Actor-producer-author Kirk Douglas (1916-2020)
Bethluvsfilms replied to jakeem's topic in General Discussions
It doesn't make YOU look very good continually bringing up an unproven accusation on a thread designed to pay respects to him now that he has died. Be interested in rumors all you like, but regardless of how you feel about Kirk, you could at least stay off this thread meant to pay respects after his passing and go start a new thread where you can post to your heart's content over and over again how he could have raped Natalie Wood. And also serial adultery does NOT make one a rapist, nor does it prove one is a rapist. -
Beauty And The Beast Couples In Movies
Bethluvsfilms replied to Det Jim McLeod's topic in General Discussions
I would say it would, since his actions throughout the film certainly do turn him into a beast. Interesting to see Gloria Stuart when she was so young. I used to only know her as the old Rose in 1997's TITANIC. For someone who wasn't seen throughout the whole film practically, Claude Rains turns in a very convincing and chilling performance. -
Best Endings & Beginnings in film history?

Please don't bring the "Kirk was a no-good rapist because unproven accusations say so" memos into this thread. We get enough of that from Vautrin in Kirk's obituary thread. -

Have you seen these 10 classic films..?

Oh I definitely have seen 630. It looked a bit more like Nicole Kidman than Meg Ryan to me though. -

How many times do you have to be told that a thread about the passing of a legendary actor is NOT the time nor the place to bring up such an ugly rumor? As already mentioned the Natalie Wood story is NOT part of Kirk's story because it's never been proven as 100 percent true. What part of this don't you get? -

Really looking forward to GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL. Kirk and Burt always worked well together in any movie they did together. -

623, 624, 625, 626, 627, 629 all cool flicks in my opinion. Never saw 628. Don't quite recognize 621, 622 and 630, I may or may not have seen them. -
Sunset Boulevard: The Musical, the Movie, the Status
Bethluvsfilms replied to Roy Cronin's topic in General Discussions
I've noticed that there hasn't been anything more said about the supposed musical movie remake of SUNSET BOULEVARD. According to IMBD it's still in pre-production. I wonder if there are problems aplenty going behind the scenes. If there is, and it gets too bad, then indeed the project may end up getting scratched. Which means Glenn Close may have to resign herself to the fact that she very likely will have to settle for an Honorary Oscar, assuming the Academy deems fit to give her one. -
Best Fight Scenes in Movie History

I can watch Maximus (Russell Crowe) kick Commodus' (Joaquin Phoenix) butt in GLADIATOR all day. Likewise Gene Hackman opening a can of whoop-you-know-what on the racist, wife beating deputy (Brad Dourif) in MISSISSIPPI BURNING. I loved it when Spencer Tracy put baddie Ernest Borgnine in his place in BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK. And Denzel Washington bringing down his wrath upon all the kidnappers of his young charge in MAN ON FIRE I never get tired of. -

You seem to miss the point completely. It's about paying tribute to a great actor (regardless of his flaws, which no doubt he had, just like you and I do), acknowledging his contributions in cinema, NOT continually attacking the man or slandering him over a story that has nothing but unproven speculation to back it up. Mitchum never made any secret of the fact that he did pot and did jail time for it. You can't compare his 'scandal' to the one you keep insisting on bringing up with Kirk when Kirk is no longer here to defend himself. -
