  1. My favorite will always be Road to Morocco. A near perfect comedy/ musical film. Utopia comes close though. I also like Road to Bali. "Hoot Mon" is probably my favorite number from their films.
  2. https://thephilosophicalsalon.com/the-oldest-testament/ THE OLDEST TESTAMENT A rabbi, a priest, and an imam walk into a bar. Separately, each orders a Shirley Temple. Then the three proceed to argue which beverage tastes the best, and why the others are drinking poison. This unfunny joke is no laughing matter. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam agree on one fundamental idea: they all promote the belief in one and the same God, and attempt (at least on paper) to usher in the twilight of the pagan idols. Whether you like it or not, this revolutionary critique of polytheism might

He wasn’t nicknamed ‘Zlodey’ (the Villain) for nothing. Vyacheslav Tsepovyaz is one of the most ruthless thugs in Russia. In 2010, his gang dispatched a death squad to kill a farmer in the southern Krasnodar Region. T

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one of the many GOP lawmakers furious over Trump’s escalating attacks on Sessions, let the president know in no uncertain terms that cutting the former Alabama sen
  5. https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2018/11/07/elec-n07.html US midterm vote: Democrats win control of House of Representatives The Democratic Party won control of the House of Representatives in the midterm elections on November 6, gaining more than the 23 seats required for a majority. With many House races too close to call or with large numbers of votes still uncounted, particularly in states like California and Washington, which provide for voting by mail, the five television networks projected a Democratic victory with a gain of 30 seats or more. The Republican Party retained
  6. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/415571-read-jeff-sessionss-resignation-letter Read Jeff Sessions's resignation letter President Trump on Wednesday announced the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a development that is likely to spark a firestorm of criticism following the midterm elections. Trump has repeatedly lashed out at Sessions over his recusal from the investigation into Russia's election meddling and other alleged failures. There was widespread speculation the president would move to fire him after the midterms. Sessions said he submitted
  7. https://www.rt.com/news/443372-macron-petain-nazi-collaborator/ ‘Pétain is a traitor!’: Macron blasted for planned homage to WWI hero turned Nazi collaborator French President Emmanuel Macron has been derided for defending his decision to honor Marshal Philippe Pétain, a veteran leader of the First World War who would later collaborate with the Nazis. “I consider it entirely legitimate that we pay homage to the marshals who led our army to victory. Marshal Pétain was a great soldier in World War One,” Macron said. Jewish groups, political opponents and French citizens
  8. Edward-Isaac Dovere ✔@IsaacDovere Democrats lost around a net 900 seats in state legislatures over the Obama presidency. With special elections and last night, they won 333 back this cycle. 6:31 AM - Nov 7, 2018 6,317 1,695 people are talking about this
  9. I assumed it was common knowledge that it was a satirical current events site. Did you really never hear of the Onion before coming here?
  10. From Philippe de Broca Up to His Ears
  11. A Slightly Pregnant Man - Comedic farce starring Mastroianni. His character experiences stomach pains and the doctor explains that he is the first pregnant male that resulted from man's modern lifestyle. Meh, this one wasn't particularly funny and the soundtrack was really grating. Demy is not one of my favorite directors. I don't like many of his films.
  12. Touki Bouki - A couple want to get to Paris so they steal the money from a local tribe that was going to use the money to build a statue of DeGaulle. This movie is pretty funny and I liked it more than Black Girl. The two go separate ways but plan to meet up on the ship. Of course things do not go their way. I recommend this one.
  13. The Holy Mountain - Another great film from Jodorowsky. He plays an enlightened monk who takes 9 corrupt, greedy, materialist people on a search for enlightenment. Like many of his films, this one has a lot of odd imagery and just bizarre content. The film even ends by breaking the fourth wall, showing the futility of it all! A good film for those interested in bizarre 70s cult films. Note: there is a lot of nudity and violence in this one.

He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce,” as Marx once pointed out. So it is with the latest batch of “lefts” seeking to keep the working class from its historic tasks. The “lefts” in Lenin’s time may have been tragically misguided, the latest batch are farcically deluded. Given the parlous state of the ideological position of ma

  16. Yeah, I get that. In fact, I agree that many can not stand that Trump won so they come up with a bunch of excuses and conspiracies. My original point was that Obama is irrelevant in this situation and bringing him up is just reaching for a way to deflect from what happened with the House.
  17. Obama's not even President anymore. You're just damage controlling because Dems won the House.
  18. Good film but I wish they didn't schedule English language films for TCM Imports, or if they did they were at least Giallo or Spaghetti westerns or something. A film from Australia could be programmed any day really.
  19. The Seventh Bullet - This Soviet western was filmed entirely in the Uzbek republic and stars only Uzbek actors. The dialogue is primarily in Russian but there is some Uzbek and Arabic dialogue too. In the days during the Russian Civil War, Maksumov is a Red Army commander whose troops betray him and leave for a Basmachi lord, Khairulla (who is also financed by the British who were financing fundamentalist rebels in Central Asia at the time) while he was away in Tashkent. The title comes from Maksumov's oath to kill Khairulla with his seventh bullet that he keeps tucked in the band of his hat.
  20. You mean you don't like Garbage Pail Kids?
  21. I think it is the ultimate film of the exploitation genre and has a very good social message that unfortunately is overshadowed by its notorious content. "I wonder who the real cannibals are." Some other runners up to my top 10 would be: Beau Hunks (1931), the Star (2002), Goldfinger (1964) and North by Northwest (1959).
