I don't think it has made it to DVD yet. You'll have to keep an eye on the schedule.

Sugarpuss?
They would have in common the personality of being kindly but firm and brilliant. At least Sugarpuss is cute.

GOS:
Of those you mentioned "Marty", "The Killing" and "Summertime" are 1.37:1 (the standard ratio prior to '53) "The Night of The Hunter" is 1.66:1. This is according to imdb.com. They give the ratios on titles.
Standard TV is shown as 4:3 or 1.33:1.
While the vast majority of films were done in W/S not everything was shot that way.

Mark:
The rule of thumb is that pratically everything made in 1954 and later is some form of widescreen. TV movies are made in the standard TV format. There are quite a few different widescreen formats so they won't all look alike.
Quite a few DVDs of older movies might have both widescreen and full frame on wither side of the same disc. Keep an eye out for that. Mostly you can use the year as your starting point. Others should be around with more details.

If I can do it (and I think you voted for me before) you certainly can. You certainly have the knowledge. It's work but it's fun. It's also quite rewarding when you get a vote. Even if you don't win it is quite satisfying to know someone really liked your schedule. Come on in the water's fine.
Kyle:
I'd be ok with waiting a month. Of course, if you get a load of interest it's your call.

It's hard to disagree with anything. In fact, the one thing I most agree with is his comment on "young Guns." I could never quite put it in words but he's right, for me at least, it does seem a bunch of kids playing cowboy.
I think part of the reason Selleck had so much success with his TNT westerns is, IMO, they tended to be more straightforward about the morality of the characters. This may also be why they didn't make theatrical releases in that fashion.

Congratulations Kyle. A great schedule. Is this your second win? Now we can all keep an eye out for the schedules come spring and see if any of us "win" there. Everyone did a great job.
I have thanked Kyle but I also want to thank my secret voter.
Nancy, thank you as well. It might have been a bit late but I'm flattered and it's nice to know you liked my schedule.

filmlover:
Thanks for such wonderful covers. I, and many others, always look forward to these efforts. You always do a great job. They are very much appreciated.
Ben:
Thanks for the slideshow. That is really well done.

Sugarpuss:
In what is beginning to look like a run-away contest (compared to my vote tally) my vote is for Kyle's schedule. It was the one I would most want to sit down and watch.
(Frankly, all of the schedules would keep me busy but I have to go to work at some point.)
Congratulations to my fellow "schedulers." All of you did a magnificent job and I am sure there will be many themes that were created by you that will wind up on the schedule next spring and summer. You continue to set a very high standard.
Again, Sugarpuss, my thanks to you for hosting this contest and being a fine cheerleader for me and the others.

And to my Netflix list it goes. Thanks for the title.

My goodness. These pictures confirm what I already knew, we have some lovely ladies here.

"I have actually always saw him as a potential western actor"
MissGoddess:
Remember he played a small but important role in "The Quick and The Dead" with Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman? (An odd western though it was.) With his roles in "Gladiator" and "Master and Commander" I don't think it is too far for him to be a Western star.

I'm not sure you can unsubscribe as much as you don't come back. There are ways to unsubscribe to the newsletters and such but I think there is really a way to delete yourself. Your posts remain. You might be able to delete some of your info but I think your registration stays on record.
Sorry to see you go.

I'm not crazy about the idea of a remake of this film but I'll give them credit for making a western. In today's market that's pretty rare. I'm sure it will be made with today's audience in mind. In fact, the trailer seems to have that written all over it. It would also appear Christian Bale is not going to be anything like Van Heflin. Heflin's character was such a great contrast to Ford's that that only made for plenty of tension.
Maybe if it's a hit they'll try some more and maybe an original idea for a movie.

They did when it premiered early last year. Hopefully they will do it again.
BTW, welcome to the boards.

I've never printed out THREE months worth of schedules.
The TCM Programmer has said on this board that there are times they don't get a that is good enough to show or there may be other problems with it. They might even get the wrong film. There's usually going to be a pretty good reason.

I liked Ford too. He must have been ok. He sure made plenty of westerns.

Mongo and drdoolittle:
Last fall Ned Wynn (Keenan's and Eve's son) posted here and shared some comments about Van as well. He posted under "ekw."

The TCM programmer does answer questions once in a while. Also one of the employees who goes by the screen name MGMWBRKO will post an occasional remark. He is best known for posting a schedule of short films on this board.

> Did anyone mention setting the alarm for the middle
> of the night to get up and change DVDs? Or
> highlighting and color coding the Now Playing Guide?
I underline the movies I want to see in the Now Playing Guide. I used to do that with the local tv guide when I was a kid. Back in the 70's, even on a school night, I would set the alarm to get up and watch a movie in the middle of the night.

Please, if you enjoy doing this, and we enjoy reading it, don't give it up. As long as TCM doesn't come calling....
This has always been one of the most popular threads and as long as you have Mongo's blessing (who really is among the most admired people here) please continue. Many of us will be glad you did. We appreciate your effort to update it as well as Mongo's for doing it originally.

Someone on another thread was asking about it. It played earlier this week so it is still very much shown. It's just a matter of being able to catch it. One thing we do know is it is not in the TCM video collection on this site.
Welcome on. I hope you have fun.

It sounds like "Never A Dull Moment" with Fred MacMurray and Irene Dunne. It also has a young Natalie Wood at a kind of awkward age in her life.

Thanks for Voting in the TCM "Back to Basics" Programming Challenge!

there one big difference between General Bradley and I - and that's the amount of hair on our heads! How about I just go to a country, stop a war and become General Sugarpuss?
I like it. I like it.
Sally had great philosophies in life. For instance - "What do I care?" "So what." Do you have something we should all live by?
