Well, Rich, have fun at your weekend stay. I hope it's not mother's birthday this weekend. Every year Norm throws a birthday party for mother and invites all the motel guests. Trust me, you don't want to be there.

As Ralph Kramden would say, "Hubba...hubba...hubba.." Is that a figure, or what? (Does anyone ever say figure anymore?) I hope you don't mind if a mangy ole pirate drops in to peer at the brunettes once in a while...or is he leering? Nah, there's some respectful admiration in there somewhere (I think). Actually, Nancy Kwan is absolutely stunning in this picture. I keep thinking of the way she would say, cutely, "Oh, for heaven sake," in The World of Suzie Wong. Great pictures of Nancy Kwan. laffite

Hi Barb
I admit, the quality of hirsuteness is not something that?s ever occurred to me regarding Henry Fonda (Hmm, wonder if he's ever worn a King Kong costume.) But it is interesting as well as funny nonetheless. Your mother should consider publishing a chap book. It could be entitled, ?A Compendium of Salient Observations about Classic Movies from a Bronx Mother.? It will be a sure hit!

Thanks for the bonus Marie pic. She is a cutie.
Speaking of cuties, and for a change of pace (brunette-wise), have a look at sweet Joyce Reynolds tonight in JANIE. I haven't looked her up on imbd but I guess her career never got off the ground. Too bad, this was a nice effort by her. laffite

EDIT: I deleted the original comment I wrote here. I mistakenly thought that the sketch was supposed to be of Marie. So please except my "never mind!" One of these I may learn to read carefully.

Hi Jackie
Are you sure Marie Prevost is real? She looks like some doll made in heaven and then sent down to Earth to put us on. Lovely pics of her. laffite

*It's great to see you back in town. Where have you been?*

Oh, around.
*Have you been sailing the high seas in search of obedient and worshipful lasses?*
Since I rule with an iron fist, a bit of the former. As to the latter, fat chance.
*Yes, you have it very right. I hate the Steelers and Eagles...And, please make sure Penn State doesn't win the national title.*
I shall do my best. In fact, I will now issue a pirate's curse on these execrable teams (with the help of my gecko friend.) So to the Steelers, Eagles, and Nittany Lions, take this:

*I'll be pulling for the Bolts ((against the Steelers)). That's going to be a problem for you, though. I tend to be very jinxy with football.*
Mais non, mais non, mon ami, your good vibes were instrumental in the Denver and Indy conquests last year. Though you weren't much help in the Steeler game.

*It's in December and Romo and the Cowboys haven't shown a darn thing then, so that's encouraging for you. Who knows, Dallas' season may be over by then, too.*
Nein, nein, Mein Freund, both teams will be in thick of it and it will be a big, big, game.
*I hate football season because it makes me manic-depressive*
I tend to be psychotic by Week Four.
*I'm definitely rooting for your Chargers to dethrone the Steelers. PLEASE!*
We shall do all in our power to accomplish your wishes...provided that the Cowboys don't beat us to it.

"Really, Jimmy, do you think it's proper that we should be looking at this? I mean there's such a thing as common decency. I'm so surprised that that you would bring us over her to watch a spectacle such as this. I mean, honestly now...so will you pass me the damn camera now."

*FrankGrimes*, how are you! Long time, no talk. I wonder if you have been able to tear yourself away from all those lovely ladies that Kyle sent you to watch the NFL opener tonight. I work Sunday nights and as necessitated by our digital age bought a 7-inch digital TV ($100) and and extra antenna good enough to receive anything at all ($40) so that I may exercise my passion for the game on these many Sunday nights to come. Tonight, of course, was a disappointment. If memory serves, you despise the Pittsburgh Steelers as much as I do so you know what I mean. In four weeks or so the "Super" Chargers will taking on the Stealers (sic) in another Sunday night game. The only other game this year (not a Sunday night) that might result in a more-than-usual amount of trepidation is the one that will take place on December 13, 2009, which might be described as the *FrankGrimes-Laffite Torture Bowl*. Surely I don't need to write down here the teams that will be involved in that one.

Anyway, as a new season is upon us, I wish you and the Dallas Cowboys good luck---uh, within limits, of course.

D H. Lawrence had all his major novels made into movies. Women in Love is a splendid movie IMO, with Alan Bates, Oliver Reed, and Glenda Jackson. The Rainbow has been done and I believe Sons and Lovers as well. There have been several versions of Lady Chatterley's Lover. And let's not forget The Fox, with Sandy Dennis and Anne Heywood, from a novella. There may be others.

I ALWAYS have the same problem with logging on, whether the forum is having a glitchy period or not. After logging on, I get the Welcome, Laffite in the upper right corner as usual...but only for less than a second. It turns back into welcome guest. Of course I cannot post with that screen. If I click on welcome guest I get the welcome laffite for less than a second again. But during that split second if I can move the cursor fast enough over to FORUM HOME and get a good solid click on it, the welcome laffite screen will appear and it will stay until I log off. Sometimes it will take a few times to get it because there is very little time. Anyone else have that happen?
