  2. I think she said that she was curious about leaving to the outside world and knew she had to lie if she wanted to see it. She was just too curious and it ended up killing her.
  3. I prefer subtitles but I will watch the dubbed version of movies if nothing else is available.
  4. Nur noch die Deutsche sprache kann uns retten! I speak German, Ukrainian and Russian fluently. I am also conversational in French, Hebrew and Mandarin (though my Mandarin is subpar compared to my skill in those other languages)

  6. Some of the foreign additions have a few additions for 1943 like Vredens Dag and Le Corbeau for example. Just curious, do you have the Flemish edition of 1001 Movies that has Fanfare (1958), Als Twee Druppels Water (1963) and a few others in it?
  7. I don't think there are any foreign additions from this year.
  8. Prokofiev should have won Best Scoring in 1935 and 1939.
  9. How about showing Andy Warhol's Empire?
  10. My list for 1939- 1.) Tractor Drivers, Ivan Pyryev, USSR 2.) Regle de Jeu, Jean Renoir, France
  11. Volga-Volga - Musical comedy about two composing choirs who travel to Moscow in order to win a lucrative prize. Very enjoyable.
  12. They'll certainly show the talkie version again. No need to be upset.
  13. The UN will make a movie about that after they make one about how they carpetbombed Korean civilians in a "liberated nation."
  14. 12:00 - One of the best interpretations of the Bard's masterpiece, Hamlet.
  15. I agree they should have listed it as Silent on the schedule or something. Some people might have wanted to record it too.
  16. Erich Von Stroheim was great in this one. One of my favorite actors.
  17. A bit off topic but my professor gave me the assignment of composing a tone poem for the Wagner Tuba. If there's anything that's difficult to do it's getting the Wagner Tuba to sound pleasant.
  18. You were right about the Lavender Hill Mob. That movie involves stealing money and counterfeiting and is on topic.
  19. All Quiet was the silent version they've only shown once before. That was a real treat!
  20. They actually show the talkie version quite a bit. They've only shown the silent version twice. They'll certainly show the talkie version again. No need to get so angry.
  21. She probably suffered a lot of abuse from Lohengrin not giving his name too.
  22. Since when do you hate silent movies so much? I thought you said in another thread that you liked Max Shreck in Nosferatu.
