Looking forward to seeing 1963's Captain Newman M.D. tonight.
This was a late show staple back in the 1960's, but it's been decades since I saw it last. Mostly I remember being really impressed with the acting of Bobby Darin in this movie.
I think I saw CAPTAIN NEWMAN M.D. a long time ago and remember liking it quite well. I'll probably catch it myself again tonight.

You didn't specify which HOLIDAY and Horton was in both versions. So I picked the first one from 1930.
Oops, sorry about that. I totally forgot to add the year. Anyway:

Think I've seen just about all of them except 1262. My personal favorites are 1261 and 1270.
1264 is a pretty good film, though I never got into the 'Brat Pack' fad. Also liked 1268.
Never cared for 1266 though it did have an interesting premise.

There was a rumor that Tom Selleck was offered role of Indiana Jones. I found Eddie's comments regarding Priscilla Lane interesting. I can't picture Ford as Mike Stivic, but then I see Rob Reiner in my head. Interesting background about Tierney's Mom committing suicide. Watching CBS Sunday Morning, found out the Melissa Gilbert never found out until later years that her Dad killed himself (I think her Mom told her he died from pneumonia).
I think Tom Selleck could probably have pulled off the role of Indy, but I think Ford did wonders for the role that it's impossible to think of anyone else as Indy. But like you, I can't see Ford as 'Meathead' on ALL IN THE FAMILY either.
It's interesting that Ford has gone on to star in 2 of the most successful movie series of all time, the STAR WARS franchise (the original trilogy and FORCE AWAKENS) and the Indiana Jones films. Would he have had the same level of success if he had taken on the role of Archie Bunker's son-in-law? Who knows...

Cool. The reason I asked is because I was wondering why you like it, or why people in general like it, since others don't.
It seems to be a movie that sort of divides audiences. Those who are enamored and those who are not really affected.
I'm afraid I am in the camp of those who didn't love BULL DURHAM as much as the majority seems to (not the least of which is because of my disdain of Kevin Costner).
I will say that Susan Sarandon was probably the best thing about the film. So I will give it that much.

Really looking forward to SOME LIKE IT HOT.
THE GREAT RACE is watchable but no SOME LIKE IT HOT. Interesting to see Tony and Jack as enemies in sharp contrast to the buddy-buddies they were in SOME LIKE IT HOT though.
