  4. UNFORTNATELY I STILL LIVE IN TAMNOA BAY, FL LOVED HOLLYWOIOID THOUGH & WENT THERE (3) DIFFERENT TIMES@! Not the politics, but the history of TINSEL-TOWN, that is what is still-standing for now? Got to stay a;l; three times close to old entrance of RKO RADIPO, now PARAMOUNT' S SIDE DOOR & COULD SEE PARAMOUNT TOWER FROM MY MOTEL Now bars are all over Gower & RKO Radio's old side of that street. MGM is thee single worst scandal/travesty, once over 200 acres, now reduced to barely 40 in Culver City. Mr,. Kirk Kirkorian in ';69 was the sole blame for that DREAM FACTORY! Would not want to live in HOLLYWOODLAND-) sign read that from 1923-0490) itself, but maybe LA,etc EXCEPT FOR THE MAMMOTH TRAFFIC-(see 1993 terrific (***1/2) "Falling Down" ($41m.) Among top reasons I visited THE GRAVEYARDS/CEMETARIES" Especially what was always dubbed "THE DISNEYLAND OIF CEEWTARUIES" in "FOREST LAWN, cem" in GLENDALE, CALIF-(not to be confused with the other "f. Lawn" in Hollywood Hills, much mire modern stars chose that park instead I never saw this as morbid, mainly because sooo many heavyweights spent time there in life selecting their final resting place <aster if fact many get hutched there Reagan & *J. Wyman did I think in 1948. JUST A SHOIRT EXAMPLE OF HOLLYWOOD GOLDEN AGERS THAT CHOISE GKENDAEARE Harlow's untimely 1937 demise caused an uproar at it's nit famous frt gates! 5. THAT ISEXACTKY WAT IMEAN BUDDY! That means it will now be inlegible for nominations This now happens a lot & it's unfair JOHN C. REILLY as Ollie looks tremendous! & was also said to be strong in the modern era Westen "Sist res Brothers"
  6. Despite what you think of it, it will still taje home a couple statuettes for BEST DURECTOR (Curan's 2nd) Cinemastography_(A LOCK!), maybe Forteign-Film,& even Film Editing? It';s bizarre this year, will the now over 7,902 voting members only nominate it for F.film or BP GOLD? Or both?
  7. WOW BOY'O-(IRISH) YOIU SCOOPED ME ON THIS ABSOILUTE OSCAR CINTEBNDER & LIKELY WINNER GOOD GOING! Firstly, where do you reside & how did you get to see it? I;m still mighty **** that this asinine area never got STAN & OLIIE
  8. Despite it's detractors I still find *Fosse's 1979 ALL THT JAZZ to be brilliantly made filmmaking!
  9. Knowing him he'll probably do even more! His ma lived to be 96!
  10. WOW SPORTS FANS! NO TAKERS HERE, WHY NOT??? Only wanted you fans to give own nominee forecasting, what happened? My theory is, majority of my fellow TCM-ITES don't go to many new releases & still read everything movie released, so whats the problem (EXAMPLE: To date the only seen about 1/2 out of the past 8 BP contenders, but still adore/love to predict anyway & again, by no means my personal favs of said year! SCORING 21 for 24 on winners last year) which are much easier then forecasting the nods of curse
  11. Had a shot to see THE MULE yet pal? but this time out very unlikely to snag him more nods & *oscars (P.S. & I am totally disgusted in my long awaited-0(3-4 months) STAN & OLLIE of course & typicaly for down here in FL to not get a wide release GO FIGURE??? One hold out the guy that is everywhere thesdays OHN C. REILLY just may & hopefuilly snag his 2nd shot as Oliver Hardy-(l892-l957)?
