I saw a bit of that one yesterday. The sound was so terrible. The police commissioner speaks over the radio and it sounds like it was recorded through a can. I prefer the Zodiac Killer for the nonsensical, outrageous performance of the lead (hopping up and down on the top of one of his victim's cars
).

Experienced something today, hope I was mistaken or dreaming or something. I boarded a city transit bus in my neighborhood which picks up near a junior high school. It was around 3 or 4 pm-ish. I pay my fare, walk to a seat in the middle of the bus, and sit.
What I expect to hear from the back of the bus where a large crowd of kids are riding this bus just after having exited school for the day...I expect to hear raucous babble, jabber, chatter, laughter, jeers, slurs, taunts, jokes, catcalls, railery. Poking or prodding or shoving each other.
What I hear instead: complete, dead, empty, silence. Not a single word. No interaction at all. Every one of these twerps not even being a kid; just flatline brain dead zombies.
There's no way this is not wrong. Dang. Their parents truly oughta be HUNG FROM THE NEAREST LAMPPOST.
I take it maybe they were all gazing down at their phones.

Could it be "Night Must Fall" (1937)?

When I saw "Mon Oncle", at the time, it seemed to me to be the funniest film that had ever been made.
Trafic is probably my favorite of his films. Funny gag after gag with another scathing criticism of technology.

My favorite of his short films is probably School for Postmen. I like the bell gag the best.
Was funny to see it reused in Jour de Fete. Evening Class was very crude and with dull sets.

There are many decent audiobooks available on YouTube. I am currently making my way through this one. Decent translation but the pic used in the video isn't actually Stirner but rather some random guy. There are no pictures of Stirner.

Um. I don't understand. Butanyway, it's nice to get back to nice cars. Apropos of Trafic (1971):

It's a Siata Spring 850. 'Course, the way François drives it is a good part of the niceness.
I think the image may not load properly on his computer or something. It looks fine to me though. Also yes, that car is very nice. Very funny scene with Tati trying to calm her and tell her that her dog isn't dead but only making it worse and worse.

Fictional camping van from Jacques Tati's Trafic.

Doubles as a grill.
Also predicted television in cars.

Yep. In the radio version of 'Our Miss Brooks' Gordon was arguably the comedy lead. Arden's delivery --for the most part--consisted of tart replies. Gordon alternately bellowed, jabbered, roared, or emitted blood-curdling threats through pursed lips and clenched-teeth.
What's amazing to me is that the cast also features early vaudeville star Jane Morgan as Arden's landlady; Jeff Chandler as biology teacher Mr. Boynton, and a young Richard Crenna as a clumsy high school youth. I really don't know how Crenna did the squeaky voice of a the teen he portrayed.

I listened to this one played on the local (I think it was ?) radio with my dad as a kid and really enjoyed it. One of my favorite exchanges from the show was when they were in their swimsuits and about to go swimming (I forget the exact episode)-
Boynton: "Oh, Ms. Brooks. I never knew you had a mole there."
Ms Brooks: "Yeah, I've had one on my elbow quite a long time."

The only thing that would make this a more perfect world is to see his short films and his TV work.
The Evening Class (1967) has been on before I think. Also I too am very glad to see more Tati films coming on Imports. Can't wait.

From the Popeye cartoon- the Spinach Roadster. Popeye's car seems to be inspired by the Ford Model A while Bluto's is an early model Cadillac.

Now there was the Tarkovsky movie from the 1970's called "Stalker" but it is not really about the kind of demented pursuer I am researching on film.
I love that one. It is really more about the Freudian unconscious than anything else. When you enter the room, whatever you want will come to you regardless if you are even conscious of it or not. The Stalker recounts how the man wanted his family member back but was instead rewarded with money that he wasn't even aware he wanted. The Room is a Zone in which your true desires are realized on the condition that you are able to formulate them.
Easily one of my favorite films of all time. Very poetic and beautiful.

An acquaintance of mine resides in a rural Pennsylvania restored farmhouse. Pennsylvania as you know, lots of Revolutionary war graveyards.
One night the husband and son are out and she is sitting up waiting for them, lounging on the sofa in the LV room watching TV. No one home except her.
Catastrophically loud CRASH from the kitchen. She rushes in to find the kitchen fridge completely toppled over onto its side. Huge heavy beast of a fridge; far heavier than this pipsqueak-size woman could ever budge.
They accept that they have an occasional poltergeist.
Maybe it's raccoons?
