It is a delightful movie. I watched a DVD of it back in the winter and compared to the trailer of this one the print was awful. Powell and Dunne area wonderful. Nothing deep just a fun family film.
-
Whenever someone leaves the house - "Have fun storming the castle." (The Princess Bride.) My daughter likes to use "What's all this then?" (John Cleese in "Silverado.") When my wife and I call each other I answer "Woman of the house." (The Quiet Man.)

This is a special film that my children and I watch once in awhile. I took them to see it on the big screen several years ago. We had a fine time.
Two things get to me in the movie. One is the shot of Peck sitting on the porch swing listening to the kids talk. The other is Peck's exit from the courtroom. (I think that is LZ's favorite scene.)
There is a lot to be said about it. It holds a special place for my daughter because she told me that when the day comes she wants her children to call me Atticus. It's a nice thought but little kids tend to make up their own names for their grandparents. I am sure mine will be no different.

Keep checking back.

*NOTE:*
Keep checking back over the next couple of days there is a surprise coming you won't want to miss. It is not from me but it is something you'll want to look for.

I'll have some comments after ward but here are the final totals of the 16th Programming Challenge.
The winner is *COUNTESSDELAVE*
Countessdelave - 11
Sansfin - 3
Fedya -3
Audreyforever - 2
Rdmtimp - 2
Lonesomepolecat - 2
Capuchin - 1
Kingrat - 1
I am very happy with the way this turned out. Save for a few people who had planned on participating and couldn't we received wonderful schedules from everyone. I am not sure (and I am not really inclined to check) but I don't think anyone has won by the margin "countessdelave"did. With all the fine schedules it is all the more amazing they won by that count.
I am very glad everyone got a vote. Several of you are first timers and you are to be congratulated for putting up a schedule. They are hard work. Just completing it should be a reward. That someone liked it above all others is something to give you confidence for the next one. I thank you for taking the time and making the effort to "play."
Thanks to all who voted. That you also made comments to congratulate and encourage those who you didn't vote for should also be of great encouragement for them.
I appreciate the thoughts of those who wrote to me. Twice now my fear was not enough schedules and not enough votes. I'm glad that was not the case.
Countessdelave, you will now get to decide when and how the next challenge will be held. Good luck to you. If I can be of service just say the word.

*Sansfin:*
There are parts of this that are time consuming. Copying all the schedules and getting them the way people wanted to show them, with underlining or in bold type, etc. can be tiring, at least the only way I knew how it was. But once it is out and ready for others to read and consider it is a good feeling.
Though I hosted I had the pleasure of having people enjoy and vote for my schedule in the las contest. That is how I got to host this one.
*MissG:*
Thank you for the compliment. You would be better at this than you know. Maybe someday. Thanks.

Votes are still coming and there is still time. You can check in through midnight Pacific time. (3am Eastern time.) Sometime late in the morning I will announce the winner.
Good night all.
-
I had suspected that English was not your native language. You write it beautifully. You have every reason to be proud of your ability and accomplishments.
-
It's great to see so many votes coming.
Since it has been brought up in the last few posts this might be an ideal time to remind everyone that the winner (announced tomorrow) will have the honor (and I hope pleasure) of hosting the next challenge. While they will be free to pick their start time there is usually several months between them.
Eight fine schedules from which to choose your favorite. Make somebody's day and vote.

It is still anybody's contest to win. We know Filmlover will be along after the celebrates and hopefully others will too.
A winner will be announced Saturday. I don't want to be the tiebreaker.

Important things first.

Ah, yes, the "Milk Dud" test.

*"I can slap you down and then give you a hug."*
I love it.
*Neither one of us is any great "prize" I am sure, in the great scheme of things as far as the world is concerned... We have our faults and our failings, but we are exactly right for one another. And that is a really good thing.*
Don't kid yourself. To fulfill someone's life because you love them and are there for them and share the everyday things makes both of you prize enough.

My bride picked it our years ago when we were setting up email accounts. For me it says I like movies, I'm a man and I'm older than dirt.
-
Gee, I hope there are some adding to the drama by making a late entry to vote for their favorite schedule.
Don't wait too long. An update may come later tonight as my internet at home is back up.
Voting ends tomorrow night.

*Mom saw SONG OF LOVE.*
*"Seven children? They never came up for air, did they?"*
It is like the old Groucho Marx line to a woman on finding out she had 11 children. "I like a good cigar but occasionally I take it out of my mouth."
My father is the youngest of 14. He told me "they were very close." How's that for understatement?
-
Duke has a very good rapport with Dietrich. They are fine together in "The Spoilers." They are better together than "Seven Sinners" is as a movie to me. MissG and I talked about that one a little while ago. She liked it better than I did. I think I was in a bad mood when I watched it.
I caught "In Harm's Way" (most of it at least over Memorial Weekend. I saw "Wake of The Red Witch" about a year ago. Watching Wayne and Russell is fun. Some exciting stuff there. It's been a few years for "Hatari."
Don't sell yourself. I've rad enough of your comments to feel you are not boring. You are certainly interesting and fun.
JF:
My situation is not overwhelming but frustrating. As if I don't worry enough anyway I don't need my kids to give me more.
-
Sir Francis:
Are those the Wayne movies you have seen or are most interested in seeing? I have "El Dorado" a couple of the others I have seen recently. Others I could get if you want to talk about them. I saw "Pittsburgh" a long time ago. I don't remember much about it though.
BTW, with all that "excitement" of being married with kids comes, for me, a lot of worry. As my kids are grown that is a whole different kind of worry than "Ro" has. Believe me it is not all that all the time. I am going through some "excitement" right now. Whoopee!

Shucks.

I think Mae probably thought Jerry would never look in her drawer. She may think he would have no reason to.
Earl, I agree, probably thinks he is a ladies man. However, thinking you are one and being one are two different things. That is why he talks so differently to Mae than the others. He tries to be poetic or sophisticated and I don't think he is.
When you all started talking mundane I thought you were talking about me. Chris Mundane. It has a realistic ring to it.

Voting runs through Friday night. I hope there are many of you looking at the schedules and will vote. Lots of hard work went into these wonderful efforts.
Thank you for your support.

That's it. You nailed it.

You haven't seen all of it? You can watch it while you are waiting for your tea water to heat up. Let me know if I can be of service.

RAMBLES Part II

There are probably a couple of things that went on when Ewell shows up at the Robinson's. They son know "the way things are." Tom is already in trouble. Anything they do, no matter how justified, will only put them right in the same place. Also, Atticus is there. I don't think they would have dreamed of doing anything with him there. I think they respect him too much to do that.
Atticus shows no fear. When everyone comes to the jail cell I think he would have been enough to hold them off. What Scout said was really a tension breaker but he stands there resolute and unafraid. I think he still would have held them off.
The best part of Cal and how the kids love and respect her is when she gets after Scout for insulting Walter for all the syrup he put on his dinner. Cal scolds her and pops her on the butt and Scout doesn't complain to her father. Scout may not have liked it but she respected Cal's authority.