  12. ANYINE RECALL GOSSIP QUEEN RONA BARRETT-(l937)? Backwhen I was first falling in oove with CINEMA & first it';s history of course, at about age 14. ROINA'S GOSSIP RAG WAS ABOUT THE ONE & OINLY & SHE REALLY POULLED A>>>> IN PREDUCTING IN IT THAT *WARREN'S WONDERFUL 1978 "HEAVEN CAN WAIT" WOULD ABSOLUTELY SWEEPT 5 to 6 ACADEMY AWARDS FOR 1978 I STILL PERSONALLY ADORE *WARREN'S VERSION A BIT OVER "HERE COMES MR. JORDAN: MYSELF, BUT THIS was asinine by HER THAT YEAR, OBVIOUSLY THE MAGNIFUICENT VIETNAM WAR-EPOIC *"THE DEER HUNTER" swept 50 & furthermore "COMING HOME": took home (3) INSTEAD!? THOUGHT HREAVEN DID TAKEHIME BEST ARt-DIRECTION,LIKELY DUE TOI THE CONCORDE SEQUENCE (NOTE: as a kid of 9 to 15 or so I used to go through Rona's mags to try 7 find pix of my very first idol (STEVE "KING OF MOVIE COOL" McQUEEN-(l930-l980)
  13. BY ALL ACCOUNTS THE TOP 3-5 ALL_TIME FINEST FILM CRUITUICS, AUTH0RS & HISTORIANS WERE (JAMES AGEE-(l909-55) also write scripts for "A. Queen" & "Night of the Hunter")-(SEE BELOW *CLINT FILM) 2nd best ever _(ALL SUBJECTIVE) LEONARD MALTIN (1950-) 3rd *WILLIAM GOLDMAN (l931-2018) (also ewroite reviews & scripts, winning twice) HIS FAV. MOVIE & He'd ALWAYS END HIS ARTCLES IN "PREMIERE" THAT "GUNGA DIN" WAS A #1 EVER!)-(P.S. A good *Eastwood drama fans must see is 1990's "White Hunter, Black Heart" (l990) ($1m.) 4th ROGER EBERT (l942-2013) & GENE SISKEL-(l946-99)
  14. Still alive? GENE SHALIT IS NOW AGE 92! BUT, I grew up with EBERT && SISKEL first finding them in summer of 19790 when I was 14, on PBS reviewing "B. Away" (***1/2) & stunningly both went early???
  15. Only barely just browsed this one buddy I always after 38yrs-(when he used to correspond with me reg. mail from tv's ET around 1981-(he started on that show just after NATALIE WOOD went way & disliked his sciring of 0 to 10 at first, then he used the 1920's, 30's original-(DAUILY Ews) 0 to 4 star system, like the rest. DON'T KNOW THIS TOPIC, WILL GIVE IT THE OINCE IVER, BUT WHAT DID LEONARD DO??? (P.S. I almost petitioned on here a wee bit for them to add him vs that little pc weasel that worked fpor EW ,masg Dave Karger-(despised that guy!) I'd always go easily so far as that MR. MALTIN knows more about motion picture history then any other movie critic & historian ALIVE buddy! I';ve been getting his annual book-(NO MORE AVAILABLE) since 1987 * mpe he's branched out also covering DISNEY'S Animated shorts-(as u know for some bizarre reason TCM still cannot broadcast the heavyweights?) Leonard also predicted the Oscar noms * winners, etcHis mainfirte is really GOLDEN aGE HOLLYWOOD
  16. (P.S. who do you TCM-ITES personally think should hoist the 91st Annuak *(AMNPAS) Awards? My vote BOB lHOPE-(l903-2003) No kiddin' he by far holds the reckird though they were MC's & not epic hosts back then Bob hosted (15 to 217 incredible years!!!)om & questions to all-(Top billed, LawrenceA & Akeem, exactly what yr did *SINATRA do them??? I should know, I have 100's of book s & literature on him, just didn't feel like checking themout at present, but also gives you folks a shot at it THINK IT WAs fOR 1966 & he gave HOLLYWOOD a lecture, right?yjoimnl deserved ti hoist this year soorets fans??? ALL SITES, MAGS, ONLINE, BOOKS ALMOST DEMAND BILLY Back. He sways it's just to exhausting though in our era
  17. (*-as usual only denotes early likely frontrunner for final victory) (STILL SUBJECT TO CHANGE-(like the racetrack or Vegas, etc) until & days prior to the official noms be be announced Tuesday January 22nd, 2018) (SAVE & COMPARE, FOR NOW UNTIL THAT above deadline)> WHO & WHAT WILL POSSIBLY BE IN THE GOLDEN RACE FOR THE 91st ANNUAL ACADEMY (AMPAS) AWARDS BEST PICTURE-(& once again will be 8 to 10 contenders?): I DON';T CARE WHAT MOST SAY, I STILL PREFER JUST THE TOP FIVE MYSELF! (& as usual indicates likely leader *)??? "BLACKKKLANSMAN" "BLACK PANTHER" (strong ***out of four & is currently the #3rd biggest $hit$ ever!)