Um, thanks for that explanation about emoticons, lafitte. While I admire your knowledge about them and how to use them, I tend to use them sparingly myself, and don't really plan to make use of the information you posted about them. I know that sounds ungracious, sorry, and your 'splaining about them like that was interesting, but I think I'll just stick to a "cool" face now and then, that type of thing. But I'm impressed that you know so much about them.
Um, to tell you the truth I don't used them that much either. It's quite rare actually. But I'm glad I know enough about them to 'splain them even though to people who don't really plan to use them. No, it didn't sound ungracious at all, after all I wasn't actually trying to persuade you to use them. I think a lot can be accomplished with the "cool' face now and then, that type of thing. Thank you for being impressed that I know so much about them and admiring my knowledge about them. Especially when you could have simply used a 'thanks' emoji.

There may be a private airstrip there, i don't know. There's a small airport in Newquey about 20 miles south which i've never been through and my wife worked at when she was younger. I always fly in through Bristol or London and drive or train it from there. There's only one major motorway and rail line in to Cornwall. It really is a pretty magical place though. I first visited in 2000 when i went to visit my future wife and then after we got married and lived in the states, we would spend our christmases there and nothing beats an english christmas in a village. on christmas day a brass band comes into the pub playing holiday music. Truro is the only major city there. I would most definitely recommend visiting. it's a slower pace of life but it's amazing.
I had sixty billion dollars I would hire members of the cast to spend a couple of weeks there and then I might go. They would have to stipulate being in character the whole time. And then have the writers write a few scenes for them to perform in a theater. How's that for a fandom delight. I hope I won't have to go the pharmacy. Actually I would love to go to the pharmacy. That actress is a comic genius. But Bert Large's restaurant is another thing again. I might still go even there however, if Morwenna would go with me. No I am not psychotic, but I may be soon.

Gloria Grahame is killer. That mouth and those legs, plus she can act like nobody’s business, If Gloria Grahame can’t do it then nobody can.

It's a little village. They offer Doc Martin walking tours for 10 pounds but all the sights from the show are easy to spot. Tintagel castle (ruins), the supposed birthplace of King Arthur, are right next to the village so it's popular area with tourists. I haven't watched the last two seasons yet and it has been a while since i watched the earlier ones, but will finish it sometime.
I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. I take it there is no air strip in Point Issac. How does one get there? Where is the closest airport? I saw a documentary about the show. It seems there were mixed feelings about the show with regard to it's impact on general living conditions.
When I was at the point where you are (two seasons to go) I couldn't stop. So I'm done, but am looking forward to the final season, Series 10, filming now I believe.

@Mr6666
And what is it that confuses you?
Why not tell me all about it.
Seriously, that's the way it seems to work on my computer.

Oh, is that what those tiny little symbols were supposed to look like? I'm afraid I'm not very learned on internet emojis and all the symbols etc. Thanks for the explanation.
( note the suitably friendly emoji I posted--even I can figure out those ones, the faces.)
Emojis that are listed under category can be enlarged by clicking on them and going to SIZE (which in generally used for text). The man with his hands up was resized to the maximum, i. e., 72. Exception is that category which are most often used, such as you COOL guy up there. Emojis in that category, which can be found by scrolling all the way down, cannot be enlarged.
Tip: On those that are enlargeable, it is best to type your entire post first, then enlarge the emoji. Once you enlarge an emoji then NORMALLY the software will not allow to type anything after that. But sometimes it does.

I watch films with subtitles all the time, but these were in such rapid succession that there was no time to digest what I was reading. After 30 minutes I decided to watch it some other time. Just wasn't in the mood.
Do what I do. I monitor the PAUSE button. It's as pain in the neck and a helluva way to watch but if it's a good enough movie, I do it.

Why? This seems an ideal place to comment on the unreliable Saturday night schedule for Noir Alley. And the poster was talking specifically about the program Noir Alley. Also, Mr. FloydBarber is not the only one here to be displeased about the switching around of Noir Alley's schedule on Saturday night.
Now, I say this completely objectively, since I always watch it on the Sunday morning slot. Which, thank the noir gods that be, seems to be pretty consistent in its 10:00 a. m. schedule. But I'm just saying, this seems like a legitimate complaint, and I think this thread is as appropriate a place as any to comment about it.
ps /edit : By the way, which thread in General Discussions are you alluding to? I always thought this was the original, real McCoy, and primary Noir Alley thread. You mean there's another one? Gak ! And I've been missing out on it all this time ! Now I'm experiencing major FOMO. 😬
After some confusion, I now see the business. Poster FloydDBarber initiated a thread earlier today called Noir Alley but under the General Discussion located at TCM FILM FORUM FESTIVAL. I responded to that post suggesting that he make his query HERE. But since then, the moderators combined that thread to THIS thread, so that it looks to you and others that I posted up here. A sort comedy in errors. Please look, if interested, at the General Discussions in TCM FILM FORUM FESTIVAL and you will see that I indeed posted down there first.
Now you can go back to loving me again, I hope.

Is there an unwritten law that Noir Alley can be shown anytime after midnight on Saturday or early Sunday morning? People rely on watching at midnight and not 1:30 in the morning. Is Noir Alley an afterthought? I can guarantee there is a large fan base for Eddie and the program. This is sacred time for us and something to look forward to after a long week.
There is a Noir Alley Thread in General Discussions which is considerably more highly frequented than here. I suggest you make you query up there.

This was the OP's third post and I'm conjecturing that she may not have known what she was doing. Maybe she though that was the way to do it. Anyway I think it's funny. Not ridiculing, it was amusing.
