And this is how you disagree.
He/ she is just trying to rile people up. I doubt he even really cares about West Side Story at all besides using it to start a flame war.

That was a pretty funny MST3K episode.
*sun is blocked out*
Joel: "It's okay. I'm more of a night person anyway."
Also the chant of "Sampo! Sampo! Sampo!" like a cheesy commercial when it is first introduced is pretty good. A very enjoyable one of Ptushko's fantasy films of which he was known for in Russia.

Also on March 24 at 2 AM as part of the TCM Import is Melvilles' Les Enfants Terribles.

I own the original Cocteau novella of this. It's short and a good work.

I don't like it, but it is what it is, and there are many movie with whites in "yellow face" that I still enjoy. Oland and Asther are both actors who worked better in those roles than others. I think the worst were Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Mike Mazurki in Behind the Rising Sun, and Lee J. Cobb in Anna and the King of Siam.
Don't forget Chu Chin Chow (one of the really underrated versions of Ali Baba).

Tyrone Power Sr. had a main part in the original stage version of this one.

Chaplin composed music for many of his films and his are probably my favorite themes/ soundtracks from the silent era. I never watch them with any public domain score and I don't even like the Gold Rush re-release with a jazz score.

Ben has a magnificent head of hair as does his brother Josh. Must take after their mom’s side because Frank didn’t seem to have that trait.
Yeah, I think his hair is pretty nice too. I don't mind it. Also I think he looks a lot like the Russian actor Konstantin Khabensky.

I listen to whatever soundtrack comes with the film. These movies were usually done with accompaniment and that is the way I watch them. It does annoy me however when composers add completely different music that does not flow with the film. Sometimes the soundtrack used for the film shown on TCM will be too much and I mute it. I prefer when the soundtrack is something soothing and calm like Grieg, Bizet or other romantic era composers that are often selected from.

Interesting that a company's name was defined by one century...that we were still calling it 20th Century Fox instead of 21st Century Fox.
Of all the studio names, Universal seems the most futuristic and timeless. There could still be a Universal Studios a thousand years from now.
The old logo looks pretty futuristic for its day.

I just thought of something. Perhaps, in honor of TCM's anniversary this coming month, maybe, just maybe at some point TCM could (and should) do something nostalgic and show some of the original identifications and bumpers from their first year. For instance, the intro before a movie begins with the jazz musicians and people dancing. The only "original" bumper from TCM's first year that they still show is the "All Night" one, for movies shown usually after 2:00am.
Still, just a thought.
Yeah and they should really bring back the original Silent Sundays intro. too.

Beautiful film. One of my favorite Wenders' films, right up there with Wings of Desire.

For me, it's whenever famous, attractive personas play shy, loner characters. WAY too many films come to mind.
Marcello Mastroianni as the shy, celibate priest in The Priest's Wife. (because of course Mastroianni is the first to come to mind when you think "celibate"
)

Cary Grant in Bringing Up Baby. I know this one is a classic but I feel his role would have been much better given to Harold Lloyd or someone like that instead.

Yeah and Paul Lynde too.
Though maybe with him it was a bit less of a surprise.