-(over $700m. domestically) "BOHEMIAN RHAPSOIDY" "THE FAVOURITE"-(9 noms projected) "FIRST MAN" "GREEN BOOK" (***) "MARY POPPINS: RETURNS"-(after "The Mule" I'll check this out) ***ROMA" "A STAR IS BORN"-(projected to lead field w/,most overall w/9 to 10?) (***) (almost made $200m.) & "VICE" BEST ACTOR???: *CHRISTIAN BALE in "Vice"-(possible BLOW-OUT!) & would be his 2nd win after s. actor for "The Fighter") (P.S. who knew this was the 12yr old kid from *Spielberg's 1987 "Empire of the Sun, huh) BRADLEY COOPER, "A Star is Born" ETHAN HAWKE in "First, Reformed"-(won both LA & NY Critics) RAMI MALEK in "Bohemenian Rhapsody" & VIGGO MORTENSEN, "Green Book" BEST ACTRESS???: YALITA APRACIA in "Roma" EMILY BLUNT, "Mary Poppins; Returns" *GLENN CLOSE in "The Wife"-(her 7th shot!!!) OLIVIA COMAN , "The Favourite"=(any other yr she'd take it!) & LADY GA GA in "A Star is Born"-(AN ASIDE & I HATE IT, BUT IT'S TRUE A superior actress then my ":Queen") S. ACTOIR???: *MARHERSHELA ALI in "Green Book"-(just won 2 years ago though?) *TIMOTHY CHALAMET, "Beautuiful Boy"-(also up for "GOLDEN BOY" last year) SAM ELLIOTT, "A Star is Born" *RICHARD E. GRANT, "Can You Ever Forgive Me? & SAM ROCKWELL in "Vice" S. ACTRESS???: *AMY ADAMS in "Vice"-(will indicate her 6th attempt) *REGINA KING, "If Beale Street Could Talk" EMMA STONE in "The Favourite" & RACHEL WEISZ in "The Favourite" & NICOLE KIDMAN in "Boy, Erased" & BEST DIRECTOR???: DAMIEN CHAZELLE for "First Man" BRADLEY COOPER for "A Star is Born" *ALFONSO CURAN for "Roma")(A BLOW OUT!!!) YORGOS LANTHIMOUS, "The Favorite" & ADAM McKAY for "Vice" WRELP, there it is & again rush any & all views of your own THANK YOU & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
  18. RAY, you& I are sadly the chosen few in L. BARRYMORE doing this annually-(';38 was his grade finale, sadly) A. Sim on film gets my vote! Soo many have portrayed the legendary role even Henry Winkler, R. 0wen-(BORING!), *George C., Scott, Marlo Thomas & any more, but they can't old a candle. Now it gets a wee bit confusing because Jim Carrey played THE GRINCH? (P.S. Groucho woulda'; been another good concert, do you agree?) (TRIVIA: You likely know his 1946 Mr. Potter was just the sane type of guy, right)
  19. I WILL Directly Pal! I revised mny opinion though ongong to absolute *Oscar biggie "Voice" to see a linking to my childhood instead "MARY POPPINS: RETURNS" instead the next release Linking it is it was very fuirst new release y mum took me to as a kid-(reissue) around '67/68 The recent version-(live action & more) I also thought was marevelous & gave it 4 stars! Something thesedays I rarely do anymore I ring that '67 wondeful animated flick up because it was my 2nd I BET EmILYI:Y BLUNT scores her first AMPAS shot, no chance of winning though over CLOSE
  20. I already just asked yet another buddy of mine on the finest forums on the net-(DESPITE THEM CUTTING US DOWN?) *COOPER, *JOHN WAYNE, *EASTWOOD??? My vote *THEDUKE") & DON'T WANT TOIGIVE Y TRIVIA QYESTIONAWAY TO HIM, JUST INCASE *CLINT'S BOYHOOD IDOL & REST OF HIS LIFE (1961) WAS THE LEGENNDARY 232 TIME BEST ACTIR WINNER: GARY COOPER-(l90l-l96l) THE MOST! Reason you get "I RECKON' SO" so much (ALSO-ANS FOR "THE MAN WITH NO NAME" & his other idols, under *COOP! *Jimmy Stewart & strangely *James Cagney But,he has always been adamant that *Ford's magnificent 5 tie *Oscar sweeping *"HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY" (Fox)is his #1 film! Even over KANE that year & even more cinefax: *Ford thought Hawks 1941 "Sergent York'; really deserved the major statuettes over his *"VALLEY"
  21. IS IT OLD WIRKER, CLOSE POAL LENNIE NEIHAUS AGHAIN ON HIS SCORING?
  22. WHEN HE'S GONE HE WILL BE HIGHLY REMEMBERED FOR A FEW LEGENDARY NAMNES "Dirty Harry" "Josey wales" "Frankie Dunn" "William Munny":0(my fav.), & of course "THE MANWITH NO NASME???" whats you vite?
