  1. I thought of more movies " You Can Never Tell" With Dick Powell. It is the story about a german shepherd that is murdered, then comes back to life as a human to find his killer. Falls in love with his mistress in the process. Wonderful movie! I also like Mr Peabody and the Mermaid" with William Powell and Anne Blyth M'Liss with Anne Shirley; Peter Ibbston with Gary Cooper Message was edited by: romanticatheart Message was edited by: romanticatheart

  3. I have never seen Carnival, but I do have the original Broadway cast album, with Jerry Orbach who played the puppeteer and Anna marie Allberghetti who played lili. While I liked the music .... to me at least, I love the movie magic of Lili the movie much more. Leslie Caron's magical performance of the innocent orphan. Mel Ferrer as the complex puppeteer. Brittle and bitter from personal tradgedy, yet full of depth and renewed life from his unrequited love for Lili. Not knowing how to handling this young innocent flower. Because of his shyness and fear of being rejected, can only communicate his feelings through the magic of his puppets, until the climactic end, Lili finally realizes it is he, that is the one who truly loves her. So wonderful. I just taped it on TCM last week. I really do hope it comes to DVD soon. I did not have the pleasure to see Anne Hathaway's version in Carnival. i think she would be terrific in the part as Lili. She has a wholesomeness about her that would fit that role very well.
  4. My all time favorite is "Liii." It is a movie that one could watch over and over again and never get enough. One would think of it as a children's film because of the puppets, but it is so much more complex. it is a study of human nature. Very interesting to watch the very multi faceted characters that play in this film. Leslie Caron as Lili shines sublimely to perfection in this movie with her innocence and depth of charactor Another film I love is, "You can Never Tell". A movie with Dick Powell. It is about a dog who has been murdered and come back to life as a human to solve the mystery of his death. A fantastic film noir, fantasy mystery, flick

  9. Couldn't sing,...........? Perhaps they weren't Bing Crosby, Andy Williams,Dick Haymes, or a Mel Torme..... but I loved their voices. They were warm comfortable and romantic. They were on key. Their voices fit with the music written, blended well with their co stars and made many a viewer melt as they watched them from their local movie theatre at the time or a cozy couch today. : )
  10. I love any movie with Judy Garland, she had a way of touching ones very soul, just with a look, a phrase or a song. She is one that could make you want to laugh and cry at the same time.
