Great Movies! Deceptively Boring Summaries!

LOL you got a point there, but I thought you were being a little on the humorous side there (not that you are ever NOT humorous! ). Afraid I haven't a clue to what your film is. Maybe someone else on here knows what it is. And I will probably feel like a moron for not realizing what movie it was when I learn what it is. -

I think I've been TOO cautious in my example..... Let's just say the 'other woman' has no intention of being ignored.... -

Well, the family in here did have a dog, but they did have another pet, a cuddly, furry one with long pink ears..... -

Has to be a spaceship then......ALIEN or ALIENS perhaps? Or could it be 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY? -

Well, one could make an argument for an extreme case of animal cruelty for a certain pet in my example. I have to admit your example has me stumped as well. I have a feeling it will make sense to me when I hear it, but I haven't got a clue since it's not MUTINY, that is the only film that came to my mind when I read your description. -

WESTWORLD is one weird movie (but I mean that in the most positive way). Also looking forward to THE JOURNEY and THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV. -

I'm guessing MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY. (And no, there are no ghosts or hauntings in my example). -

Actually this movie was made long after the Production Code dissolved. Let me put it this way, this guy's transgressions come back to haunt not only him but his family as well. -

Well, Dargo, just think about the worst case scenario when a guy doesn't stay true to his wife.... -

I know that's gotta be ANGEL FACE. Poor Robert Mitchum, his characters in those 2 films had the bad luck to get mixed up with women who were no good. No wonder he became so screwed up in THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER and CAPE FEAR. -

Although ALL OF ME is my favorite Carl Reiner/Steve Martin film, I have to say THE JERK is indeed a classic and you are right, the movie probably wouldn't have worked without the comical genius of Martin. I love how oblivious Navin could be in a lot of situations (especially the fact that he was the only non-black in the household). A good comedy with enough laughs to go around.

I know I haven't seen this one, but it looks interesting. Probably will record it. -
Have you seen these 10 classic films..?
Bethluvsfilms replied to TopBilled's topic in General Discussions
Seen just about all of them except 1231 and 1240. 1233 is my absolute favorite out of all of these, and Karloff's best performance IMO since his turn as the Monster in the FRANKENSTEIN films. 1237 is weird but interesting (regardless of how I feel about Polanski in his personal life, he did make some interesting films, both in front of and behind the camera). 1239 is too mediocre for me. The rest I like to see now and again. -
