This is a great film and Olivier in top form. I think I heard this was his favorite role of his as well.
Ironic that Joan Plowright, who plays his daughter in here, went on to marry him in real life.

Actually Cid, when it comes Bright Leaf, I think a better and more apropos disclaimer might be the following...
"Warning: You are about to watch a movie where Gary Cooper plays a real SOB. I know, ain't THAT unusual!"
You could probably use the same disclaimer for Henry Fonda in ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST!

I've always been interested in LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any prints left of the film.
Too bad because it sounded real interesting with me, especially with Lon Chaney as the star.

Just finished Zodiac (again). This movie fascinates me. It's hard to believe they never caught him and there are so many opinions as to who he was, or is. I've done quite a bit of research and while I think it was Arthur Leigh Allen, I'm not sure. There are complete web sites totally dedicated to this case. It's probably second only to the Kennedy assassination in terms of interest and wild theories. The movie is really well done and follows Greysmith's book almost to the letter. It's a great study of how solving the mystery affected the three main characters .Robert Greysmith, Paul Avery and Dave Toschi are brilliantly portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr, and Mark Ruffalo. I've always liked movies about serial killers and how detectives catch them after lengthy cat and mouse games. I guess I'm intrigued by this case because the "bad" guy got away with it.
They never caught Jack the Ripper either. A lot of speculation on who he was or could have been, but it's never been proved one way or another.
It will probably be the same with the Zodiac killer.

Not such so much as a terrible idea, but it would have been interesting to have seen Kirk Douglas play Gordon Gekko in WALL STREET.
It's exactly the kind of smarmy, arrogant type role he was known to have played in such films as OUT OF THE PAST, THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL and ACE IN THE HOLE.

A little.
BUT, I'll feel even BETTER when I see some of the folks around here acknowledge the validity of my little motorcycle movie analogy to this whole GWTW thing.
(...and why I used it to press my point)
I agree with what you said about EASY RIDER.
Fonda and Hopper's characters (SPOILER ALERT) certainly did NOT deserve to be blown away like they were simply because they weren't part of the Establishment. Nor did George Hanson (Jack Nicholson) deserved to be beaten to death for absolutely no good reason.

All great flicks in my book, except 1030. A bit too confusing for me to follow and doesn't exactly fit in with my theologies.
