  1. I have to say that I can't imagine HOWARD THE DUCK being a highlight for any of the careers of the actors involved (and that includes Tim Robbins, though he was just starting out at the time).
  2. Not sure if I've seen 1071, 1072 or 1073. The rest I know I have. 1074 and 1080 are about the only ones I can say I truly enjoy.
  3. Speaking for myself I say THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE really did NOT need a sequel. For me it is very painful to watch, an excellent cast (Michael Caine, Sally Field, Karl Malden, Jack Warden, Peter Boyle, etc.) whose talents were squandered on a movie that did not need to be made in the first place. I don't remember WHEN TIME RAN OUT and from what I have been reading in here I don't think I'll seek it out to refresh my memory.
  4. YANKEE DOODLE DANDY does it for me, every time. James Cagney is so energetic in it, and I just adore the songs in it. It's easy to see why it was his favorite film (for which he won his only Oscar for).
  5. I think a lot of folks were rooting for Julia Roberts to get it for PRETTY WOMAN. Anjelica Huston was great in THE GRIFTERS, but I think Kathy Bates more than deserved it for MISERY (even though I preferred the book to the film in the long-run).
  6. Have to say I am unfamiliar with the works of Jean Rollin, but maybe I can check them out sometime (assuming they're available somewhere).
  7. Yes! Sad to see such a great actor in such a sorry excuse of a sequel to a great horror film. Louise Fletcher also was badly wasted in here.
  8. My personal favorite doppelgangers/lookalikes are the two completely different characters played by Edward G. Robinson in THE WHOLE TOWN'S TALKING. His meek newspaperman is 180 degrees from the nasty gangster he so closely resembles and Robinson plays both parts so brilliantly. Tell me again why he was never nominated by the Academy.....
  9. You know what, I don't think I have seen 1061. It doesn't look familiar to me.
  10. Seen all of these. 1066 and 1070 are the winners of this bunch for me.
  11. Well if Helen Hunt can fall for Jack Nicholson, a man old enough to be her father as well in AS GOOD AS IT GETS, then certainly Angie can fall for old John? Seriously, I wish they could have gotten Maureen O'Hara for the female lead in RIO BRAVO instead of Angie, I have to admit. She and Wayne always had great chemistry together.
  12. How about RIO BRAVO? He at least shared the screen with John Wayne, and I thought Martin more than held his own. Other than that, I have to agree Martin's film biography doesn't exactly boast a whole lot of acclaim.
  13. One of the first movies I saw in the theater.....it was totally a waste of time, and yes a waste of talent for both Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason.
  14. I know how you feel about BRINGING UP BABY, but I myself would prefer to watch that over and over again before I would ever lay eyes on ISHTAR again!
  15. 1052 is my absolute favorite of the bunch. Don't think I've seen 1053 and I know I haven't seen 1058. 1059 is very much underrated. Peter Fonda turned in a performance worthy of any of his father's.
  16. Can't argue with ISHTAR....a career low for both Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman. Though Hoffman did bounce back nicely the following year with RAIN MAN (for which he won the Best Actor Oscar).
  17. LOL Me too. I think the TWILIGHT series is the exception to the rule for me. I love my vampires to be badasses!
