Gladys George was not in NOW, VOYAGER, that was Gladys Cooper as Bette's mother. -

Have you seen these 10 classic films..?

Love 233 and 238, I like 235 and 236 (though I am kind of skeptical of John Wayne's Oscar win for that film that year), I like 235 and 237. Do not like 239 at all, never thought much of Madonna's acting ability, even though she did managed to wow most people with her performance in that film. The film just bored me to tears. Haven't seen 231 or 240, though I would like to try and catch 231 sometime. -
TCM and Other Sources for Classic Film

Good films. (Though as much as I love Art Carney, and no argument from me he was great in HARRY AND TONTO, I am not so sure he deserved to win the Best Actor oscar that year over Al Pacino in THE GODFATHER PART II or Jack Nicholson in CHINATOWN). Though it's been awhile since I've seen HARRY AND TONTO. Maybe I'll change my mind this viewing. -
THEY STARTED A PETITION DRIVE TO REMOVE JACKIE GLEASON STATUE?

I am annoyed by political correctness, big difference there. And so are others on here. I don't know why you single me out. I admit that I wish it would go away, but I am not naïve enough to believe that it will any time soon. However, I am not going to lose any sleep over it. -

No, I am not actually. I don't know how in my post you got that impression. -
Anything with Cagney and Bogey I can't resist watching 2 days in a row, either a week or every 2 weeks. I also watch anything with Bette Davis and Katharine Hepburn on a regular weekly basis.

THEY STARTED A PETITION DRIVE TO REMOVE JACKIE GLEASON STATUE?

Even if it hasn't happened yet, I wouldn't doubt that, with the way political correctness is heading, someone is going to be offended by Ralph Kramden and make the suggestion and mean it. I mean, it seems like there isn't a day gone by when somebody out there isn't offended by SOMETHING, whether it be on film, on TV, in books or general in history that they demand it be censored or removed. Heaven help us. -

I love 226 and 228. 226 definitely deserves its status as a classic, and as for 228 I am a huge fan of both Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges. -

Best Endings & Beginnings in film history?
Bethluvsfilms replied to spence's topic in General Discussions
Well, to be fair, in THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, Dexter did only shove Tracy down (albeit on her face) rather than out and out smack her. And she did need to realize that absolutely NO ONE can be 100 percent perfect all the time, no matter how hard they tried. Fortunately she did come to realize that by the end of the movie. -
It just occurred to me that Kirk had very few Oscar nominations...he didn't get one for LONELY ARE THE BRAVE, PATHS OF GLORY or even SPARTACUS. I know he tried for years to get a film adaptation of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, finally gave up and handed over the film rights to Michael. Jack Nicholson got the role of MacMurphy and won the Oscar for it. Wonder if Kirk was kicking himself afterwards for that.

So sad. May he RIP. Big Bird was always my favorite on SESAME STREET.
