
Is it me or has interest seemed to have dropped in the voting?

I answered somewhere before but....
I have enjoyed good success with them. They have a fine collection of old movies (and documentaries.) My lucky thing is I have a distribution center about 40 minutes from me so I often get things the next day. I haven't had anything delayed. I think I did have one ship out of order when they had to send it from out of state but those instances have been rare.
Once they didn't get a film I returned. No problem, no charge. They do make you wait seven days before they act on it but that is not unreasonable.
I get my money's worth.

"Cheyenne Autumn" is a tough movie to watch because as it is a sad subject. It's about 2 hours and 30 miuntes long. It does some odd scenes with Jimmy Stewart as Wyatt Earp. (It includes a seemingly unnecessary comdey scene in the middle that disrupts the film but who am I to question Ford.)
Fine work by Baker and Widmark. Good work by all those playing Indians as it is their story. It deals with conflict within the tribe whether it is a power struggle or they lack of agreement on what they shoud do or where they should go. And a good deal of their time is waiting, waiting for the Americans to get there or figure out what to do.
Best watched if you are in a serious mood.

My own thought about taking her home is that in that moment he realizes that she is his family. That means there is Martha in there somewhere but I'm not sure as he picks her up his thinks "This is Martha's little girl" as much as maybe "She's my niece." I understand that is exactly the same thing but it is just a different perspective.
Maybe that is what helps make it a great film in that after all that time harboring thoughts of killing her (long before he shows it to Marty) that in one heartbeat (and one good look at her) all the hate goes away.

"Sitting" was the only Cat Stevens song I really enjoyed. One of McLean's nicer songs was "Castles In The Air." It was the flip side of "Vincent." A later more relaxed recorded tempo made it even nicer.
To those of a certain age:
Any favorite "B" sides?

is one who wants to have choclate chip cookies obliged to bring enough for everybody?
With all those cookies why would you want to go out? (Wipes crumbs off of my sweater.)

Patful:
Geez! So much for my chance. Great job. You should be tired with all the work you put into this schedule.
I'm not sure I' hang around all night for "Remake Hell" but it's a great idea. I've always enjoyed learning about WWII so I'd be around that day.
Many great ideas and a fun read. It's great to have you in this contest (I think.)

One I would like to see again is "Room For One More" (aka "The Easy Way.) A little family picture with Betsy Drake about how they deal with a house full of adopted kids.
Don't know where it is but it mus be in a legal mess.

There is a shot in a Buster Keaton short (which I will have to look up) that is a "widescreen" shot.
It's purpose was to show a line of people and have everyone in the line in the shot. It was the only time used.

Another discussion from Mr. Programmer could be "The Business of Leasing Films." He could explain the way (the trouble?) he goes through to lease a pakcage of movies. He could possibly break it down into how each studio works.

TCM and AMC rest next to each other on my cable but I'm not sure how one would mix them up. AMC doesn't show enough old movies after about 10am or 11am to be a problem.
The bugs are getting worse on regular cable channels. They are bigger. They are higher up on the screen. They are annoying. When I had to sit through "Law and "Order" with the bug counting down the days until "Lipstick Jungle" premiered I thought I'd go crazy. Well when it finally premiered I was livid when "Law and Order" had a bug touting an "all new Lipstick Jungle" next week. And the next time someone pops their head out from behind a bug and sound effects follow them across the screen I may need a new TV.

How did we get a picture from "The Guns of Navarone" in here. Oh yea, "western" Europe. (Well, it's a stretch for Greece but I'll still go with it.)

-
Laurel & Hardy, The Marx Bros and a silent from Keaton. Generally I'll feel much better, until it's over.

Jack:
I still call them albums too. It is easier to say than CD (it is also easier on the ear.) They are still a collection of songs. Now if you used the term LP then we might have a "failure to communicate."

>Another idea, bring in homemade M&M chocolate chip cookies
Now there's a match made in heaven. They have to be big cookies to hold the chips and the M&Ms.
I have to run to the store.

I admire people who have the talent to write. I think I tend think that no one would be that interested to read anymore than what I might write here, if that.
MIke:
I really enjoy learning about WWII so I'll be visiting yours.
Miss O'Shea: (as long as that is not reserved exclusively for Kyle.)
Nice to see you have one. Based on your schedules it should be interesting reading.
For others:
Thankd for sharing your sites. More places to learm. Great

Don't forget to look for her in a small role as the wife on trial in *Adam's Rib* with Tracy and Hepburn.

Judy gets a big "Yeah" from me.
She is lovely, funny and very good. "Phffft" was mentioned but "It Should Happen To You" is required vieweing. "The Solid Gold Cadillac" is not shown too often but is fun to watch.
"Full of Life" is sitting on my shelf. I must get to it soon.

>Why even bother to reply to an original posting that's utterly incoherent to begin with?
Good point. I'm tired enough not to bother anymore. I've been her long enough I shouldn't have to defend myself or others for the way we are here.
A little research will more than explain.

It's good you are still here. You have too much information and knowledge to share not to be here.
