Shelley Winters in "A Patch of Blue" (1965)

Oh yeah, she definitely deserved the pitchfork, and a whole lot more where that came from!

(SPOILER ALERT):
What I didn't like about Hopkins' aunt in THE HEIRESS, is what made her think that Morris wouldn't take Catherine for every penny she had and then would run off on her? And cheat on her with every harpy when Catherine's back was turned? What kind of 'loving' aunt would want their niece in that kind of relationship?
Maybe Morris would have been just content to live off on Catherine's money, but Hopkins had no way of knowing that for an absolute fact.
At any rate, her pity for Morris was misplaced. I don't blame Catherine one bit for not wanting to give him another chance.

A big NAY to Ben Cross as Barnabas again....first of all he's too old. Second, he was nowhere near as sympathetic as Barnabas as Jonathan Frid was.
I actually like the Tim Burton film with Johnny Depp. I do wish it had been a little bit more serious in tone, but I liked it for what it was.
It would be neat if they could attempt a revival of the show again, but finding the right actor to play Barnabas would be essential. I just hope they don't try and remake HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS like the 1991 show did the first few episodes.

I wish TCM would air Bedtime Story from Universal in 1964, which is the inspiration for Dirty Rotten Scandals, a film I saw in college having no idea it was a remake and laughed so hard, I seriously think I almost injured myself. The plot and even dialogue similarities are extremely similar. I think it would be instructive for TCM to air them back to back to see just how much the latter took from the former.
I would really love so see that one, since it has Brando playing against type.
Never was a fan of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, though, but still BEDTIME STORY sounds like it would be quite an interesting film.

I have to admit I like the original THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH much more than the 1956 James Stewart/Doris Day version.
One of the many attractions of the earlier version, is, as you pointed out, Peter Lorre's performance as the villain.
Not that the 1956 remake was bad by any means, but Lorre is a hard act to follow when it comes to playing this kind of role.
