That would be it. I'm a dolt.

She must have brought her curlers too.

Well, I have obviously mistaken her for someone else. Not sure who but that wasn't the body I had in mind when I wrote my comment. Ignorance rears its ugly head once again.
Thanks for setting me straight.

Hi Kyle:
How great that you met him. I love Barry's music. I think he was a composer with a keen ear for an unusual melody and exotic chord structures. His music is frequently playing on my stereo. That compilation, "Moviola," has long been a family favorite. It is hard to imagine anyone refusing a Barry score.

The Divine MissG:
Congratulations on 24,000 posts. It's been fun and educational. You're a treat.
This discussion of "Rawhide" has been great to read. I really don't have anything to add. It is a film I've seen a couple of times. It is good, solid entertainment. It's not great but but it does well for no more of a story line then being held hostage at a stage depot.
It is, for me, one of the more memorable climaxes. That is all Jack Elam and a daringness to do it.
I think Sir Francis mentioned how dirty the bad guys were just so you knew they were bad guys but my problem with anyone is that Hayward looks too good for the situation. But that is Hollywood and a small quibble. Marlowe never seemed the bad guy type, and he does show some manners, but I think he does a fine job in a role one wouldn't think he would do.

John Barry died today.
I love his work. Some of my favorite things to listen to are the soundtracks from "Dances With Wolves" and "Playing By Heart." Two collections of instrumentals called "The Beyondness of Things" and Eternal Echoes" are frequently on my ipod because they are so beautiful and soothing to listen to.
If you are looking for something good of his to listen to and you are new to him try to get a copy of "Moviola." When my daughter was young she loved to go to sleep to it.

>I guess the swashbuckling helped.
Yes. Granger looks much better in tight pants than does Lockwood.

Maybe we can share a room at the hospital.

A few other suggestions for her are "Angel and The Bad Man," "7 Men From Now," and "Wake of The Red Witch," All with some connection with John Wayne. He was a friend who tried to help her.
-
More Hank Worden than Walter Brennan. That is the John Wayne total kicking in.

This is most likely the "Video Descriptive Service." You will sometimes see this in the movie rating card before the movies. These are used for people who are visually impaired. It's their version of closed captioning.
How odd the cable company would have this even by accident.

I did not see the movie not am I at all familiar with it but, my goodness, the work you put into your post is to be admired. If you go to that much trouble then I have to find a copy.

Ed Ames played "Mingo."

I was too young but from the statistics I wonder if everyone just got tired of them, Then they completely died when the western film went into a coma.
Maybe the miniseries is just the right length. Just enough emotion and time invested.

Quietly is right. If I would have known....

We'd like to hear from you.
I could listen to Garner all day. I liked the fact that they got people from the shows to talk. Seeing Arness was a big bonus.

Let me give this a try.
1. The Awful Truth
2. My Favorite Wife
3. Holiday
4. Bringing Up Baby
5. The Philadelphia Story
6. Mr. Blandings
7. Talk Of The Town.
8. The Bishop's Wife
9. Bachelor and The Bobby Soxer
10. Operation Petticoat
11. Notorious
12. Destination Tokyo
13. Monkey Business
14. Gunga Din
15. The Grass Is Greener
There, that sounds bland enough.

I like Grant's comedies overall more than the dramas. I agree with MissG's first four comedies but might put "The Philadelphia Story" at 5. "Operation Petticoat" might work its way into my Top 15.
Others include "Talk of The Town" and "Destination Tokyo."
Can't argue with anything on your list.
For the other side of Grant check out "The Howards of Virginia" and "The Pride and The Passion." Proof that not everything was a winner. Oh, throw "Night and Day" in there.

"Sons of The Desert" is likely to be shorter and certainly more entertaining. At least at "SOTU" the constant standing ovations will be spread out better than usual.
-
127. This eye is a different color. THAT and cute too.

A couple of those and "Duel At Silver Creek" are on Netflix streaming.

Heavens, I don't even know 50 directors. (And I call myself a movie fan,) I've only known about Richard Quine for a couple of weeks, consciously that is.
I like "Jubal." Ford plays a nice guy caught up in circumstances of loyalty and walks a fine line in a love triangle and a man out to get him. Interesting story line. I heard someone say it is a loose Shakespeare of a play but I'm not smart enough not tell you which one.
-
Yes. He's turned into Charles Durning.
