Really? They were certainly popular with audiences.

My favorite in this bunch is 913. In fact, it's my favorite Hitchcock film. I love the autumn Vermont scenery, and the dry sense of humor that is in evidence throughout. John Forsythe is an unlikely Hitchcock leading man (Hitch hired him again for TOPAZ), but he's perfectly acceptable and does not get in the way of the story. Shirley MacLaine is at the start of her motion picture career, and she's lovely. Then we have those great character actors Edmund Gwenn and Mildred Natwick who are delightful to watch. Young Jerry Mathers steals every scene he's in. And so does the corpse, who's a character unto himself. I just love this movie. It's one I watch over and over.

Oh, I didn't realize that was THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY. I did like that movie, though not my favorite Hitchcock film, still very much watchable thanks to the great cast.

For the first time, except for 911 and 914 which I do like very much,  there isn't a film in her that I would watch over and over again.

I never got into 920 or any of the sequels it spawned. Likewise 919 and its sequels.

    Disaster at sea on TCM

THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE with Gene Hackman

THE LAST VOYAGE with Robert Stack

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER with Kenneth More

    I love THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE.

I think the sequel BEYOND THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE is on a couple hours earlier. I will definitely skip that one.

  4. I'm not the biggest Brad Pitt fan by any means, but I have to admit he really wowed me in SEVEN (or SE7EN which is spelled a lot on other forums, whichever you prefer)…..

Especially at the end of the film when (SPOILER ALERT):

John Doe (Kevin Spacey) deliberately spells it out that not only did he kill Pitt's wife, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, but she also begged for her life AND the life of their unborn child. Pitt's character had no idea that she had been pregnant. Hearing this, Pitt is so full of shock and anguish and he is very convincing and devastating as well.  Little wonder he blows Doe away, very hard to blame him under those circumstances either.

Powerful one (***1/2) especially as usual Robert Shaw  Who saw the rehash with Denzel & Streep   OOPS, I was wrong the remake starred Denzel & Travolta & was ok (**1/2) at best  So fed up with remakes, sequels & comic books

I was thinking of yet another rehash of M. CANDUDATE instead   GEE, who's gonna remember these remakes in 10 to 20yrs

I love the 1974 original and the ending with Matthau's "Gotcha!" look.

The remake was okay, but the 1974 is the real classic here.

I haven’t seen Crowe’s version. Costner was a terrible Robin Hood. But I loved Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

You expressed my feelings about Costner as Robin Hood perfectly. And I too enjoyed Rickman as the wicked Sheriff.

I did see the Russell Crowe version of ROBIN HOOD.

Not as bad as it was made out to be by some of the reviewers on Amazon, though I have to go with the majority that Errol Flynn was THE Robin Hood of all time.

I love The Naked Gun.  We just watched this movie the other day.  I love when Leslie Nielsen drops Ricardo's pen in the fish tank with the dangerous and aggressive lionfish.

I really enjoy THE NAKED GUN movies as well, the first one being the best IMHO.

In addition to Ricardo, it also had John Houseman in a brief, but hilarious role as a driving instructor. He plays it straight forward in such a dry way, making his brief cameo all the more funnier.

Noir Alley is back with Ride the Pink Horse.  Don't recall having seen it, but the description sounds interesting.

Welcome back from exile Noir Alley!

Don't think I've seen it myself. Does sound like it'll be an interesting watch.

Errol Flynn for me.  And even though I have a 40 inch Smart TV, I would love to have seen him on a big screen in the theater.

    Me too.

I would have loved to have seen his swashbuckling in CAPTAIN BLOOD and especially in THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD on the really big screen.

The young Jack Palance played Stanley Kowalski in the play's national company, and then replaced Brando on Broadway. Many who saw it with both men, including critics, thought Palance was better than Brando.

I don't pay too much attention to what the critics say, never have and never will. Plus I've never been a big fan of Jack Palance.

    Brando WAS Stanley Kowalski.

Sorry you didn't like the 1951 film, but to me it's still a great movie with top-notch performances from Brando, Vivien Leigh, Karl Malden and KIm Hunter.
