I don't think anything will change after a third time. It is the same way with vegetables. On the other hand our Miss Favell did have a revelation about "The Searchers" after several more times. Maybe there is hope. (For Ryan, not the vegetables.)
-
It is too much like what happened to "TLC." (The Learning Channel.) I'm not sure they have taught anyone anything in some time, at least nothing relevant.
-
Wow, if you find Ryan annoying here there must be something amiss. Scary is a different matter.
-
Well, I thought of you when I saw it. I also wanted to add it to my collection of those tributes but after the sixth or seventh time I was getting less excited about it. (It is a good one though.) One film that did intrigue me was the one with him and Ida Lupino where he threatens her. He is kind of creepy there. I'll have to watch it one more time to get the title of the film.
However, the last thing I want here is for anyone to be mad at me and certainly not you.
Also, if I don't see the trailer for "A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court" again anytime soon it is fine with me.

Two things.
I got an Emergency Broadcast System test near the end of a short. One minute later and I would have missed it. Argghhhhh!
At least I don't have to watch the Robert Ryan tribute with Ernest Borgnine again. It must have run after every other film.
-
I didn't check yesterday but that happened to a recording I did when they had their day on "Summer Under The Stars." It was a constant buzzing and I couldn't hear any dialog. I'll check yesterday's and see if it is the same.
-
As you both suggested I sent him a note. The man must be busy beyond reason but I hope that somebody gets it and can show the film again.
Tomorrow life takes over again.

It was a nice day to be in front of the TV. Then to top it off, and because that is where the TV was left, I caught my bride watching the Ranier interview. She liked her.
Thanks for the suggestions.
-
Yes. About half the film was left off. It might have been a print that was used for TV and a break for a spot might have made someone think it was over. (Someone shared that thought in another thread.)
I'm sure TCM will broadcast is again. I'd let someone know except I don't know where to tell them.

Stan had a word of wisdom. "You can lead a horse to water but a pencil has to be lead."
Sorry you're having a lousy day. Mine is going quite well so far.
-
Fred, that was "Them Thar Hills."
Something just happened to "Below Zero." It was cut short.
-
Okay. I'm bummed. I'm watching "Below Zero" and they cut it short. I don't know what happened but it is not all there.
-
I'm a idiot. I went over my list twice and somehow I missed that I didn't have "Thicker Than Water." I had practice last night but that is no excuse.
I happened to be up a 4:30 this morning (my bride left for work) so I watched "The Music Box" in your honor.
-
Hi Christina:
It has been shown occasionally in the past so keep an eye out.
-
How sweet. Thank you. Maybe I'll have to join one of their "tents." I've thought about it now and then but never went anywhere with it.
"The Music Box" is Roach. It is one of my favorites as well.
I hope you enjoy some as well.

>Since I'm on the newer side of watching classic film, I've attempted to broaden my horizons. I've bought many DVDs that are nothing but new experiences for me. The vast majority of DVDs that I buy, I have never seen the movie before.
It is amazing to think that you are on the "newer" side. I've learned plenty from you. It makes me think for a lot of years I wasn't paying very close attention.
Buying DVDs I've never seen is out of my comfort zone. I always wonder how much I like it and how many times am I likely to watch it before I am comfortable enough to plunk down $10 or $20.'
I also like reading some of the rambles before I watch something. I don't want to read too much lest it give me a preconceived notion of things but I like to get a sense of what everyone likes and a few things to look for.

47 Ford films. Amazing. And I get the sense you are not all that fond of him.
I don't have near as many as either of you. Part of me thinks I'll never be able to watch them and another part thinks that at 40 cents a disc I ought to record everything. I think I did figure, based on another of your lists, that about 25% of my films are westerns.

Shoes are the first thing my wife takes off when she gets home. We also have a church group that meets at a friend's house and everyone takes off their shoes but me. We're very close.
-
I should get Carolann to talk about Sam with you. She sometimes says to me "Why can't you talk like Sam?"
-
It's hard to tell. If it were a difficult stunt it would seem to lend itself to one of the early 50s westerns. However, if it were something more sedate like a riding stunt it would figure that it might be for "The Rare Breed."
When I was reading Chuck Roberson's book there were occasions that he appeared as an extra in a film but did a good bit of the stunt work. Neither imdb or the TCM data base makes any direct reference to a Stewart film. Nearly every other site mentions Stewart as well as others he doubled.
All this is just a guess though.

Everything is relative. I live about 40 minutes from Washington DC. People plan for vacations and it can be a huge financial burden if they want to come here. I get to hop in the car and go anytime I want. The same thing applies for any type of venue anywhere.
I don't think anyone else can claim that Lynn and Lyle are bragging. It is all geography.

They've been running "Have Gun Will Travel" for at least a year and we have had discussions about it. It is well liked around here. True enough, "Wagon Train" just started and with it being that recent there isn't much yet but there has been some general favorable comments.

Stewart was a pilot who flew many missions over Germany. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross. I have a book about his war service. "Jimmy Stewart - Bomber Pilot."
And yes, "Flight of The Phoenix" would be a great "ramble." Put it on the calendar.

Grooving to Laurel and Hardy and more this week on TCM!!!

Burn down the house trying to make a fire. (No I have not done that.)
For some people, me, some things do not come easy. What is easy for others is a complicated task where disaster awaits my next step. Things that others can do in their sleep and blindfolded are can be an event of unspeakable frustration only to have it come out as if a three year old completed it. I hardly try anymore.
Our boys often suffer from the same affliction. Their heart and their intentions are in the right place. After that it is all downhill. The more they try to make it right the worse it gets until their frustration has passed its limit. Then is when it really gets crazy.
Somewhere in their lives we see ourselves. But we are never quite as ineffective as they are. In the end though, who wouldn't want a friend that loyal and close.
