I find I either love the musicals of our current decade of study (Mad About Musicals) or I am overcome with a feeling that the musical is "trying to hard". I love Dan Daily but It's Always Fair Weather falls into the latter category. As did yesterday's The Band Wagon.
Make no mistake I still enjoyed both and most of the others I put into the category of "trying to hard" but unfortunately when you are watching them in the same week as Singing in the Rain et al, they pale by comparison.
