  1. Huh... The Docks of New York is on that list and it's not scheduled. I could swear it was scheduled in an upcoming month. Must have been replaced.

  8. Okay, my bad. Why don't you make a list of things that are acceptable to discuss and threads acceptable to post in and those that are not? I would greatly appreciate it.
  9. No one here is outraged or calling for anything to be censored or have any names changed. We're merely discussing this. Is just discussing something an "outrage machine" to you? If we want to discuss something do we need your approval now?
  10. Ha! A bit off topic but you reminded me of how Igor Stravinsky almost got in trouble with the Boston Police for changing the Star Spangled Banner and using a dominant chord. A rumor later emerged that he was arrested for it which is untrue. Compared to some of the modern renditions of the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America and other such patriotic tunes, this seems very non-controversial to me.
  11. My grandma loved that one. She forgot the name sometimes and would call it "Frankenstein Jr."
  12. Give it time. When people find out, it will be the next manufactroversy.
  13. This is from the article btw- A university task force issued a report last month saying the Gish name and displays about “The Birth of a Nation” contributed to an “intimidating, even hostile, educational environment.” Jeez, I understand (but disagree) if they want to change the name but "intimidating" and "hostile" are just melodramatic.
  14. Well the people calling for the name to be changed are the ones really bringing politics into a non-political area here.
  15. I've always preferred Broken Blossoms. Despite the crude yellowface, it's a really good anti-racism movie.
  16. I wouldn't really consider either Millennials or Gen X as college age. Gen X are like 50+.
  17. They all make friends and go out to get ice cream and Dorothy Malone is turned into a fifty foot "babe."
  18. Yeah, I think the last time I saw it was the edited version as I didn't recall the God quote. Next week is Bride of Frankenstein which many consider even superior to the first film.
  19. Some of Jean-Pierre Melville's noir inspired films have also been on TCM.
